    I recently leased a car from the lease here pay here section. It has been nothing but trouble from the beginning. The car was not ready when I was told it would be. Not all of the issues were fixed as they should have been. I have complained several times about mechanical issues that should have been identified before taking the car. Now, it is having more issues that have supposedly been fixed. They refuse to terminate the lease. That is all I want, I have only had this car for 3 months.

    Customer notified the ****************************** yesterday, 5.21.25, of a potential service issue.  Promptly our team suggested that we set an appointment to have the vehicle brought back into the dealership for a service inspection.  No appointment had been set at the time of the BBB notification.  We have since reached out again, to invite the customer back in to see what the service issue might be, so we can work on a resolution.  Attached you will also see the screenshot of the conversation.
    We hope the customer will bring the vehicle back into the shop, so we can come up with a plan to get them back on the road and happy again.

    Hello,The transaction date started on March 3, which my care was taken in to be serviced due to a check engine and due to my warranty everything is covered. After about a week of waiting for a response calls was made and was told car had not been started on and because of them having it which means now Im paying out of pocket to get to work a loner was asked for and they gave me a rental and stated it is for 7days giving the impression the car will be done now we are at March 21st the car is still not done and we still have the rental not being told that after the 7 days the cost of the rental will be left on to me. Every week calls was made to see if the car was done on April 11 got a voicemail about car will be done by the next week waiting on a new part. On the same day called and the car was done still only leaving the impression we only had to pay for the alignment 200. April 12th went to pick the car up where we was hit with 1800, bill for the rental which was never communicated and after figure out a way to pay that bill became they would not release the car turn on the car it didnt want to Start thats the first thing second every light that was on when the car was dropped off was still on then for them to turn around and say now there is a fuel leak and they need to order parts which a oil pump was on the service list. So they not only are scamming people out of money no documents was ever giving of the breakdown of the rental that was giving that will leave me liable for the remaining days they was working on the car and then the car is still not fixed for them surprise use with a bill from my understanding a bill is giving paid then the car is worked on and they call to let you know any other fees or charges none of this took place. Also the front driver side had been damaged the wheel frame is missing a piece, there was so much residue left all over the inside of the hood. Its just a mess and I still dont have my care after a month and a week.

    We do not have any information on a customer ******* ******, nor have had any contact with them. We have a 2019 **********, vin #*****************, owned by customer ****** ********, that fits the customer's statement in your correspondence.

    Mr. ******** brought the vehicle in on 2/26/25 for concerns with the check engine light, a fluid leak, and a tire light on. The vehicle was dropped off and put into line to be worked on by a qualified *************. ******** called into the service consultant and asked for a vehicle to drive, as it would be covered by his extended warranty. Per his decision, it was set up with Enterprise rental car, and he was advised that his warranty company would pay a maximum of 7 days for the rental.
    It was found that the oil pump had failed per the diagnostic codes in system, the turbo auxiliary cooler was leaking coolant, and the vehicle needed tires. We repaired the oil pump and cooler under Mr. ******** warranty,and he declined tires. 7 days of rental were paid by his warranty company.

    Mr. ******** came to pick up the vehicle on 4/12/25, and was advised by the Service Manager, Ki *******, that his total would be $1875.93,for the rental car he been told he would be responsible for, as well as an alignment he authorized. He questioned this and was reiterated by the Manager,as well as his Consultant, of previous discussions.
     Mr. ******** paid the invoice and left.

    Mr. ******** returned soon after, complaining that the service engine soon light was back on. This was due to an entirely different concern,and fuel was leaking from the back of the vehicle. It was discussed with Ki ******* and Mr. ******** that the fault was a leaking high pressure fuel pump at the rear of the vehicle, and we would put him in a rental for his inconvenience while we fixed it on this visit. 

    Mr. ******** vehicle will be completed on 4/28/25, and his rental charges will be taken care of by the Ray Skillman Service Team. However, any prior charges will not be reimbursed as this was the choice of the customer, as they were advised that the warranty company would only pay 7 days.

