Craig came to my home to give me a quote. I received a written contract detailing the scope of the work, the cost, and the warranty. I agreed. Craig showed up on 3/26/2024. He completed the job on 3/29/2024. I paid him $3171.89 which was $284 over the estimate he gave.
I had noticed an issue with how the floor in the back room was cut around the vent when I tried to install a vent cover. A short while later, a piece of the floor in the back doorway started to pop up. Later, a guest noticed the floor in the bathroom had been installed with cuts around the legs of the vanity. The contract clearly stated he would remove the bathroom vanity, install the floor, and reinstall the vanity.
Finding these issues, led me to investigate his work further. I discovered the toilet that he reinstalled was leaking.
I contacted Craig on May 13, 2024. My message was met with no response. I then contacted him again on June 20, 2024. This time, I provided him with pictures of the work that did not meet his contractual obligations. He then responded saying he was sorry and that he would call me with a date and time he could come to fix his work. He never called me. I then messaged him again on June 22, 2024. He responded that he got the stomach bug and he would let me know about a time he could fix these issues. He never contacted me. I then messaged him on July 1, 3, 8, and 9, 2024 all of which were met with no response. He then responded on July 10, 2024 saying he was out of town and that he would give me a day at the end of the week on which he could address the issues. I have not heard from him since. I have attempted to contact him for 3 months with no result. I would like my house complete and for him to fulfil the contract that he wrote by repairing these issues.

We paid Craig F****** of CFI Construction $250 for repairing our gas fireplace on 11/17/23. He worked on it for 2 hours and got the pilot light on. He left with our $250 check and emphasized his 1-year guarantee of his work. Our fireplace light went out again within 2 hours. When we reached him by phone, he said it would be another $400 because now it would need parts and additional labor. When we asked what our initial $250 was for, he agreed to reduce the price and return to fix it for another $200. However, he then quit returning our calls and has never returned to complete the work. We have left multiple texts and emails.

    Business Response

Yesterday I saw the email she sent to me stating that she would like to move forward with getting it fixed. We did initially receive the call went out to the house and was able to get the fireplace up and running after working on it for roughly 2 hours as was . I did receive $250 for the service that day. A few days later I received a call saying it went out. I then went back to the home for no extra charge and worked on it again for roughly an hour and got it back up and running. I received a third call saying it went back out at which point I went back to the customer's house. The husband told me it was on for roughly eight hours before it cut out. We then serviced the fireplace again getting it back up and running with no additional charge at which point I told them because of it keep cutting off after running for 8 hours most likely they will need a pilot light assembly because the thermal couple is not either staying at or reaching a certain temperature and as a fail safe it will close the valve to the gas shutting the fireplace off. The parts can range anywhere from $50 to $100 and then I would need to schedule an appointment to come back and install that pilot light assembly. I informed the customer for the parts and the labor to install the part would be roughly $400. They informed me they thought the initial $250 should cover the cost of this work or at least go towards it. We inform the customer the 250 they already paid is both a service call as well as an assessment and hopefully we can get it back up and running without no further additional charge and or parts. However in this case a pilot light assembly will need to be sourced as well as installed. I did inform them I understand where they're coming from so I told them I would give them $200 off what I would typically charge. I talked to the husband a few weeks back he told me he would think about it and get back to me. I do honor my work for up to 12 months however I did inform the customer this issue is not a result of Labor performed by CFI Construction. I tried on three different occasions to get their fireplace to work without any additional charge for them however being that it's a  20 or 30 year old fireplace, unfortunately parts eventually will need to be changed. From what the customer stated it sounds like they tried to reach out a few times with possibly no response. I did see the email yesterday and responded last night. I informed the customer I will Source the parts and then contact them sometime the next day or Monday and provide them an ETA for the parts and then give them a date for when I can get them on the schedule to install said part. I then woke up this morning to this email so I'm not sure if they haven't saw the email or if this is a delayed message however I did reach out to the customer to get this matter resolved. I would like to apologize if the customer did Reach Out and did not get a response. This is typically not the case, however we are currently extremely busy with several different jobs going on at once right now with roughly Five Guys we employ. That is no excuse just stating it is easy for someone to call and us not see the call or catch the call at the time however in the future if you need to get a hold of me you can call my personal number which is listed on our website and social media. if I don't answer leave a message. Again I am truly sorry for the miscommunication and we are working to resolve this situation. We will be in contact with the customer sometime today or Monday with the expected ETA of the parts as well as when I can add them to the schedule to install said part.

    Thank you

    Craig
