I was referred to Garside Monuments by a member of my Church and did not anticipate the predicament I would later be in...trying to get my money back for services never rendered. When you are grieving the loss of a loved one, the last thing you think about is being taken advantage of. That is exactly what ** at Garside Monuments has done. I connected with him in March of 2022 to start the planning process of a gravestone for my Mother (who passed in October of 2021). A deposit was given April 28, 2022 for $1500 and another payment of $2000 made via Discover on July 18, 2022. From there, a final payment of $879.00 was to be delivered upon completion in Aug. A deadline of Oct.6, 2022 was in agreement. That extended to Nov. then Dec. with a firm deadline of April 27, 2023. I managed to receive back $1500 on May 3, 2023 and was told by ** that he would approve a refund request to Discover Card. My card temporarily refunded my card and then recharged it stating they could not confirm with ** at Garside Monument, the Merchant, thereby saying I needed him to confirm a refund is due. I am looking to have my card refunded so I can move on and pay the new company I had to hire to complete the work. I have also filed a complaint with the ************************** and that Report# is 23-1550-OF

In September we paid in full for a cemetery monument from Garside. Garside lied repeatedly about the status of progress. After 7 months of no progress ******* we filed a small claims case in District Court. Garside failed to attend the hearing in which the court issued a judgement requiring a refund with penalties ($2898). Garside has failed to comply with the order. We are without either the money or the monument. Garside has given no indication of the intent to comply. We are waiting for the court ordered refund.

I have not heard from the business in response to my complaint.  This is typical for Garside. Collect the money then run and hide.

11/14/2022 ordered an engraved granite marker for my deceased Mothers gravesite. I asked the cemetery for a recommendation and they gave me the information for Garside Monuments. My credit card was charged $893.75 on 11/14/2022. I approved a draft of the engraving on 11/22/22. ** told me that he had the granite marker in stock so it would only take 2-3 weeks to complete. I emailed and left a voicemail on 12/20/2022 requesting an update. ** called me on 12/21 and told me that the engraving was done but installation may be delayed due to winter. He promised to send me a photo of the engraved granite on 12/23. He did not send the promised photo. On 01/06/2023, I sent another email requesting the photo. I have left multiple voicemails and emails without a response. On May 1, 2023, I sent an email stating that if he couldnt complete the job within a week, I would like a refund. JT has not responded. Garside Monuments has not completed the granite marker that I paid for on 11/14/2022.

I went to Garside Monuments in ******** ** on May 25th 2022 to get a head stone for my daughter's grave. The owner ***************** was the one to help with selecting a stone that was already carved with some flowers on the top in his showroom then, he claimed it would save alot of time because it did not need to be ordered and shipped back and forth for carving. The aforementioned stone was gray, I really wanted pink granite but went with that one because of the time. Gave *** a check in the full amount $1250.00 he said 3-4 weeks it would be done. But first it had to be okayed by the cemetary, then we would have to sign off on the blueprint for the final carving her name etc. About a month went by no word from JT. I called cemetary, I guess there was a problem with the rules, ** never told me, I had to get it approved thru cem. Commissioners, I did, it was a go. ** says he never heard from cem., I called cem. They left JT a message but would send him another msg.,this was on Oct. 31st. ** promised to look for it and it would be done very soon and he would keep me in the loop. That was the last time I spoke with him. I called him several times over the next few months no response last time was just before Christmas. He had excuses of covid hit his whole family, a family emergency etc.. Still no head stone on my daughter's grave and I have not heard back from him at all. We ran a GoFundMe to raise this money for ********************************* Burrial. He took our money and promised to put the headstone and has failed to do so. He has not been reachable does not return calls. My daughter ********* has emailed him as well and again no response. In my opinion he is a thief. He stole $1250.00! He did not deliver the goods and services already paid for in full. He also said he could put the date on my mom's stone but again no work has been done. Garside Monuments should NOT be recommended to any 1 for any business. This caused much stress and heartache for us all! ******* DESERVES STONE!

