On 15 June 2024 we purchased a Mercury 9.9 hp outboard motor carburetor to 15 hp upgraded carburator and it has not worked correctly since we installed it last July 2024, the total price of the carburetor, two spark plugs 2 gaskets was $295.98 this includes a 3 year warranty that we paid for. It did not work correctly when first installed and recently in Feb 2025 we tried to get it to work properly again and still runs with less power and not realiable than the origional factory parts. Also the metal parts on their carburetor now has some corrosion and the external rubber seal/boot is falling apart, these are quality issues from an inferior product. We tried to contact them for months, there is NO phone number to talk to anyone. Finally after emailing their sales department and submitting requests through their website, ****** in Sales? responded and asked that we put it back on the boat engine and try it again, so again I did to see if he could help to make make it work correctly. I sent ****** and sales a detailed email of the results with pictures, receipts and reminded them we purchased a warranty and to please make it right, because this carburetor is defective from day one! I have sent several follow-up emails and inquiries through their website and they are just ignoring me. The last email to sales and website submitted inquiry I told them I was going to get the BBB involved, still no reply. It appears to me this company is just ripping the public off will and does not stand behind the products they sell of the fabulous claims they make on their website. I asked them to make it right send me a new 9.9hp to 15 hp carburetor that works properly like I originally thought I purchased.Customer Answer

I have not heard from the Ready Set Boat in response to my complaint after submitting to the BBB for resolution. It appears from reading other complaints this is typical of this company. Apparently they do not stand behind their products, product statements, or warranties they sell.Initial Complaint

On June 6th, 2024 I purchased a 115HP Mercury 4-Stroke Outboard Starter from Ready Set Boat. Item # ST119-230728-M115 (2yr warranty). The part was not the correct part, so it was returned with the return invoice per instructions from the web site. The item was delivered on June 17th at 2:40PM. I had not received a credit or a reply to my email, so I did a follow up email on July 8th and then again on July 17th. The phone number that is listed doesn't allow you to talk to customer service or leave a message, it only directs you to email them. The emails were sent to [email protected] still have not received a credit.Customer Answer

I still have not received the refund in my account and it doesnt even show that the refund is pending yet. I dont want to close out my complaint until my refund shows up in my account because I do not trust the company after this. Please leave this complaint open until I see the refund.

The customers claim is untrue. He never used the parts so I'm not sure how he can claim it didn't work or was a scam. A restock fee was charged per our refund policy clearly stated on our website, and in which he was directed to before returning the order. A full refund, minus the restock fee, was issued.Initial Complaint

I purchased a carburetor and prop set from Ready Set Boat. The product did not fit the engine that it was said to match on their website. They gave me the information on where to return the part for a 20 percent restocking fee charge. I sent the part in and have not received any refund. I cannot get ahold of them and have been attempting to for weeks. I would like them to honor their return policy and refund my money.Business Response

Just to clarify - the customer stated that "they placed this order by mistake". It does fit what the website says it fits. A refund (less the restock fee) has been issued for $199.98.

I find it very unprofessional that you guys did not want to reply or issue a refund until this got reported to the BBB. Big thank you to them as this wouldnt have been possible without the BBB. I hope that you guys can improve your customer service as that seems to be your businesss downfall.

This requires an override which we are working on. Our policy is to provide a replacement item if the one the customer receives is defective - but the customer had ************************ bought one somewhere else. So we are going above and beyond to assist with a refund that is against our policies and a refund should be issued soon.Customer Answer

I appreciate ************** trying to go above and beyond but
1. all transactions have been electronic and an override and refund should take minutes not weeks2. The neglect to respond to my questions in my emails and lack of proactive communication is the most frustrating of all
3. I would like ************** to define soon with a date the refund will be issued as soon is extremely vague
