Anyone renting from them, be weary - they bought the apartment building two months into my 1 year lease -I was in the middle of figuring out a severe noise transference /privacy concern of my bedroom wall with the previous landlord who then directed me to the new landlord. The previous landlords building maintenance suspected that when the building was recently renovated for living that they either forgot to insulate the wall or chose a cheaper grade that isnt suitable between apartments. I told this to Goldberg Properties and at first they seemed concerned, met and took pictures of the wall, and offered that if we cant find a solution I can always break the lease. I also said I dont feel comfortable continuing to pay rent until we find a solution, this problem has gone on too long (3.5months at this time) and Im unable to sleep in my own bed. I did not hear from them for weeks. When I reached out they said their maintenance man was away so it would be another couple weeks. After that they gave me a run around that ultimately ended with I either deal with it or I break the lease, only this time they say I have to pay for rent until they find a new tenant. I decided to break the lease but told them I refuse to pay rent when they have not tried to properly check the wall for insulation or resolve the problem whatsoever. They never responded until a month later saying they used my last months rent and security deposit to cover rent after I left. Not okay and it feels like being stolen from. But Im glad to be out and Im lucky I had people to help move me out quickly and that I had a place to move into, but I feel bad for the next unsuspecting tenant who enters a lease with this company who seems more concerned with their bottom line than the quality of living and fairness to their tenants. Not to mention when I moved out the only elevator in the building was STILL broken for the 3rd week in a row, they either dont care or they are not suited to manage apartments.
