I took my 2016 Honda HRV into Honda of Olathe, where I purchased it, for a routine oil change and check-up about two months ago (Aug 2022). The car had ****** miles and had never had the battery changed. I know little about engines, etc., and asked the service attendant whether I should get a new battery due to its age. He said not to worry yet, because of the low mileage. Yesterday, the car wouldn't start, and all lights came on, including Starter. I called the dealership, even though it was after 5, and spoke with the ************* He said it was a 95% chance that it was the battery. I called my son-in-law, who insisted on coming to change it out, and we bought a new battery at **********, and he installed it that evening. That's bad enough, but the important thing is that I was scheduled for surgery at 7 a.m. 36 hours later at KU Med. Imagine if the car wouldn't start that morning! In addition, my son-in-law pointed out that oil had been spilled over part of the engine and left there, and the entire area under the hood was dirty and grimy. NOT how he keeps his own vehicles. Personally, I never look under the hood, not understanding what I'm seeing and trusting the dealership. Should I continue to do that?I called the dealership the morning after the car wouldn't start and asked for the General Manager. The receptionist *promised* that the manager would call me within 30 minutes. He did not.

Hello ****************, This is ******************* and I am the General Manager. I received your message on 10/12 and called you back at the number that was given (ending in ****) and left a voicemail that same day at 11:29AM. The ** greeting said "*******************". I apologize if you did not receive my message, and for any issues that you might have had. As long as a battery is testing good, we would not usually recommend replacing the battery unless the customer wanted to replace it. The changes in weather will test the battery's limits and can be the reason vehicles do not start. Sometimes when changing the oil, some oil may drip/spill around where it is put in. I apologize that that was not cleaned up better by our technician. I would be more than happy to get this cleaned up for you whenever is convenient. I did try to call you again and left another ** message today (10/14) at 1:24PM. Please reach out to me at ************ and leave the best number to reach you if I am unavailable. I would love the opportunity to resolve any issues that you might still have. Sincerely - *******************, General Manager
