      I am likely leaving my Dr.'s practice, after 12 years due to them being taken over by Athena Health. Dr. ** who I really care for has no time for anything now and I am not getting the support i need with health issues.Also getting harrassed by phone calls and e-mails to make an appointment. Calls that I am due to come in even though I was just there a few times in the last 3 months. There is no contact information for the public to contact Athenahealth, just for medical practices looking to buy in or whatever. They just put a sign a door and a smack down to their patients. The friendly, warm atmosphere is gone and so is the personal care. sad for ***** Medical and myself

      On April 7th, 2023, I was looking for a Psychiatrist. I found a virtual Psychiatrist and dialed the phone number. The first thing I asked was whether they accepted my insurance and if they were accenting new patients to which the answer was Yes. However, next appointment isn't until next month. I said ** and went ahead and gave girl on phone all my info. After that she suddenly says she has a cancellation for tomorrow! I'm so pleased Especially since tomorrow is a Saturday and the doctor is open, I ask? She says yes, it's a nurse practioner and she works Saturdays and can refill my meds. I thank the girl profusely! I'm thrilled. I am sent a link so I can set up my virtual appt. Then after all this I get an email saying I must give the nurse my credit card info before she will speak to me tomorrow! (Because I have a deductible) This is 100% false! I have dual insurance, am 100% covered & do NOT have any deductible! I looked up this so called ******** has NO doctor or hospital affiliation, no school history , no photo, nothing! Just an out of state apartment number! I looked up this company who sent me this email atheanhealth, and they have a C rating, have been reported in the past to the BBB as well as fined by the **** OF JUSTICE for taking $ kickbacks! BEWARE of this so called online virtual online Psychiatrist network!

      This is an excerpt from a letter to CEO *******************: Regarding telehealth: Input regarding difficulty of patients connecting met with generic replies of known problem and downloads of prepared material not suited to relevant trouble shooting. Athena promises that patients can use their cell phones, and the failure to deliver that ability is a serious impediment to completion of an encounter. Regarding insurance, billing, and payment: Two cases required several months and input from multiple agents and supervisors. Upon review by internal teams for oversight, responses that came weeks after the date of posting were quite different than provided by CSC representatives on the front line. This has resulted in chaos and a scenario that fulfills the adage the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. The downstream impact on patients has impacted my reputation and caused damage to my practice.Regarding lack of response from COO *********************: An email was sent to **************** on June 23, 2022 in response to his communication about the revenue cycle. Attachments included screenshots of failed visual connections for two patients. He never responded. My CSM learned at an Athena meeting in ****** the week of August 1 that the email address on ******************** letter was incorrect. I was informed that a colleague named **** personally provided my email to ****************, but he has yet to reply. I learned that Athena regards my practice as small, and thus, perhaps unimportant.My suggestions about internal process improvement include assigning CSC case managers; intensified training in respectful professional communication; internal review of cases open more than two weeks with feedback to the client; and uniform regard of all clients by your management team. I hope to be able to recommend Athena again to colleagues in ******* once concerns have been appropriately addressed.

      If I could give a negative number, I would. WORST EVER! My doctor uses Athena Health patient portal. As of July 22, you must register on the NEW portal. When I fill in all info and submit, it says I cannot be located in the system. When I call the support number, it rings through and then disconnects my phone. I made my living for over 30 years in technology; I teach senior courses in dealing with technology. This has got to be the WORST system I have ever encountered. It is so bad, I will be changing doctors because this method is absolutely useless, irritating, and painful, which are 3 items not needed when dealing with any medical issues. I hope they see this. PATHETIC!!

      As a physician using AthenaHealth I would give it a zero if possible. If any practice is thinking of using their system for billing, then RUN AWAY. Their customer service is absolutely horrible. Every single concern is met with resistance and takes months and months to fix. Next to impossible to actually talk to someone that knows how to fix anything. They over charge for their services and vastly underperform. Our group finally moved on to a new system and it has been such a better experience. I would never recommend AthenaHealth to a health care provider and strongly encourage anyone thinking about them to use someone else, anyone else. It couldn't be any worse. The last straw was when they started a new service the day before their monthly cut off to charge you for the entire month, despite the features not being set up to fully function yet (and since they collect a percentage of your billing, they were able to collect that higher percentage for the entire month despite not having access to these features, and this was never explained to us by their sales team). Then after weeks of onboarding, and never being able to set up primary features we needed for our group we asked to downgrade our system. While it took them only a number of days to upgrade our account and charge us more, it took nearly 2 months to downgrade our system. And when asked why we were still being billed for services we were not using the response was "per your agreement the software isn't downgraded until signed off by our managers". So utterly dishonest to hold a business hostage and charge them for services they don't want until they 'have the time' to sign off on it. And of course their favorite response when you ask questions, "I don't handle that, you need to talk to your CSM". But when ever we asked that person they never knew and constantly had to "ask their manager".
