Placed a one time purchase with this company in Dec 2023. Though I have zero recollection of signing up for a rewards program, hen contacting the company to inquire on charges, the company states that I enrolled in a rewards program for $16.95 a month starting in January 2024.Looking back through emails, no receipts, billing statements, account registration, or any other form of communication was made until Feb 2025. When I go to the website, it sends password reset information, but once logged in, states I do not have an active membership. When I asked customer support about this, they stated I must have never setup an account. So my complaint is that they have been falsely charging the card used to make a one time purchase for 17 months.I cancelled the account over the phone, and never received confirmation that the account was cancelled. I am contacting my bank's fraud department unless I receive a full refund.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about our Christianbook Rewards program. We genuinely apologize for any confusion regarding the Christianbook Rewards program and that it wasn't clear to you that you had opted to enroll in the 30-day free trial after completing your purchase. It's important to us that our offerings are clear and beneficial for our customers so we send periodic emails every month about your membership status so that you're aware of your active enrollment--we're sorry you missed those. Since you had been a member for so long, we had also mailed you a postcard reminding you of your membership status.

From the screenshot you provided, there's an unread message from February 9 titled "Important Reminder About Your Christianbook Rewards Benefits!", which was another attempted reminder about your membership status. Other recent email reminders were sent on May 24 and April 29.

Our Christianbook Rewards program is not an auto-enrollment program, which means that members have to opt into the program. When you placed your order with us, we presented an offer to receive a rebate on your order. It asked for you to provide your email address, check a box stating that you agreed to the automatic billing and renewal details, and click on the join button and explained that after the 30-day free trial there is a $16.95 monthly fee for Christianbook Rewards.

I've confirmed that your account has been cancelled and will ensure that you're refunded for any charges that were posted to your account for your ********************** Rewards membership.

Please know that your concerns will be shared with the right team for further evaluation. We deeply appreciate your trust in us, and we are committed to ensuring a better experience for you in the future.

I understand that by choosing to accept the business response that my complaint will be closed as resolved.

I opened up a rewards account when purchasing a book as there were shipping benefits. Since I dont use this website regularly, I promptly canceled my account. I have a confirmation email from 9/25/24. I have been repeatedly charged a membership fee even though I have a cancellation email. They accused me of opening up a new account an hour after I canceled.

Ordered some books from the website and, like many others here, discovered that I had somehow "opted-in" to a "rewards program" where the only reward appears to be $16.95 deducted from my account every month. It would seem to me that if this many people are not aware they are "opting-in" to this fantastic rewards program, maybe the business would make it more clear that you are agreeing to perpetual charges for "rewards" or something; or, even better, stop charging this fee since it might be confused with something nefarious.

I just saw a charge on my credit card for $16.95 from *********************************. It also indicated the purchase was in person rather than online etc. I searched and found that Christianbook.com has a rewards program that is $16,95/month after a one month free trial. I did not sign up for that and do not want to.

I ordered a book on Christianbook.com for my nieces November 2023, at a cost of approximately $6.00. Not realizing that by making that purchase I was automatically enrolled in an 30 Day Free Trial, opting into a monthly debit of $***** taken out of my account. I was never informed of this at the time of my original purchase. I NEVER, NEVER, EVER knowingly Opt In to any of these types of offers. As a ******* Manager for over 25 years, I counsel my clients to NEVER EVER knowingly enter into these kind of agreements! They've deducted ***** every month since then!! I just noticed that Ive paid "Christianbook, LLC" almost $375.00 that I was unaware of!! I spoke, to what I believe was a supervisor, directly and she agreed that this happens and theyve had numerous complaints about this deceptive practice and passed some of the blame on malware. I've read many other complaints and see I'm not alone. Buyer Beware!!

I purchased what I thought was a set of books on April 29th. I used a ****** search engine to look for the set of books and theirs was the first result so I clicked and bought the item. I didn't realize when I bought it that I was purchasing the teachers guide for the product. It tricked me because the photo I was looking at was a picture of the set of books I wanted. They do have a return policy but I would still be losing $10 at the end of the day. I reached out to the business through their live chat asking for either a discount on the set or credit to buy the set and they declined. I realize it was my mistake in ordering the wrong book and I do acknowledge they have a return policy but you don't get the full amount back and have to pay for *********** the end, I wish I had just used Amazon because they have better customer service and the ease of returns is infinitely better. I do feel like it wasn't clear when ordering that based on the photo they provided that I was only ordering the teachers guide. I felt a bit tricked and when I asked for some slack I recieved ******* a homeschool mom on a tight budget, I will be moving my services to ****** from now on where at least I can make my purchases more confidently.

I ordered a book about ten months ago and never received it. I have, since then, been repeatedly billed for that same book. Money has been automatically withdrawn from my banking account. I am a pro-bono pastor and part time history teacher. Fraud like this hurts in a very real way. I suspect that this 'company' flies the banner 'Christianbooks' to disguise a scam operation. ******.
