  My lease says i have from the 1st till the 5th to pay my rent. it actually says the 5th at SIX PM. i received a late fee charge of $175 for not getting it paid to the office before 4 when they closed. that’s not what the lease says. plus the check was post dated for the 6th. but banks are closed after 4 and i knew they weren’t cashing it until the 6th, it was my first month paying rent to them and it was a mistake. i also have neighbors that are screaming, and physically fighting, throwing food in the hallway, and throwing stuff downtown the steps and it’s literally scaring my 5 year old autistic child. i’ve called the law like the office said to do but it’s still happening every day/night during what we have stated as “quite hours” on our lease. but was told by the office “unfortunately we can’t do anything about that in apartment living” at this point i would rather have my rent and deposit back & the first months rent i paid, plus the late fee.

  Resident signed a lease- she postdated the check for the 6th due to company policy she had until close of business on the 5th- check was made out for the 6th- we have to go by that date. Had she made it for the the 5th and put it in the dropbox after hours on the 5th then we would have accepted that- she knows the rules. We can not do for one and not the others that is a Fair Housing violation. Her mistake is not a problem we have to accept. We would have to do this for all residents who pay after the due date.
