Honestly, the most horrible healthcare experience I’ve truly ever had. Tricare will change your PCM and not notify you, deny referrals for no apparent reason, and have zero care for the patients they are serving.

Tricare East recently changed contractors from WPS (terrible) to PGBA (equally terrible). Needless to say, it is not going well. Neither WPS or PGBA shows any ability or willingness to help with an ongoing pricing issue which affected 2 of 10 claims which are identical except for the date of service. Unfortunately, the affected DOS are prior to the effective date of the admin change, so now we are disputing with the new admin. This is for the same patient, provider, diagnosis, and procedure code that has been paid on 8 other claims. While I understand each claim has its own merit, these are identical claims with no reason for the inconsistent processing, but WPS paid inconsistently or nothing at all on two of the claims, but all others paid correctly. The provider was unable to resolve with WPS prior to the admin change, and now trying to resolve with PGBA has been equally frustrating. Reps tell the provider to email disputes to the email address on the website. Then on the next call when confirming receipt, rep tells provider that email may not be active, and fax to this number. Call to confirm receipt and still nothing logged after two weeks plus. The provider should not have to wait this long just b/c the new admin cannot handle the volume. Tricare needs to get it together - not holding my breath. See EVERY single other rating here. The narrative is clear and consistent: Tricare provides disservice to all parties involved.

NEVER enroll in the Continued Health Care Benefits Program (CBHP). They call it bridge coverage between military and civilian, but they require payment for 3 months in advance with no mid-term cancellation. They say you pay per quarter but they don't mean real annual quarters, they make up dates based on when you enroll. The language makes it totally unclear when cancellation is possible. Shameful way to cheat veterans out of a thousand dollars.

NEGATIVE stars is the rating. What an embarassment this company is! Health insurance for the men, women and familes of those who are protecting and serving our nation and this is the best the gov't can do?? What a joke! I now tell everyone I know and hear of who has any interest in joining our armed forces not to do it - because this is your future - your needs not being met during the times that are most critical. TriCare is disgusting to put it mildly. They hardly participate with any providers (probably because they don't want to reimburse), they refuse drug coverage, they refuse imaging services, THREE letters from THREE different doctors for a medically necessary upgrade for a prothstesis? Maybe if you stopped paying employees for 123 holidays per year, you could afford to pay for the items we as customers are medically in need of.

With all due respect, as retired military I wanted to make sure the Board is aware Tricare East which is administered by Humana is by far and away the sorriest excuse of an organization I have ever dealt with in my entire life. For the first two years of our enrollment, my wife and I CONSTANTLY fought to explain we had no other insurance because of some glitch in their system. We probably spent 48 hours! over the two years trying to explain on 20-30 different occasions we had no other insurance. We received many letters and phone calls and suffered many rejected claims because of Tricare / Humana’s absolute total incompetence. On January 12, 2025 we got Blue Cross Blue Shield which became the primary insurance. However, Tricare still rejects claims prior to that date no matter how often we call and try to explain they would be the primary insurance before January 12, 2025 because that was our only insurance. Blue Cross Blue Shield is like a knight in shining armor that saved us from the absolute insanity of Tricare / Humana and the difference between the two organizations is incredibly astounding. So in summary Tricare east which the Board is responsible for is totally incompetent and they need to take their duties seriously and implement reforms to remediate the negligence which is occurring under their watch.

Evil company. I paid them every month, I double checked if I could get them to cover my physical therapy and they said there would be no issues. I pay the copay each visit. A year later I get slammed with bills from the physical therapist and Humana won't pay. They were going to cover it, but then they decided not to. I was only in physical therapy for not even 2 months and I owe them $4000 now. I cant even to afford regular bills right now. I called, I spoke to their supervisor, and they kept trying to send me to different federal offices. Evil company

All around awful. They’re denying care that they used to cover, leaving us with a $1500 bill that we can’t afford. Also, every representative I speak to, is absolutely incompetent and gives you the runaround or puts you on hold. They get paid to do nothing. It’s absurd. Tricare needs to look into who they hire. This is sad.

they reject all my doctors claim because they think (or whatever) i have another primary insurance. My husband was 32 army and now we thought (very wrong) we would have tricare as our health insurance.Every single year the reject my claim and come with a funny (but not funny) remark on my EOBs. It is "OUR RECORDS INDICATE TE PATIENT HAS OTHER INSURANCE THAT IS PRIMARY TO TRICARE" Where they got their records? Out of their Phantasy? So...then i tried to call them in March and tell tell that i have no other insurance only my husbands. The girl told me that it is a computer problem and they will fix it within 10 days. Nothing got fixed...we call middle of march, end of march, beginning april middle april ...nothing always the same 10 day BS. Today 30/4/25 it is still not fixed...i have still no health insurance. Im thinking about to buy another insurance because it is a horrible situation...thats tricare...horror

I have been with Tricare east for 13 years and this is the first time that we have experienced Terrible service from Tricare. Since transferring to the Tricare East region we have received subpar customer service. Tricare east has changed my PCM 3 times and when asked why, I was told by Anitrah- the manager of billing and enrollment that it would take 30 days for them to investigate. They give reference numbers for the calls but when they review the notes, the notes are so minimal that providing a reference number is useless.
When asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told it would be 48 hours before someone returned my call. I asked for an email and she told me they do not have emails. This is the worst customer service experience we have ever received from a Tricare! I look forward to day we receive new orders and hopefully the other Tricare regions are not negligent. The based they have transferred us to seems to have terrible management and is difficult to obtain an appointment! New management is needed, updated systems and processes are needed and overall better customer care.

Has others have already said, customer service is horrible. Humana has the contract now for Tricare East. Since I already have TriCare for Life, I wanted to know what options I had. The first agent that answered my call, Nancy - said I need to call TriCare. I asked again what options they had with regard to Prime and Select, she once again said to call TriCare. I asked again, same answer. I then asked to speak to another agent, Of course, this took a while. Another person gets on line and says she's the supervisor, and she explained, I was not eligible for Prime or Select. Since I was told differently at Fort Belvoir, I hung up and called again hoping to get a more informed agent, this time a Claudia answered. She said the same thing as the first agent, i.e., call TriCare. So, I asked about costs. She wanted to screen me with security questions, saying it was their policy. I submitted to the screening. When asked about the cost of the premiums, she said I was not eligible. I said I wanted to know the costs, why can't she share that with me. She then accused me of being disrespectful. I turned it back on her. Who is being disrespectful. I am asking a question and she is dodging and not answering. I asked her for her full name. She then provided me the cost info. Too bad the Humana has these rude agents because if we can't get passed them, we will never know get Humana and not know how good their medical services are.