    I purchased a vehicle from Ray Skillman 05/10/2024. When I purchased the car there were several things I was promised in good faith would be done. One was purchase tires, purchase a spare, and purchase a second key. All was done except purchase the key once Ray Skillman found out more specifically *** found out how much the key/fob would cost. After going back and forth with *** he agreed to pay half the cost. Key/fob has not been purchased as of this date due to my husband and I paying for burial fees for our son we lost to cancer 07/02/2024. When we got the car home it kept giving us a message that coolant needed to be added. My husband was adding coolant once a week. I told him that was not normal. We took the car in to ******** *** to check the car and found out there were several major things wrong with this car totaling close to $9000 for repairs. We were told our warranty was bumper to bumper and found out it was not. We were sold a warranty that is not bumper to bumper. We now have a car we cannot drive and were sold a lemon. I know *** Skillman does not have a crystal ball but they do have mechanics and this car was not serviced properly if serviced at all. The only resolution I am looking for at this point is for Ray Skillman to do the right thing by my husband and I and take their car back and properly fix it before they put it on their lot to sell. ****** Luther **** said, "Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere." I do not believe this is an isolated incident I believe it is an issue with all of their used cars if investigated. We are still very much mourning the loss of our son now the loss of what we thought was a very nice car but was in fact a lemon.

    I purchased a car from Ray Skillman in *************, I've taken the car back twice to have the air bag sensor replaced still incorrect part, upon purchasing the car I took it for a test drive brought it back signed all the papers went to get in the car and leave it wouldn't start or unlock. The battery was changed in the key phobe still didn't work. I was given a loaner car and went on the Monday to pick the car up. After I got the car home, I discovered the radio didn't work. I reached back out and made an appointment but per the management over the leasing program they refuse to pay for it. I purchased the part that was needed and had it installed in order to listen to the radio this car has some electronical issues that this car lot is not willing to address fast forward to me having the car for 85 days, took the car to the same spot for an oil change and was accused of unplugging the gps and scolded about how this is a violation to their lease terms and the car could be taken from me . I was told my gps was unplugged for 103 days mind you I only had the car for the 85 days. When I brought this to their attention and it was confirmed no one ever said I apologize or nothing they focused on the music that was hooked up in the car then claiming it was search a fire hazard and would be unhooked. The music didn't even has power connected unless you flipped the toggle switch. I left the lot the music wasn't unplugged but on Friday the car completely stopped working in the middle of traffic. I had the car towed and they had it towed to the lot and it's been sitting there and I've been without transportation. I explained when I called that I needed my car because I had 2 funerals to attend and no way to get there. But of course, that didn't matter because to date the car hasn't been looked at. Every payment that was required has been made on time. The service at this establishment stinks and I'm very unhappy.

          This complaint is not valid. After purchasing this vehicle, the customer had an aftermarket radio and an under the car lighting Pkg installed. All of this aftermarket equipment was wired directly to the battery. Any problem or issue with this vehicle is a Direct cause of the installation of **************** items done somewhere other than this Dealership and our location.

    An aftermarket radio was not installed. And the lighting kit that was installed should not have effect why the car thru a low fuel pressure code when scanned with a diagnostic scanner. The gentleman *************************** that called was very combative and would let me explain the issues with the basically telling what I was saying wasnt true and the electrical issue wasnt an on going problem already before I took delivery of the car. Per **** they would get the car started and hope that I made it home to have the wires that werent connected to anything but the battery uninstalled. They original issue was not acknowledged or addressed.. My car was at the shop since Friday March 15, 2024 . I spoke with the service technician ***** and he stated on 3/20 they couldnt find anything wrong with the car and requested to keep another day. When the complaint was received they refused to look any further. I will have the car taken elsewhere to be properly diagnosed.

