I went in to test drive a truck. The mileage listed on the website and told to me by the employee sales rep was ******. After the rep went to get the car keys I looked at the carfax. The car is a 2021 but had been purchased fall of 202. I see that the vehicle had oil changes at roughly 10k, 24k, and 45k by the end of 2022. Oil changes in 2023 were at roughly 49k and 66k. The car sold at auction and was purchased by Automax, and now the mileage said ******. I can't say with certainty that Automax rolled the odometer after purchase, or the dealership/owner did before, but either way, Automax was aware of the discrepancy with the carfax. Not only did they not address it, they flat out lied about it. I spoke to another couple to warn them and I they mentioned that they had test drove a different vehicle there and noticed the same issue. When they pressed the sales rep they were told "oh thats because it was reported in kilometers. After that conversation I met my "sales Rep" and told him about the discrepancy. What did he reply? "Oh thats because its in kilometers. I pointed out the service had only ever been in Michigan and he leaves to "Tell his manager." he returns to say "that was a clerical issues and we already emailed the Valvoline about it." I showed him the 3-4 other oil changes that reported mileage higher than the odometer is currently. He had no more pre-scripted responses. It seems like a common trick they try and pull. I walked out after he asked if I was uncomfortable with the truck. I have video as well that I cant upload

Test drove a used car on a Saturday, said we were likely to buy it, but needed to think about it, and would make a decision by Monday. They asked about financing, and I said I would go through by own credit union, DCU. They made a big deal that I could apply through them for same place, I declined. Decided Monday to buy, made an appointment to come in at 5:30 to sign paperwork. I called DCU, got preapproved. Since I have to drop my credit freeze for this I wanted to get it out of the way. Arrived at dealer first they were angry I applied for a loan on my own, they wanted to go through them. First, they said it would be more convenient for me and save time, but they got very insistent I go through them. I called DCU and confirmed it would be the same rate, so I gave in and filled out the paperwork through them. (This was after they wrongly told me the load office would be closed.) Then I waited 30 minutes to wait for their "Finance guy." After that I was getting annoyed. Then and only then they said I had been declined through them since I had a credit freeze on. (Please note I dropped the freeze for 48 hours with the credit agency DCU uses internally, so this must be one of the other 2 agencies.)This is when things went completely off the rails. I said, well, isn't it lucky I have a preapproved loan through DCU and I just have to upload the P&S! Then they started telling me very firmly I NEEDED to get on my phone and drop my freeze. Wouldn't even tell me which what agency. I was, nope, not doing it, just sell me the car. I said I could even give them I check; I had the money in savings. They INSISTED I needed to finance through them because "they get paid right away." I walked away, but I asked for my paperwork back since it had my info on it and they said, "You signed the privacy agreement we can't legally give it back to you." It was my info! Almost a month later, the car I was going to buy is still on sale.