In May of 2023, I first contacted Garside Monuments of ********, **. in regards to have a bronze plaque made for my late husband's interment in the niche wall at Fairview Cemetery in N **********, **. This company was referred to me by the staff at the ********** Cemetery office. After a few phone calls, ** finally called me back. I told him what I would like to be put on the plaque. He asked me to send it to him by email. He told me that he would send me a composite as to what it looked like. I never heard back, & once I finally did get him on the phone, he claimed that he never received my email. I asked him to check his spam ********* told me it was ********** would work on it. By ******, his excuses were that ******** family had *****, the "foundry" was slow due to Covid. In Oct, ** reached out to me, to tell me that the plaque was being worked on & asked me to send him a check for the cost. He quoted me an odd amount around $366.00 ,so I sent him a check for $375.00. He said he would send me an invoice with a copy of the composite, but again nothing. He cash the check on Oct. 27th. No response in ************ Jan, I called from a different ********** answered but claimed that he was JT's secretary, I knew that it was him, same voice but a little higher, who does that! After more messages,he texted me back on his cell saying that he was with another customer & would call me, now into Feb. never happened I have given him enough time, now I am going with a different more professional company to honor my late husband. My husband passed away last April, much too long for this to be going on. I have a copy of the cancelled check & I would just like ** to give me my money back, which he said he would do 2 weeks ago. He actually told me that he would refund me the money & would do the job for free!I am not sure what is happening to this company but I am sure **'s grandfather is not pleased with the outcome. Sad to play with people's emotions.

On November 2, 2022 I placed a phone order for a granite mailbox post and kit set with installation. The seller requested the full amount of $775.88 charged up front. I was told verbally the seller was expecting posts in from his supplier that weekend, and that the engraving process for the house number would be quick after that. I was never quoted a delivery date, but was lead to believe the process of having the post installed at my home would take 1 to 2 weeks at most. I was also told the invoice would be made and sent to me that weekend.I had to request the invoice several times; first was told it would be mailed to me, then when nothing arrived in the mail, an email. The email wasnt received either until I sent the seller an email to his business requesting he respond with my invoice. It took nearly 2 weeks to get a copy of my invoice. The mailed copy was never received. The delivery timeframe for the post kept moving out each time I called to enquire for status. Emails and calls werent returned. I informed the seller that I couldnt wait past Thanksgiving week for the service to be completed. On the 23rd, I was told the post came in and the engraver was coming to work on it that day. Installation would be Friday the 25th.Installation never happened and emails requesting status not responded to. Basically everything the owner told me about the availability of stock and delivery timing via phone was not true. On Monday the 28th, I called my credit card company to begin a charge dispute. I also informed the owner of Garside Monuments that I was canceling my order due to lack of service. I received an email from Garside Monuments that I would be credited. Prior communications and promises from Garside Monuments were not kept, therefore I am concerned the refund will not take place. The business practices of Garside Monuments are questionable. I feel like Ive been scammed into paying for something they did not have and had no intention of providing me.

I hired Garside Monuments (***************) to engrave my mother's date of death on her gravestone, earlier this year. My mother had purchased the stone back in 2010 from the original owner of the company (**'s grandfather). I paid JT $250 in March. He advised me that because it was winter he had to wait until the weather was consistently warm in order to engrave the stone, he quoted me by May or June. By July nothing was done. I called but he ignored my calls. Finally in July he called me back and said it would be done by the end of that week. It wasn't. We continued to call and he continued to ignore our calls. Finally he called back in August and told my fianc it would be done by the end of that week. It wasn't. It has been 6 months since I have paid him and nothing has been done and he is avoiding me. I can't go to his store front because it's only open by appointment and there is no one there. I've seen someone else's review online saying he did the same exact thing to her, only she gave up and hired someone else. This is unacceptable.