    A toggle switch is not the reason the car will not run. The employees are liars and the cars they sell are trash. The car needed a fuel pump and they refuse to address the REAL issue with the car. Their man concern is a gps tracker and wires that are not hooked up to anything as the speakers were removed from the car on 3/13 before the car had stopped.  I was told the car was driven for 3-5 minutes and they could find anything wrong with the car but the car wont stay started for 1 minute let alone 3-5 minutes. Ray Skillman and its employees are worried about a car payment. But I will forward my complaint to the Attorney general and every new station that will listen. Per the management team they were going to have the car started enough for me to hopefully make home and if I didnt basically that was my problem. I hired a tow truck and he had to jump the car in order to tow it when he was told by the repair shop that the car ran. So they lying to cover up the bs they got going on..

    I leased a car through their Lease here pay here program back in April of 2023. I made a $500 down payment along with any other fees required. Less than 2 months of leasing the car I start having major issues with it. Over the span of 6 months I had to take it back in to be looked at 5 times. They were able to fix the minor issues but when it came to the main issue, the cooling system (or so I thought) they were unable to locate any issues stating problem could not be duplicated, no work done. I lost a job due to not having a reliable car and constantly in and out of the shop. Fast forward to Last week February 19th of 2024, I had to call a tow truck due to the car completely unable to run. Turns out the issue is the transmission, which I believe is caused from failure of resolving the issues I had with the car the previous 8 months, and the in house finance let me know they will not be paying for it to be fixed and the responsibility of payment for another transmission will land upon me. Ive been trying for a week now to get any information as to why its not covered when **** specifically assured that if anything major happened to the car and it became unable to drive they would transfer my lease to an similar value car. Now they are saying it was sold as is when I bought the car it had a working transmission and the issues Im having with the car are purely neglect or failure of knowledge on their end. They are still giving me the run around with the entire ordeal. Telling me they will call me back and never once following through, I always have to call them and try to get answers only to be told they still dont know anything. Im having to find rides to and from work everyday which isnt always possible, while they refuse to make the situation right or simply take their time while they have possession of my broke down car that I pay for. The car was a lemon from early on and I dont appreciate the dirty way Ray Skillman ************* does business.

I want the lease terminated indefinitely which is why I also pursued the attorney general. They have done me wrong since the very beginning and now nobody wants to answer for it. They are making me think they are all dimwits! *************************** who is the lead manager is always unavailable when you ask to speak to him. At this point they are just trying to get to give up on the car which I will gladly return if they end the lease but Im not destroying my credit when *** made all my payments the past year and did everything I was supposed to. They are just a bunch of crooks!

As of this writing, the customer has elected to let their Auto Ins lapse and is refusing to make any payments. Due to the length of time how long this customer has leased this vehicle and the fact they have driven ***** miles, there is no written or agreed upon Warranty. This customer is responsible for all repairs.

    I did agree to make the payments for the transmission and then you guys never reached out about what the payment plan would be for the transmission after many attempts to call and always being told youll call back only to never call me back. Your service department lied saying the transmission was in and would be about 4-5 days to put in the car only to find out 8 days later when I called for an update that the transmission was STILL not in. I have reached out to an attorney and we are in the process of sorting this out. Ray Skillman does bad business and they purposely did not communicate and gave me the run around so that I would have no choice but to seek legal action at the same time of getting a new car from somewhere else due to working full time and being pregnant with loads of drs appointments. They had my car well over a month and failed to communicate or do any work to the car even after I agreed to pay. They can rebuttal all they want but they are in the wrong and anyone with a brain will know that.

    Two different ray skillman locations led us us to believe we were being financed to buy a car. Thats what buy here pay here is. Come to find out they are both leases. Make sure you bring a lawyer to look over everything at ray skillman. You cannot believe a word thet the salespeople say! Or you need to go to law school to understand what you are reading before you sign. Not happy with ray skillman at all. Its impossible to take advantage of the free oil changes that are supposed to be done. They are always fully scheduled or don't have a opening for a month out. You have to leave your car for days. I cant wait for the lease to be up because this whole experience has been awful and i will never recommend to anyone to get a car from ray skillman. I would turn in the keys and walk away now if there wasnt a penalty.

