Karen Pryor Clicker Training Academy (KPA) is a great educational and certifying body and I am grateful to have done a handful of courses through KPA - including the Dog Trainer Professional Program (*** course). This course helped fill in a lot of gaps in my training and knowledge and helped me learn how to write concise and effective training plans and it helped clean up my mechanics.KPA is also run by a wonderful, progressive, and innovative team who I am proud to stand behind as a community member.I highly recommend Karen Pryor Academy and the *** course to any trainer looking to further their education and skill.

As an experienced positive dog trainer, veterinarian, and dog sport competitor, I can confidently say the Karen Pryor Academys CTP course is an outstanding program. It delivers a wealth of knowledge with actionable strategies you can apply immediately in your training business, group classes, and private sessions. For new trainers, it provides a solid foundation with ongoing support and access to cutting-edge information. For experienced professionals, it offers a small-group learning environment with direct mentorship from the kind, incredibly skilled, internationally recognized, Karen Pryor faculty. The opportunity to receive individualized feedback from world-renowned instructors is invaluable.Concerns about cost? Consider whats included: eight days of facility rental over four months, expert instruction, comprehensive resources, advertising, and organizational support. If you run a training business, you understand what it takes to offer high-quality, in-person ************* training remains an unregulated field, and high standards matter. Certification and professional education elevate our industry, ensuring the best outcomes for animals and their humans. No program is right for everyone, but if youre serious about taking your skills to the next level, this course is well worth the investment. If you commit to it, use its many resources, and put in the effort, youll walk away a better trainerand the animals you work with will thank you.Becoming part of this internationally known and respected organization is one of the best decisions Ive ever made. I have never once regretted it.

After enrolling in this course and only completing the first 2 or 3 chapters, I contacted the business and let them know due to personal reasons I was unable to continue the course. As the modules are only opened to view one at a time, I had no access to any modules past the ones I had completed. Their website mentioned that as long as it was within a certain time frame, you would be refunded MINUS the the modules you had already accessed, which I was completely fine with. Once letting them know, they told me that this policy only applies to one of their locations, not the location in my state. This "refund" policy was easy to find on their website, but the small detail of it only applying to one location was buried in fine print, conveniently. If I had gone through half of the course and attended any of their in-person Trainings, I would understand being stuck paying for the program. HOWEVER, I literally didn't ******* past the 3rd module, I never attended ANY of their in person trainings. I literally learned and gained and took nothing from this company, they never had to spend one second teaching me or my dog, and yet I was refused a partial refund.I was happy to have been stuck paying for my deposit and for the modules I opened. However, I am being charged over $4,000 for portions of a program I have never accessed, and training weekends I never attended. My credit is now RUINED due to a greed-driven company who was more concerned with a paycheck than with issuing a fair, partial refund.I can no longer purchase a vehicle or apply for a home loan, due to my credit which was destroyed unfairly by this predatory company.

On March 30, 2023 ****** Greery applied to our program. At that time she acknowledged by signature that she had read our Student Handbook Policies document. The document clearly states

    General Policy
The following policy applies to all students enrolled in all formats of the Dog Trainer Professional program, EXCEPT for students living in **************** (see section 6B).
Tuition is non-refundable once enrollment is complete, except as follows:
? If a student withdraws within 5 days of enrollment AND before viewing Lesson 1*, the tuition paid is 100% reimbursable, minus a $50 administrative charge and the tuition deposit. A student must notify the administrator by email at ********************************** within that time if they wish to withdraw.
Please write Withdraw in the subject line. *The Academy uses the system's resources to determine if a ****** has been viewed.

Greery lives in ********* and does not qualify for the State of Washington refund policy.

On April 6, 2022, Greery had a phone interview with our Application coordinator. During this interview she was asked if she had read the Student Handbook and if she had any questions. She was then asked if she understood that tuition is nonrefundable once enrollment occurs, as stated in the Student Handbook. She said yes to both questions.

On 4/29/2023, Greery willingly signed the loan agreement with our 3rd party financing company and acknowledged her clear understanding of the terms of the financial loan agreement.

On June 6, 2023 Greery reached out to our organization requesting to withdraw from the course and wanted a refund. Her refund request was denied and she indicated in writing that she would default on her loan agreement.

I was so excited at the potential of KPA and the reputation of the trainers they put out, but unfortunately my experience was horrible. They refused to help me navigate a solution regarding disability and course structure, greatly misrepresented the format of the class and expectations for success. It was a massive waste of money, unfortunately, and I was unable to even complete my audit version of the course and could not get ahold of any kind of support to make use of the information paid for even if unable to certify. All around an awful experience.

Haven taken the *** CTP class, I no longer see it as a certification that means anything, and will not list myself as a *** CTP. I'm embarrassed to admit that I wasted over $5000 on a course where the only new information I gained is the ***-branded words for the rest of the training industry's standard terms. Even my course instructor thinks the exercises are watered-down and the course is too easy. Thinking about enrolling in ***? Did you just complete your first dog's first class and have money and time to burn? Go for it! The online format and breadth of basics is great for a novice who's looking to build a foundation. Do you already understand operant conditioning and shaping to the point where you could teach complex tricks to your friends' dogs with ease? Please spend your money elsewhere and actually learn something new!

WOW! I am SHOCKED at the negative reviews this has gotten. I graduated from KPA 2 1/2 years ago and it has TRANSFORMED my life and my business! I am 100% positive that I went to the BEST dog training school out there!! 1) OF COURSE they want you to adopt their form of training... they (I should say we) pride themselves in USING clicker training. I cannot recommend this dog training school enough!!
