I was a member of this gym but in September 2023 I used the app to cancel my membership as we are told to do, following proper exit protocol. The owner arranged an exit interview. I attended the call and he didn’t bother to show up. I left voicemails, replied to his text messages, sent messages via the website, emailed, sent direct messages on ******** with no reply. Now understand fully that I knew when I canceled that I was leaving a few weeks of sessions already paid for that I wouldn’t use on the table. He is still billing me monthly though. I think he is a crook. Maybe though he’s just inept and doesn’t know how to cancel your subscription payments. Either way though, the business must be avoided! It’s really a shame because his trainers do a great job despite his unethical business practices.

A person with the first name “***” texted me saying he was offering $100 toward some workouts at his place of business “Barefit”

I was told he needed my credit card for a $10 processing fee.

He used that credit card information for a $176.99 charge and I have not received any of the promised gym training he told me I would be able to take advantage of.

After requesting this charge be removed from my card, he said he would not and that he is not responsible for “unused gym memberships”

I did not agree to a gym membership.

He required online forms be filled out and this person is basically scamming me for money and trying to offer a trial session as compensation when I am a busy person and can not even figure out how to use his trial membership much less deal with the stress he has given me trying to have this membership refunded that I never agreed to.

    Business Response

Here is the history of *****'s relationship with our business:

    1. On 8/29 ***** and I (***) had a meeting, and we discussed the details of his trial membership. We waived $132 for his first 3 weeks, leaving him to pay just a $10 processing fee for 3 weeks of unlimited training.
    2. ***** agreed to the terms of the trial verbally. Then he agreed to the terms in writing.
    3. Less than 24 hours after he signed up, he was emailed a full breakdown of the trial membership. Which included a link to cancel (as needed) directly from our scheduling app. It's seriously as easy to cancel with us as it is to cancel netflix.
    4. We checked in on ***** by text, and on 9/19 he texts back angry that he'd been charged on 9/17. He explained that he never agreed to be charged.
    5. I reminded him of the entire meeting we'd had, as well as the agreement he signed, as well as the email we sent with a comprehensive breakdown of the trial.
    6. He refused to acknowledge any of this information, and proceeded to threaten and personally insult me by text.
    7. I responded calm and clear, and continued to remind him of the agreement. He said "I'll go to any review site I can and leave a negative review."

***** is either wrong in his memory or else reporting the events incorrectly in bad faith.
