Terrible experience with Dream Yacht Charter. We purchased a boat from them and put it into charter in one of their programs. Multiple problems during the years that we were contracted with them, but the biggest issue was transferring the vessel at the end of the contract. Although Dream Yacht charter profited tremendously from our catamaran while in charter, it was terribly neglected and ill-maintained during those four years. Dream Yacht attempted to transfer the vessel to us in this horrific state. We declined to take ownership, and spent the next three months project managing to get the work done, that was contractually agreed upon prior to transfer, and ultimately did much of the work ourselves. The staff at the base that was assisting us was wonderful. But they are poorly under-staffed and grievously under-resourced. Additionally, Dream Yacht Charter was not able to provide a notarized bill of sale that would allow us to properly flag and register our vessel. I have contacted multiple people in the company regarding this issue numerous times over the past four months with no resolution. I would strongly advise avoiding Dream Yacht Charter.

Riatea to Tahiti- Nov 1-11, 2022
This was our 1st sailing trip of this type so we will keep it brief
    - Overall experience- 5
Due to other passengers ** board, we had a really good time even with all the rain. Canadian, Swiss, Austrian, German, Irish, all could speak English so communication in a group setting was easy.
    - Boat - 4.5 - Captain took good care
A few little things that could be easily fixed like snaps, buckles and cabinet hardware
    - Food - 4.0
Was expecting more fish and vegetables. They were creative with the dishes but a little repetitive in selection
    - Locations for Snorkeling- 4.5
Some of the neatest locations We've ever experienced. Water was always warm and you could stay out easily for over an hour and never get a chill. Water was clear, live Coral types was different from why we've seen before.
    - Excursions - 3.0 and last event a 4.5
Interesting to see the local towns and learn a bit of the history of Polynesia
    - Captain and Crew - 4.0
Captain could have been more communicative with passengers. We felt like we were being kept in the dark a lot. More info about days events, change of plans due to weather and even a description of the menu would have been nice
We would recommend this trip to our friends and will definitely be looking to take another sailing trip soon as this was an amazing experience for us.

Our cruise took place from 29 May to 5 June 2022, we would like to inform you of our immense disappointment as to the course of this cruise. The boat was dirty, poorly maintained, faulty, the skipper incompetent or even dangerous, and the cook inexperienced. NEVER again Dream yacht charter.

We just completed a Dream Yacht Charter in Spain on a 2018 Dufour 520. This only four year old boat was in terrible shape: The instruments did not work, the bow thruster (quite helpful in narrow Spanish harbors when docking stern-to) was shot, the sails extremely tired, the upholstery in the cockpit shabby and ripped, in the salon mismatched (!) and not fitting together. Various nuts and bolts were missing, causing interior boat parts to collapse in heavy seas ( nothing crucial though), the bilge pump had o float switch and only drained when held manually. The check-out team seemed to be aware of problems with the boat, but nonetheless prepared for another charter that same afternoon. Reading the prior comments it seems that Dream Yacht Charter follows a business plan that does not include maintenance or time-out periods for the boat and equipment. Certainly a disappointment for customers and buyers of relatively new boats coming out of the fleet.

Worst charter experience we have ever had (over 20 previous bareboat charters). Unsafe, uncaring, unresponsive, unwilling to try and make it right. We chartered for 2 weeks out of Nassau in July. Reserved a 1.5 year old Lagoon 40 in hopes of getting a nice boat in good condition.
This is not a vendetta against DYC. I'd love to help them improve and make things right not just for myself but for others as well. The avenues I have tried to accomplish this so far have not worked and their proposed $300 refund on a 2 week charter is indicative of how they handle things. People should be aware.
The largest problem was that when issues were found, DYC just said that's the way it is and did nothing to make it better on our charter. Then when we returned, they offered $300 compensation which is ridiculous considering the missing AC and safety issues we encountered. I have chartered with big companies and small companies and have never been treated like this.

    Issues:
AC on port side had been removed, staff knew about this for a long time, did not try to fix before or after our trip. We planned on AC and this prevented my elderly Mom and Dad from joining us on this trip.

Port rudder large damage, bent shaft, bottom 1-2" missing. Had been this way for a while given the algae growth. Steering is a big deal when navigating reefs and sandbars.

110V toaster / blender given on 220V boat. We used the toaster and it caught fire, requiring some quick thinking to avoid disaster. DYC should NOT have 110V appliances on a 220V boat. Never imagined we would need to check the voltage before using.

Unsafe dinghy, failed once, replacement dinghy leaked, had JB welded wood plug, did not run well. The leaking tube nearly prevented us from getting back to our boat during a squall, very dangerous.

Mis-calibrated depth gauge. We checked with a lead line, if we trusted what DYC told us we would have run aground

    Please consider DYC carefully.