        All Paperwork regarding our In-House Finance Program is gone over in Detail. All customers are well aware of what they are buying and how the payments are figured. The Lease here Pay here is explained in ***************.  If needed I can send copies of all the paperwork. As far as Service is concerned, we have never had to schedule out a month for Oil and Filter changes. 48 to ******************************************* this vehicle for a year and 1/2 we do not have the ability to buy them out of there contract.

    Ray Skillman leased me a non inspected vehicle. I brought vehicle in for maintenance 10/18/2023. I was charged over $1,500 in labor and parts. Only to receive vehicle back with more damages, noises and rough start. Ray Skillman and associates have no desire to help fix the problem without me paying all cost. Repair man did not fix the original problem that vehicle was brought for but I was charged. Associate accused me of causing damage due to me having to keep the car on Sunday because they were closed. *** talked to multiple associates and no one cared nor listened to my problems. The receipt stated they fixed the following : checks engine light, O2 censors, struts, control arms and oil change with tire rotation. My lug nuts were loose also and they stated they had not touched them, because they did not rotate my tires as stated in lease agreement . After returning the vehicle they have now called back to say the control arms were bad and now they have to maintenance the engine specifically the timing chain. I would like to file a complaint and Im willing to take this to court . I want another vehicle or for them to cancel my contract . Ray Skillman damaged the vehicle in their own service department. The damages are no longer within AS IS contract

We are at this time waiting on parts delivery to complete some more repairs per customer complaint. Due to the *** strike parts and parts shipments have been minimal. Our process here is to repair the Customers vehicle not replace it.

    I went to get a car with my money and they said they can help me. Then they said they can help if I trade my truck and cash for a car then when I went to the license office and they said it wasn't in my name and I will have to go back and get them to fix it. After 3times back and forth I told them to come and get it and it went on my credit and never got anything from it. I feel like I been robbed from a business agreement that was not done properly.

    Was contacted by this business 6/10/23 to get a car. Was contacted by ********************************* and she advised on 6/13/23 that I was approved for a vehicle. I get there on 6/14/23 and they had me wait for over an hour just to tell me that I was 2-$300 off their budget. There was absolutely 0 compromise with this place and I took time off from work and my ride did as well. They definitely gave me racists vibes and didn't even attempt to try a different deal to fit the "budget" they were trying to go off of. I left immediately disappointed because why was I told one thing but when I step in the office it was something different. I called to speak with the manager to advise him of me being unhappy and he had no remorse or care about the situation. In all my years of doing business with places have I ever experienced poor customer service like this. This is completely unacceptable

         We do our very best to be upfront and give the customer as much information as we possibly can. We also sell and do all types of Service Work for all customers regardless of Race, Culture, Sexual Orientation and Religious Beliefs. This customer was PRE-Approved for a loan. Once the customer comes in, we then determine if they will get a conventional loan through a bank or *************** or be eligible for the Ray Skillman In House Finance Program. Unfortunately, once they were here and we tried to put the deal together we were unable to get them a loan through any means. All of ** here at Ray Skillman ************* are sorry for the Customers time away from work and the fact we could not sell them a car. As stated before we are unable to help the customer at this time.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined the response would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. 

    I was not told it was a pre approval she specifically said APPROVED! As in come in with money down and test drive. Do not tell me it wasnt race motivated literally everyone in there gave me the most unappealing looks which further made me uncomfortable. You guys did nothing to accommodate me or offered any alternatives. If I were white I guarantee I wouldve left in a vehicle. The area is self explanatory ************* I seen 0 diversity within your staff so your response was ********. This is 2023 not ****. I guarantee this complaint will be addressed by someone much higher than your pay grade. You put a car im no longer paying on in the budget which was obvious sabotage of the deal to begin with. Your general manager had no desire to even address my complaint. S**** this place I wouldnt want to do any business with you anyways since yall operate like *************** laws still exist.!

