poor business practices. I paid for 1 year service on 09/18/24 $228.80 since that time trash service was intermittent with various issues. I have been in contact with said company; on or about 07/19/24 and was informed a check would be issued in the amount of $95.30 which is not acceptable. during the year trash pickup was sporadic; and there was suppose to be credits for weeks missed. this company needs to be fined. said company indicated that refunds were being held until trash cans are picked up it has been 3 months; since I obtained another service and I still have the trash can in my front yard with no ETA for trash can pick upInitial Complaint

We were overcharged multiple times by this company. Calling to get the overcharges taken care took several attempts each time and caused a lot of stress with our already busy schedule. We have heard from other now former customers that went through the same issue. It is sad to know that some people probably do not pay attention and paid more money than they should have. The only way to get a quick refund was to post about their business or in others cases go to the police to file a report. This company has still not picked up their trash cans and several trash cans can be seen throughout McCracken County. They should not be allowed to operate in other counties while leaving paid for trash in our county.Initial Complaint

American Trash collected $187..20 on June 8, 2024 from me for prepayment of 12 months of trash collection service. They stopped collecting garbage in McCracken County in April according to a ******** post because of permitting issues. There has been no direct communication with me, but another ** post & the local news has indicated they will no longer collect garbage in McCracken County. I have tried to call & message American Trash numerous times with no reply. They owe me $50.40 for missed pickups & the discontinuation of service. October/November 2022, we signed up with American trash. They charged us the annual amount of $228.80 and promise to deliver a can to our home. We are unable to receive service until we have one. Then they pause McCracken services due to “permit issues”. The permit issues resolve, months pass. We contact them over and over. Finally receive a trashcan in April 2023. We were assured that we will not be charged again until it’s time to prepay for our second year (time frame April 24-April 25) until April 2024 because they consider when my can was delivered as the start of our business relationship. We never gave them authority to automatic withdrawal. Yet, We are wrongfully charged in August 2023 the annual amount of $228.80. I call for a refund and they do not accept. They refuse the refund and say they will discount when my next annual fee comes out. We are charged a third time in April 2024 the annual amount again. I call several times, she promises to refund our card and says it can take up to 10 business days. 10 business days come and go, at this point they can’t service McCracken county. I call throughout this time. No responses. I finally get an answer last week, she promises to call on Tuesday and cut a check refund today and personally drop it in our mailbox. Over the weekend, they announce they will no longer conduct business in McCracken. She did not call, she did not answer any of my calls, and the check is not in our mailbox as promised. In summary- we have paid $686.40 in a 17 month period. The annual fee is $228 and we have received 12 months of service total. April 2023 through the first week of April 2024, with missed weeks throughout. We will not receive any future services from them. We would like $456 refund because we should have only paid them one annual fee, rather than the 3 they automatically withdrew from our account.Initial Complaint

I have been a faithful customer of American Trash for 4 years. The company shared in March 2024 that they were waiting on a permit from the state to continue picking up trash in my area. In March 2024, I was charged for a year of service. In April 2024, I was again charged for a year of service. After numerous phone calls requesting a refund (as I was double charged), I received a check refund for amount of a year’s service. In May 2024, the company announced they would no longer be serving my area, permanently. I have reached out to the company numerous times asking for a refund for the year’s service I paid, since there have been no services rendered since I paid. American Trash Service charged our credit card without permission, charged 2 months early, didn’t offer service last year for 8 weeks, didn’t pick up trash this last 7 weeks and is now claiming they are stopping service completely. In June 2023 I paid American Trash Services for a year of weekly residential trash pickup. Beginning on the week of April 2, 2024 my trash has not been picked up. I spoke to the owner, ***** ****** on May 14th and she assured me that my trash would be picked up the following Thursday May 16th. It was not. All attempts to reach them by phone are unsuccessful. Calls go to voicemail or to a message stating the mailbox is full. I want my growing pile of trash picked up and my account credited for the months of service missed.Initial Complaint

Customer of American Trash for several years. While not perfect, I felt it was a good value for garbage collection in McCracken county. American Trash has had recurring permit and vehicle issues that seem to come up more on an annual, more regular basis. Have went several weeks before without pickup, but in 2024 after non pickup starting the first week in April and lasting 3 weeks, i had decided enough is enough and decided to terminate service. You would think that would be the easy part, well it's not. My wife repeatedly tried calling them and finally was able to leave a message of our termination on 5/6/24. They had charged our credit card in January oddly enough. She requested a refund. After examining our current credit card statement, they had charged us 2 more times in April. Checked online, they even charged our card a 4th time. Remember this is annually charged once in May. American Trash has never once reached out to me or my wife. Have left 2-3 voicemails (when its not full). My wife contacted them on ********. No return phonecall. American Trash has incorrectly charged my credit card 4 times for future unrendered service in 2024 (Jan, Apr, Apr, May......$228.80 x 4 = $915.20) I have not uploaded documents but i have paper copies of statements that i will mail, or take in person if i need to get my refund. They should have records of what they have charged. Credit card is closed for business now, American Trash wont hit it again. I might want to leave a more personal statement regarding this whole issue, but will try to end it with a professional one. Failure of service is one thing, but incorrectly charging a customer four times and not admitting fault and taking care of the situation, can be described as fraudulent.
