His quote was good; to replace my old gutters with new, leaf free gutters. He showed up when he said and they worked on something. Then he tells me he needs some up front money to make payroll and I wrote him a check for a little over half the estimate. I ended up in the hospital for 2 weeks after emergency surgery and he had family issues during this time, so no work was done for
3 weeks. Long story short. I got new downspouts in 2 places. I'm not sure he even replaced the gutters in those 2 places, but he explained that he couldn't put leaf guards on the 27' that runs along my kitchen because the roof was flat and the gutter guards wouldn't fit under it. He sat in one of the chairs on my deck and broke it and promised to replace it. I even told him where he could get one, Kroger, and what it would cost $29.00. I never got the chair. He left the broken chair and a pile of leaf guard pieces on my deck. I called him and once again got a promise that he would come by and take care of these things. Needless to say, I've not seen or heard from him since and had to pay someone to take the mess he left out to the curb for the trash men or scrap dealers to pick up. He claims to be licensed and insured. I blame myself for not checking this out before hiring him. He was paid in full and again it's on me that I couldn't check out his work being that it was on my roof and way beyond my field of vision. I strongly believe that he used someone's old gutters and spray painted them to look better. Again, having just had surgery, I didn't check his work as fully as I should have and I certainly couldn't climb a ladder to see what had been done.