    I leased a used vehicle from Ray Skillman ********* ***** After a horrible divorce, my credit is not what it was. I was unaware that having less than stellar credit makes you a target for being treated like a second class citizen. This was the 2nd vehicle I have purchased from this location. The first time around was a completely different story. With a combined annual income of $164,000, we were treated like normal human beings. I was starting my new job the following Monday and made the mistake of putting down Friday as my payday when in fact it was Monday. Due to my credit being bad, I was stuck with in-house financing and that required me to make bi-weekly payments. The first payment that was due is when the harassment started. I explained to them that I didn't get paid until Monday and that I would call the payment in at that time. Even after telling them this, between phone calls and threatening text messages, they blew my phone up all weekend. I have never been treated like that by any business in my life, not even an actual collection company years ago. So, when my payment was due 2 weeks later, in a text message, I told them that if the harassment was going to continue every 2 weeks because I don't get paid until Monday, come get the vehicle. I have enough on my plate trying to graduate form college and didn't want the added stress of a car dealership blowing my phone up every weekend. The first time was bad enough that I had to shut my ringer off. ** the interim, my mom was waiting for her house in ********** to close and she was just going to pay the vehicle off. Well, before I even had the vehicle registered in my name, they towed the vehicle out of driveway leaving me with no way to work and kept my $1,500 down payment that I used part of my student loan for. I have been dealing with the general manager and all they do is play games. Never once did I say I couldn't make my payment, I told them I couldn't take the harassment over my payday being on Mon.

         I have emailed several texts and emails from the complaint. This customer did lease a vehicle from **************** in *************. The customer did not fulfill her obligations per the contract she signed. Her payments were not made on time and therefore the vehicle was repossessed. Her down payment was part of her contractual obligations. There is no refund available or anything else we can offer this customer.

    What they are saying is not what happened at all. They allowed me to sign a lease prior to starting a new job. I was under the assumption that I got paid on Fridays and then found out it was in fact on Mondays. The day my first payment was due, I advised them of this and they continued to blow up my phone even though they knew I was at work. The calls and text messages lasted all day Friday and into Saturday. On Monday, I made the payment as promised and thought it was a moot point. Fast forward 2 weeks when my 2nd payment was due and we start the same harassment as the last time. I told ******* that if this was the way it would be for the term of this lease with them starting the harassment on Friday and I dont get paid until Monday, come get the vehicle. On the Wed they came and got the vehicle, I was in class and couldnt answer Crystals threatening text messages right away because I was in class. Once I was able to contact her, I tried to explain to her that my moms house was closing in ********** that day and we were waiting for the proceeds to fund and she was just going to pay the remainder of the lease. ******* told me, well I guess you should have answered me when I texted you earlier. I am a full-time student and wasnt able to answer her. They are open well into the evening and would only call and text my phone while I was at work or school. And it was never just once or twice, it was constant throughout the day. They took my only form of transportation so I lost my job. They refuse to give me back my $1,500 down payment so I have no way of purchasing another vehicle. I didnt even have the vehicle long enough to register it in my name before they took it out of my driveway. The money I used for my down payment was half of my student loan. They have made sure I cant work because I have no vehicle and I start clinicals in **** twice a week to complete the requirements of my degree with no way to get there. This all transpired due to my paydays being on Monday instead of Friday and being a full time student, I dont have extra money laying around because they are hurting for money so bad, they couldnt wait the weekend to get my car $175 car payment. I never once told them I couldnt afford my payment, I told them my payday was 2 days later than originally thought. Then with the harassment, I dont think that was fair of them. *** even tried to say I signed a promise to pay when in fact that subject was never even approached because it was a matter of Saturday and Sunday before I made the payment. Also, I tried to respond to my sales guy the week after I got the vehicle when asked how I liked the vehicle. I told him about the issues I was having less than a week after getting it and was completely ignored. I did not fail to uphold the conditions of the lease. Had their employees not bullied me and harassed me over $175 payment over 2 days, we wouldnt be in this situation. They kept my down payment on a vehicle they took back less than a month after I leased it and made me lose my job. Funny how they didnt treat me this way 3 years ago when my combined income was $164,000/year and I purchased a car from them prior to my divorce and my ex-husband ruining my credit. They used their position as a corporation to harass me over $175.
