      August 14, 2022 $606.91 Car Towing service from ****************** Rest Area to ********************************************************** was charged for 160 miles, the mileage from the tow garage and back NOT the distance from where my car was picked up and brought back to my house, which was around ***** miles. *** AAA agent AND Tow Truck driver told me verbally since I was under 100 miles from home that AAA would cover the cost and I could be reimbursed. When I got my check from AAA it was only for the 60 miles back to my house and not the 160 roundtrip that Interstate Towing charged me. Interstate Towing explained that they are allowed to charge roundtrip if they car is towed from I90 because it is a restricted roadway. I have asked to see paperwork or a contract where that was stated and that I signed. ***y have not produced this and told me to take it up with AAA.

      To whom it may concern,


      Regarding Ms. ********** complaint, that happened on the ********************** August 14, 2022.


      We were notified by the ******************* Police C-10 Barracks to respond to a call I-90 Westbound in the ******** Service Plaza. Once arriving on scene, it was determined that the customer wanted to get towed home to ********************************************************. The customer was informed that they could only use their AAA membership for the hook-up portion only and they would have to submit to AAA for reimbursement for the mileage charges according to their membership level.


      This policy has been set in place by AAA to ensure that they were reimbursing members correctly. We have no control over AAA policies.


      We follow MGL 220 CMR 220 (see attached) for our Light Duty Towing Rates. As stated in MGL 220 CMR 220, the mileage is based on round trip from our shop to the pickup location, to the destination and back to our shop.
      The customer paid for the mileage charges, tolls and fuel surcharge set by the state monthly (see attached invoice) and then they submitted to AAA for reimbursement.


      Its unfortunate ********************** was responsible for charges unexpected; however, this complaint is outside of our regulations.
