I hired Bay State Environment on a referral from the lead-inspection company ASAP Environmental. As I was going through funding from the get-the-lead-out program, I had to go with the lowest bid. They did absolutely terrible work. They ruined my woodwork, dinged the walls, chipped paint, damaged my kitchen counters and appliances, and left and excessive amount of paint chips and dust behind. My child's lead level tripled in the acute period of the work. My child my have life long struggles including learning deficits, behavioral issues, and developmental delays as a result. They did not follow the law in their cleaning or their prep. For example, the law says they needed to cover the walls and then wash them, but you can see that they sprayed the walls and never even wiped them, because the streaks and drips from the spray dried on the wall (and will not come off). There were puddles of dried cleaner on the floor and piles of paint chips once they left. Two of my three closest were not cleaned at all after they sanded the doors and jambs. This was all found after I was moving back in. They had to come back and clean, but didn't do a sufficient job, because they failed again. There were piles of saw dust under the windowsills from after they came to repair where they grinded the sander into my walls. It contained lead dust. So in patching their destruction, they created more lead dust, but didn't use any precautions to protect against the spread of the dust. They scraped my house without putting down the plastic required by law, leaving a ton of paint chips all around the exterior. My child plays in our yard, and now he cannot because it is littered with paint chips. They didn't cover the roof on the first floor when they scraped the wall above it, and all those chips end up on my lawn when the wind blows or if it rains. The work was sloppy, and non-compliant with the law. The *** and DPH have gotten involved. I believe they should have their license revoked.
