I ordered a Bible for my grandma to gift to a grandchild for graduation around April 2023. She started noticing charges of $14.95 a month for 5 months totaling $74.75. I have made contact several time with the company and finally got the membership that I clearly did not sign up for cancelled; however, I am looking for a full refund for my grandmother. I cancelled a membership the next day after recieving my order and relized the membersgip was attatched to it. It was free for thirty days it stated but i cancelled when i got the order and saw the membership,but i have a charge pending of ***** to be taken out of my account. The amount was supposed to be ***** for the membership, the order was placed oct. 5th recieved product shortly afterward and cancelled it. Spoke with ****** to recancel Nov. 4th today. My bank shows charge pending ****** stated they recieved the payment and it would take 3 to 5 business days to recieve the ***** back. Bad pactice for that business and others should know of the deceptions. I hope i recieve my money backBusiness Response

Today I noticed a charge for $14.95. I had not ordered anything recently from Christian **** recently. I have learned this is for a membership for Christian **** Rewards. I never signed up for this program and I have been charged for four months. I didn't notice the charges before as I thought they were book orders I had made. My wife had simply ordered some books for my Child through this website. There was no membership created, nor any account made for this purchase. They have charged my account a $14.95 account membership fee, for something we did not sign up for. I was able to call and cancel. But had already been charged 3 seperate times for something we DID NOT sign up for! Very deceptive business practices for a christian ********* I do expect a full refund of $44.85 back to my account. This will also be reported to the ************************ (FTC). Regardless of fine print, there needs to be an acknowledgment of I agree to this membership. I have made some purchases in the past year through christianbooks.com for my homeschool curriculum. Just a few individual books, nothing like a set or comprehensive curriculum. So over the last three months I've been noticing a recurring charge of $14.95 from christianbooks.com. When I first noticed it, I didn't really pay much attention. Now, after three months of getting charged and not purchasing ANYTHING, I am aware of these deductions and also aware of NOT agreeing to anything relating to allowing this deduction. I have sent an email, and will call on Monday. I will ask/demand a refund, but if they deny, is there anything I can do on the legal side? This is infuriating! It's theft.Business Response

I was very confused to see $16.95 taken out of my account at 4:30am. I have bought many of my ********* books from this company, and know I wasn't on the internet at that time. When I investigated further, I see that I was enrolled in a rewards program without my knowledge or consent. When I looked at the christianbooks.com site, I don't see anywhere that an enrollment in a membership program would cost any monthly fee. To charge someone a monthly fee without clear notice seems underhanded. Please refund me my $16.95. I did find the place to cancel the membership and have done so. Thank you.Business Response

We placed an order with ChristianBook Shop on 2-Oct-2023, totalling approx $447.17 USD Part of the order wasn't available at the time, so it was placed on backorder with the estimated stock arriving on 6-Oct-2023 On the 5th of October, I sent a message to ChristianBook Shop (CBS) if it was possible to change one of the backordered items to a different version (see Supporting Document CBS - Question 1)I was then responded to by CBS in an email stating that they had removed that item from my order and for the different version, I would have to create a new order for it (see Supporting Document CBS - Response 1)This wasnt what I had asked at all. I replied immediately to CBS to not cancel that item if it couldnt be changed, but I was greeted with a reply from them saying, 'too late, order the different item', and 'dont worry, we havent charged you for that item'. (See Supporting Document CBS - Interaction 2)However, they have charged us for part of that item as the shipping and handling costs for the entire item, had all been paid and collected by CBS when they sent the 'in stock' part of the order. This cost of shipping was $56.64 USD + additional tax of 15%, as I am basede in ** and there are regulatory taxes of 15% that CBS charge on top of our order to send here (See Support Document CBS - Order 1)If we were to order the cancelled item, an additional $31.61 USD + 15% tax would be incurred (see Supporting Document CBS - Additional Shipping Cost). This is the amount that we would be out of pocket because of their error in cancelling this item from our original order For resolution, we would like either of the below solutions to be provided for by CBS:1. Refund of $31.61 USD + 15% tax to reimburse shipping, handling and its tax for the cancelled item 2. Send the item as it was on backorder and keep the original order cost of $447.17 USD. As per their T's and C's, backordered items do not incur additional shipping costs. This is ideal solution Thank youBusiness Response

We ordered a school curriculum and we received the wrong book. They apologized and resent the order and then resent the same wrong book again. Now we are two weeks late on the curriculum we need. They said they would send the order with two day shipping and now we get an email that they had their inventory wrong and they cannot fill the order at this time. We called to complain and their was no effort to correct the problem. They simply did not care and when we explained what happened and said we were going to leave a negative review they simply said "ok" with no apology or effort to rectify the problem. Very poor customer service. Very disorganized. This is the second time we've had problems with them listing inventory they don't actually have. We will not support this business again.
