1 starDon't waste your time or money with this despicable company, Dream Yacht Charter. They refused to compensate us for a trip that went nowhere. The boat was in terrible mechanical condition. We lost the first 2 days of our trip due to repairs. The main sail would not hoist, batteries were dead. We were horrified to discover that the long rope in the anchor locker was not attached to the anchor! We had only 110 feet of chain. We motored 18 miles to a DYC facility. The "mechanic" was a local yacht skipper with no parts, no specialty training. He made the sails usable, called the anchoring gear "a load of crap" and sent us on our way to another DYC facility 20 miles further for help with the anchoring gear. Our steering failed - the wheel spun freely. We called the coast guard and were escorted to a mooring The mechanic came on board, had to source parts, but had a family death. He returned 3 days later as promised and repaired the steering but warned us that it would fail again, the steering system needed specialty care, and we needed to proceed to the next island to the DYC facility there. The steering failed again in the open seas between islands. We called the coast guard again; they provided us with a mooring and the captain of the port to assist us. We insisted DYC send a mechanic and he arrived with a repair - plastic cable ties! He moved the vessel to the DYC facility where the staff refused to repair the boat to our satisfaction. Each time something failed on the boat we attempted to call DYC but no one answered our calls. Bottom line, we paid for one month, were 13 days on board, and only moved from one DYC repair place to another. When we asked for a refund, we were offered 25%. We paid $25,472.10 for the trip. DYC offered us $6368.10. My biggest mistake was not reading the company reviews before signing a contract. I'm not the only sailor who was robbed of my vacation. DYC it appears, has a bad reputation in the industry.Review fromKevin K

5 starsWe chartered twice at Raiatea French Polynesia (paradise). We are a couple and we sailed the yachts ourselves. These yachts are extremely complicated systems and this and that will happen. But in balance, we were entirely satisfied with the support we received, with the insurance policy (which we had to use once due to our error) and with the overall experience. These guys will let you sail all over the south pacific doing 50 NM passages, and they enthusiastically encourage it! At every mooring and anchorage in the region (and we sailed everywhere in the venue), we saw DYC yachts in fully functional condition with happy clients. I'm concerned that these extremely negative reviews are going to chase them out of existence. To tell the truth, given the increasing risks and complexities of this business, I was wondering what keeps them at it.Review fromjessica M

1 starWe had a week at the st Martin location and it was complete malpractice of business. Our boat had a gas explosion where we had a fire and burns, our tanks were leaking and no water maker and a dinghy motor that wouldn’t turn on for the entire week. The lost went up to 14 items that I won’t list here. They advertise these items when you purchase the boat as working and won’t refund you if they don’t. They were difficult to work with during and after our stay. The gas oven explosion was so abrupt it blew us back from the oven, later to find pipe gas parts in a drawer later- they clearly knew about the problem and didn’t do anything to fix it- send the boat out non sea worthy and “deal with it” is their attitude. This company needs to be reviewed by the business bureau immediately.Review fromAnastasiya N

1 starAspects of fraud, terrible service and lack of customer focus are what you can expect from Dream Yacht Charter representatives, in particular Lisa ******** (Croatian office) and Ekaterina *********** (Head of Sales for European offices).
On 17.07 we provided 100% prepayment for our charter, which was due to depart on 12.08. However, until 09.08 Dream Yacht Charter representatives claimed that they did not see the funds in their bank account.
We contacted our bank and verified successful payment. For the next three weeks we relentlessly kept in touch with the Croatian office, sending them emails and calling the managers. All communication was initiated from our side only! The captain made a personal visit. But the Dream Yacht Charter staff did not care at all.
They offered us to come to the lagoon and make the 100% cash-based payment again - as if we were fools. We had already transferred the funds! Total fraud!
Lisa ******** from the Croatian office showed indecent indifference to our problems with the cashless payment. She did not contact the company bank until TWO WEEKS after the funds were transferred and only after a personal visit by our captain to the office.
We had to contact American customer service. It was only after that we heard from Ekaterina ***********. (By the way, we repeatedly contacted Ekaterina and received only an indifferent answer: "we don't see any money"). Only two days before the charter our funds were found in the bank account.
Most of our team is from Ukraine, and we are restricted to traveling only by ground transportation. The journey takes more than two days. Considering our circumstances, we requested a 70% refund of the payment or rescheduling of the charter, but we were simply ignored.
I strongly urge everyone to avoid Dream Yacht Charter at all costs. Their fraudulent behavior and disregard for their customers is unacceptable. I will never do business with them again and I will share my negative experience with others.Review fromKelsey D

