I applied to Ridgeline of Canton Apartments on 6/12/2025 and a tenant screening was completed by Rentgrow and they reported inaccurate information regarding my bankruptcy causing me to not qualify for the Apartments. I put in a dispute because the bankruptcy has been dismissed but they are still showing it as active.Business Response

I applied at ******************** in ******, **. I have a 655 credit score and nothing in collections. I checked my credit bureaus. They denied me, stating I owed an apartment complex I lived in prior $1,400. No where is this on my credit report and I have no knowledge of this. They stated to contact the property if it was in error. I did so and they have no record of me, because they had a new company take over. The phone number to the old company is disconnected and the other number no one answers. I had the management office where I currently live look into this situation and they don't understand where this information came from. This clearly is fraud.Business Response

Rent Grow/Yardi falsifies information and uses heinous/and erroneous statements which imminently deny applicants as a way to profit! To be clear, I applied for an apartment complex where I used to live in ********* just to be denied based on felonious and inaccurate statements which do not align with my credit report. I was told by the property manager at The Cosmopolitan at ************** that I had a charge off on my rental history in tandem with an excessive number of charge offs along with insufficient income which isnt true! I do not have any charge offs on my rental history and currently own a home which I purchased in 2023 for 325K and yet I am getting denied for a rental application? I currently only have 1 charge off on my EXPERIAN credit report. You pieces of s*** will do anything to make a profit and instead of having a fair and equitable system in place you would rather exploit one thing and then use different systems and algorithms to produce more denials than approvals. How is the property I applied to currently exploiting and encouraging those we work for ****** to apply for applications when you average ************** make less than $25 dollars an hour but yet your property guidelines state you have to make at least 3x the rent? ***! [I am rejecting the response provided by RentGrow because they used felonious information and stated that it came from EXPERIAN when it actual didnt and they failed to remove inaccurate information on my application which was then simultaneously used across multiple properties even though I submitted separate applications. I have proof of this being true because ******** has provided dispute updates over the past two weeks stating that they are still working on my dispute and yet RentGrow stated that they used information from ******** to update their results which isnt true because ******** has not completed their dispute process. Additionally, I will be having a lawyer/and law office review my case as well considering RentGrow refuses to use common sense and has continuously violated my consumer rights; specially the ****** Fair Credit Reporting Act.]

I feel like RentGrow just inputs are information in the computer and doesnt look at anything that might be useful about issues that may be going on, and the fact that the housing development that is using RentGrow has units designated for ********** housing and majority of us will love our credit report to be a good standings and its not fair to those that are in need of ********** housing get denied for things of this nature. And I also have a Section 8 voucher which should show I stand in good faith when it comes to paying my rent on time. I disputed a background check that rentgrow provided to a waitlist property. I supplied proof that this was PAID IN FULL and the background check still came back as rejected. There is literally a receipt of payment listed on the Maryland judiciary website that they located this charge. This was not an eviction, as it was COMPLETELY PAID OFF. RENTGROW IS KEEPING MYSELF AND MY FAMILY HOMELESS FROM THIS FALSE INFORMATION ! Pregnant single mother with 3 children cannot move into housing because this company has not done due processs and corrected my background report! I submitted proof of payment. They did not resolve my complaint as it still says I was rejected. I should not be rejected for past due rent that was paid off. The copy of the report from md judiciary case search lists a receipt and I forwarded proof that it was paid off. What more can I do to get this resolved other than seek a lawyer?

My dispute to a false rental collection went unresolved. This is the dispute I sent to RentGrow along with all the supporting documents. Dear RentGrow Team,I am writing to formally dispute the recent denial of my rental application. This decision is unfair and based on inaccurate or incomplete information, and I respectfully request that it be reconsidered.I have over six years of consistent and positive rental history, with no prior issues or negative reports. Additionally, my credit history remains in good standing. The only instance in question relates to *********************** in ********, with whom I never completed a move-in.After applying for a unit at ************, I chose not to proceed with the lease due to the apartment management's failure to disclose important information during the leasing process. I communicated my concerns with the management, and they agreed to issue a refund. I received a final balance letter indicating a $0 balance.Despite this, the apartment community erroneously submitted the refunded amount to ***********************, resulting in a collections entry on my record. I have since repeatedly disputed this charge with *********************** through calls, voicemails, emails, online forms, and mailed lettersall to no avail.I have preserved documentary evidence of my communications with the apartment management, the agreed refund, the $0 balance letter, and my disputes with the collection agency. And they did the normal background check I made them aware of a civil record that was settled in the past which they were willing to work with me until a rent grow report, not only reported inaccurate information but the information they provided wasnt on previous report a few months ago when I received a different report with another management. I have been homeless for 8 months do to the inaccurate reports rent grow has provided potential landlords on information that is not factual. Because nothing change in my life since their last given report. This letter is a final demand to RentGrow to immediately and permanently delete the fraudulent collection accounts reported by *******, *********** **** LLP (*********), listed under account numbers ******** and ********, from my tenant screening report. These accounts were opened without my knowledge or consent and are the result of identity theft. I became aware of them in January 2025 when I was wrongfully denied housing due to their presence.Since that time, I have taken all appropriate steps to resolve the issue. I filed an identity theft report with the *** and submitted a police report. I also provided RentGrow with supporting documentation, including a sworn identity theft affidavit, proof of identification, and proof of address. Despite this, RentGrow has continued to report these accounts, in direct violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).I have made repeated efforts to resolve this: Ive submitted multiple written disputes by mail and email, filed a BBB complaint, and submitted a complaint to the ************************************. You are in violation of **** sections 15 U.S.C. 1681i and 1681c-2, which require that unverifiable or fraudulent information be removed upon receipt of valid identity theft documentation. Your failure to comply has caused serious harm to my housing prospects.I also have an active fraud alert on my credit report. My identity has been used without my consent, and your continued reporting of these false items shows willful neglect of my consumer rights and protections under federal ******* have until May 15, 2025, to permanently delete these accounts and provide written confirmation. If you fail to comply, I will pursue legal action for **** violations, including damages and attorneys fees. I am trying to get housing through HUD in central ********. I am being denied due to RentGrow background check, stating civil cases. When requesting details as to why I was denied, ie what civil case they are referring to, all I get is the same denial email. There is no customer service that I can find, the number just tells you to file disputes online. Very frustrating for a single, homeless, pregnant mother of 3 with another due in August. When reaching out to the individual properties, they are not able to tell me any more information that what rentgrow provided me through a rejection email.Business Response

I filed a dispute with rentgrow 30 days ago due to collections on my credit report that have now been removed. This is the reason why rent grow said my application for an apartment was denied. They still denied me because they said they don't pull a new credit report during the dispute which makes no sense. They suggested I apply at the apartment again and now rent grow denied me due to paid judgements that are sealed. This never came up during the first dispute and I feel they are playing games with approving Mt application. The judgements are verified sealed on the court website and I sent documents to prove this. I want my records updated correctly with rent grow . I don't know why or where they are getting this inaccurate information. Now they want me to wait another 30 days and all I'm trying to do is move. I don't owe any of these people any money.
