I needed a book for grad school almost two years ago; I found the cheapest price on Christian Books, purchased it, and failed to realize I had entered into a membership. And since have been charged a monthly fee! As this cc is attached to my banking account, we somehow missed all these charges and now see that we have charges and interest racking up to over $500! It was my understanding that companies need to notify you if you did a trial, which it seems I have, and then recurring payments begin.....Business Response

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about our Christianbook Rewards program. We genuinely apologize for any confusion regarding the Christianbook Rewards program and that it wasn't clear to you that you had opted to enroll in the 30-day free trial after completing your purchase. It's important to us that our offerings are clear and beneficial for our customers so we email members monthly reminders about their membership and benefits and even mailed you a postcard reminder last fall--we're sorry you missed those.
Our Christianbook Rewards program is not an auto-enrollment program, which means that members have to opt into the program. When you placed your order with us, we presented an offer to receive a rebate on your order. It asked for you to provide your email address and click on the join button and explained that after the 30-day free trial there is a $16.95 monthly fee for Christianbook Rewards.
I'll confirm that your account has been cancelled and will ensure that you're refunded for any charges that were posted to your account for your ********************** Rewards membership.
Please know that your concerns will be shared with the right team for further evaluation. We deeply appreciate your trust in us, and we are committed to ensuring a better experience for you in the futureCustomer Answer

A continual charge on my credit card of ***** for over the last year, for a rewards program that I have no knowledge of ever agreeing to sign up for. I do not truly care about a refund I just want the charges to stop. I like Christian ***** they have always been reliable and have delivered my books in good condition and on time.Again, I do not fully care about a refund for all of the charges for this rewards program, I just want the charges to stop. If it is possible to get a refund, I would like one. My request is for the charges to stop, I have not used this rewards program and did not know that it existed. Stop the payments, and please give me a refund if possible.Business Response

I have made several online purchases over the years to christianbook.com. Apparently somewhere along the way I was signed up for a rewards program of some sort without my knowledge or permission. I have been incurring a monthly ****** charge of $14.95 from christianbook.com.I would never sign up for a rewards program like this. Clearly this is a scam. I am asking for the recurring charge to stop immediately and a refund of $299 which has been sent to christianbook.com monthly since July 2023.Business Response

Christianbook.com has charged my card $16.95 for the past seven months without my consent or my knowledge. The charges are for a rewards program that I most certainly did not opt into. I ordered several childrens books from the company for a total of $60.44 and have since been charged ~$85 as part of this scam. It is extremely unsettling and sickening that a company with that claims to operate in a Christian manner would bilk customers out of money. I would like to be refunded for the entirety of the "rewards" program that I was unaware I was participating in. It seems that many other unsatisfied customers have had a similar experience and that all agree that they did not opt in and that they were not made aware of ongoing charges.Business Response

I purchased an item with them on 9/7/2023 and since then they have managed to charge me $16.95 every month since 2023. I cannot believe this was happening, this is a robbery! I made a purchase for an item and did not agree to purchase any lifetime rewards membership. I will never use this company and I will pass on this information around my town to all the co-ops I know and blogs to uncover their criminal and abusive behavior. I will find all the channels to get my money back.Business Response

I placed an order with christianbook.com on December 9, to purchase Christian ********* gifts. However, I recently discovered that I have been charged $16.95 monthly since then for a "reward" program that I never knowingly signed up for. At no point during my purchase did I agree to any recurring charges, nor was I made aware that I was enrolling in a subscription service. This practice is unacceptable, feels deceptive and does not align with the ethical standards I would expect from a ****************** I have reached out to request a refund for these unauthorized charges and expect the company to correct this issue promptly. I urge others to carefully check their statements after purchasing from this company to avoid unexpected fees.I am disappointed by this experience and hope Christianbook.com will take responsibility for ensuring that all charges are transparent and fully disclosed at checkout.Business Response

I have not ordered from ChristianBook.com since December 2024. Today my credit card said I charged $16.95 at ChristianBook.com. I don't know why I was charged anything and my account does not show any purchase. People are saying it is for a subscription - but I did not subscribe to anything from ChristianBook.com. I hope I can cancel this with my credit card company. This is outrageous ,Business Response