1 starMy husband and I, and several of our friends, recently returned from a trip with DYC. To say we were disappointed with our trip would be an understatement.

Overall: Terrible customer service. No concern for guests satisfaction or safety. The captain abandoned the boat and his job several nights to "go ashore" and hang out with friends and smoke weed. He would return at 3am. He changed our predetermined sailing itinerary up on us several times, against all guests objection.
The generator on the boat was broken the whole time and we had no air conditioning. It was so hot in the cabins that our Iphones' heat warning were coming on and guests had to sleep on the deck. And no generator meant we couldn't produce fresh water so we were told we could not shower for several days. There wasn't enough adult life jackets for everyone so we couldn't all snorkel.
Captain and stew were screaming at each other in front of guests. This was recorded on video as it lasted over an hour. Stew quit mid charter and refused to cook for us.
The food was terrible compared to previous charters. We had to spend our own money on provisions at a marina mid charter in order to have adequate breakfast food.
Many other issues. The company refuses to take responsibility and adequately compensate us for a nightmare of a trip. Stay far far away.Review fromMichael P

1 starChartered in Tahiti in April, the boat was poorly maintained and we spent hours in the bilge fixing water pressure, steering and water maker problems. Truly the boat was unsafe and we almost returned the 2nd day when the steering failed. The roof was damaged and leaked in the rain, the mainsail wouldn't fully raise and was covered in mold. Galley was ill stocked without even a toaster which in the ad said it did have. The port side head didn't work, fuel line to dinghy had no clamp and kept falling off spilling fuel, low battery alarm Stbd side constantly sounding off, Stbd helm seat broken, propane tank ran out 2nd day which we replaced for $38 and no compensation, had to turn off the tank after each use. The beds had a single old sheet and towels were old... the boat smelled of mold and was only 10 years old. With all the issues we had to work on daily you'd think DreamYacht would have made some kind of compensation, but nothing, not even an apology! We used ***** ******** in the BVI;'s a year prior and they were excellent and the boat was amazing so do your shopping and read reviews!Review fromColleen C

1 starBareboat chartered twice know with a women’s travel company. Tahiti and Belize. The boats are in terrible condition. Engine failure. Generator failure. Water maker failure. Glassware instead of plastic. Dingy was ok after we adjusted the engine mounts. Bird nests in the sail stack pack, a bat living in one boat that sailed with us the whole time. No way to get water onto boat. Broken fridges, broken windlass, they tell you not to use things on the boat. This is a terrible company. If I could give a negative review I would. I will never get on a dream yacht boat ever again, even if that means I do t travel with my sailing group. But I think they are done with DYC as well. Anyone with a brain would be. A week in sweltering heat with no water maker, no ice, no generator was actually making people sick.Review fromChristine R

Dream Yacht Charter is a terrible company with zero customer service. Once they have your money, it is gone no matter what the circumstance may be. No refunds, no travel credits, no regard for customer satisfaction. After reading the many reviews from dissatisfied clients about the poor and unsafe quality of the boats, I would advise to steer clear away and book with a reputable charter company not this sham of a business!Liz H

Dream Yacht Charter is listed as the owner of the boat that I signed up to charter and therefore I am beholden to their cancellation policy or lack thereof. I used a broker to secure the yacht for my particular dates, but Dream Yacht Charter is the company that has my money and offers no recourse. That is the reason for my review.
