I scheduled an appointment with Big O tires on February 10, 2024… when I scheduled the appointment I told them I was bringing my own parts… The person I talked to said that was fine… when I got the quote, I noticed the bill was extremely high… I asked why the bill was so high and was told it was because they charged me time and a half because I bought my own parts instead of buying their marked up parts…this “Policy’ was never mentioned when I scheduled the appointment nor would it have been mentioned if I didn’t notice the high quote…So my brake repair was supposed to be $129 per wheel x 2 wheels (rear only) but was charged another $129 because I didn’t buy their parts…I have been going here for years and only recently noticed how much they mark up their parts and tried to save some money but that is impossible with this shady business practice…lesson learned..wanted to let everyone in the New Albany Indiana area know about this in advance because they won’t tell you…

We are one of the few shops, including Big O Tires stores, that will allow a customer to bring in their own parts. Most Big O Tires and almost all the other shops nearby don't even allow this to happen. We do, BUT we charge 1.5 X/s the hourly labor rate if the customer brings the correct parts. If the customer brings the incorrect parts and still don't want us to order the parts the clock runs at $129.62/ hour the entire time while we are waiting. I'm sorry if the message wasn't relayed properly, but this isn't anything new.

On Nov 10, 2023 I went to Big O for a tire rotation, balance and oil change. On Monday as I was driving to work my car was feeling different like something was wrong. Midday I went to move my car from one garage to another. There was a loud noise coming from my passenger side tire. The noise turned into grinding and thumping. It was worse when I turned. I was scared that something was going to happen. I left work and slowly drove a block or two over to *********. They were unable to get to my car that day. I told them I was going to leave my car there because I didn’t feel safe enough to drive it all the way home and back again. I walk back to work and wait for my son to pick me up. The next day I got a call from ********* telling me what they found. my front passenger tire was is extremely loose. One of the lug nuts had fallen off and the other Lugnuts were finger twisting loose. They told me if I would have driven that car a few more miles. My tire would have fallen off. The last time my tires were touched were when I went to big O that previous Friday for a tire rotation, balance and oil change. I feel that big O was very negligent. Screwing somebody’s tire back on should be something that is never missed. The tires should be triple checked for every vehicle. *** forbid if I would have driven my car home and my tire fell off while I was on the highway. Causing harm to myself and or others. I also had to get six new lug nuts on other tires because they were stripped and fire stone was unable to use them. I needed front and rear brake pads and rotors as well. $1200 later my car was fully fixed. I drove to ********** with my family this past weekend. All this happened the day before I left. I thank *** I wasn’t on the highway and my tire fell off. This is the second major issue I’ve had with Big O this year, which occurred at 2 separate locations. I got tires from there during my first issue. That’s the only reason I went back for my free rotation and balance.

This is the first we've heard of the issue. The fact we left a wheel loose is unacceptable and I apologize. We have no problem paying for the repair to get the stud fixed and would have been happy to look into this if it was brought to our attention.
