On February 11 we signed an agreement contract and paid $500 earnest money to purchase a 2017 Honda CR-V from Honda of Olathe. There was a door ding that needed repair and they were to call us once the repair was made so we could pick up the car. We offered to pay the total amount of the purchase price that day by personal check; however, they asked us to get a cashier's check from our bank instead which we agreed to do. We went to our bank and got the cashier's check and waited for them to call to tell us the car was ready. On Saturday, February 15 ******* from the Honda dealership called to inform us they the sold the car to someone else. They gave us all kinds of excuses as to how this happened and none of them made sense. They said they were sorry but refused to contact the individuals that purchased the car and tell them they needed to return the car as it was already sold. They also told us the agreement contract we signed was only an agreement for the price of the car and the $500 earnest money was just to "secure the price of the car". There is no way this should have ever happened and they should be held accountable for their actions. We would appreciate some assistance with this matter.

    BBB Midwest Plains,

I want to start off by stating I understand **** ***** frustration regarding the 2017 CR-V from Honda of Olathe. **** ***** had put a deposit on the 2017 CR-V and was scheduled to pick it up at a later date once some cosmetic repairs were complete. The vehicle was not marked sold, the vehicle was test driven by another guest and they purchased the vehicle. We apologized to **** ***** and explained what had happened and offered her another like vehicle we found at another dealership in Iowa. **** ***** did not want that specific vehicle and asked for the vehicle she put her deposit on. I apologized again and explained it was an honest mistake and there was no malicious intent, but I could not get her the vehicle she put a deposit on back. I offered to put her in a newer vehicle at a discounted price and they did not want that option either. I refunded **** ***** her $500 deposit.

I appreciate the BBB facilitating the concern and please reach out at ************ with any questions.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, June 13, 2023, I entered the Olathe Honda parts department to order a part for my 2016 Odyssey. I showed the man at the counter two pictures of the back seats and ask him to identify the parts I needed to fix the problem. He said I needed a buckle set part number *************** (order attached). He ordered the part and I returned on June 15th to pick it up and pay for it. The total was $82.86 (receipt attached).

This turned out to be the wrong part so I returned to the Olathe Honda parts department to request a refund. The ***** ******* was called in but he refused to refund my money because I didn't have a thin little plastic bag the part came in. As the conversation continued, this manager became more adamant and disrespectful, even bragging that his own service department had to "eat parts all the time". Translation... nobody gets a refund from this guy.

The last thing he said to me was he is retiring in 30 days so I assume he really didn't care at this point. I am requesting a full refund of $82.86 and a sincere apology from this rude ***** *******.
