Like others, I wanted to support a local newspaper that does a good job of reporting. Unfortunately the billing has overcharged me and impossible to rectify by calling several times. Cancelling and notifying my VISA card to decline payment and not accept any future charges, only because the company was unable to resolve this issue directly with me.The Baltimore Sun Media Group

September 23, 2024 Our sincere apologies regarding any inconvenience or misunderstanding associated with your former Baltimore Sun digital subscription. The information you provided within this BBB Review and your digital account is being reviewed and proper course of action will be taken, if needed. It seems that Customer Service has processed the cancellation on your subscription effective September 25, 2024. Due to your credit card dispute the monies were returned back to your credit card therefore a balance due is reflected on your account. Also, it seems that the last two payments declined therefore the next payment amount was different due to the inability to obtain payment. Due to your feedback and in the interest of fairness, I have processed a credit in the amount of $64.61 which would be the remaining balance due therefore no further balance is due at this time. Please disregard any bill statements received. Should you have any further concerns or would like to restart your account, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Department at 443-692-9011. In Febuary 2020 I was fooled into signing up for a "free trial'' subscription online digital news service, assuming it was a for a limited trial period. I recently discovered that the Baltimore Sun continued to charge my card $36.04 monthly for a service I never utilized. I can confidently state that was I totally unaware that that I was "Locking in" a monthly subscription. I contacted customer service who could only cancel my subscription, but not refund any monies already deducted from my account. I would have never believed that the Baltimore sun paper that I grew up with would employ what I can only call deceptive business practices, I feel duped. The Baltimore Sun Media Group

I work for a tax exempt organization. Despite having submitted our tax exempt certificate and continual contact with the ***** *** ******** ******** ***** reps (there's a clue right there for anyone considering a subscription), the finance department has not amended the monthly subscription charge to exclude taxes. They say they observe tax-exempt orgs, but it's been four months now. Needless to say, the idea of getting a refund for the tax charges they've already collected is misguided hope at best. It seems obvious they will continue this tax collection. I have to wonder what happens with the tax $$ collected. I'll do everything possible to persuade my supervisor to cancel this subscription, which --if I'm successful-- promises to be a fun experience based on the other reviews. Shoddy business practice. The Baltimore Sun Media Group

Do yourself a favor and DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THEIR SERVICES. They caught me in a grocery store asking if I wanted coupons and a $10 Shop Rite gift card. Naturally I said yes. I was uneasy when they asked for my card info but, kept going with the sign up thinking I would cancel when I left the store. They make it very difficult to cancel their services, and I regretfully brushed it off for over a year. Last week I finally got ahold of someone from another country, this should have been a quick "please cancel my services" request but the woman would not stop asking if I wanted different promotional services. After 10 minutes of trying to explain I do not want ANYTHING from the Baltimore Sun, she finally agreed to cancel. I've been getting several calls since then to sign back up, one of which was at 8pm, Past their business hours? Anyways, I finally answered to be greeted with "Hey! we miss you and want to offer great promotional offers" I politely told him I want nothing to do with this company, no services, and want to be removed from their call log. He hung up on me. HALLELUJAH. Hopefully this mess is over with. Also, I see their responses to other complaints offering for customer service to reach out within 7 days. PLEASE DO NOT HAVE THEM CALL ME! I'M OVER IT!The Baltimore Sun Media Group

I signed up for the paper(at a store) and I received maybe two papers. I then cancelled the subscription, money was still taken for the subscription, it took me forever to get into contact with someone to say again that I wanted it cancelled and my money back. I am now being called every other day and receiving unwanted emails to sign back up for this nonsense. Even though they say I am on a recorded line and should have me clearly stating I do not want their service and to please take my number and info out of their system. The Baltimore Sun Media Group

I signed up for a year of access. The terms & conditions when I signed up said that the subscription could be cancelled online on the Sun's website. When I tried to stop automatic subscription renewals, I learned that they lied and there is no option to cancel on their website. When I then contacted them via email to stop automatic renewals at the end of my prepaid period, they instead cancelled my subscription immediately, cutting off my access despite me having already paid upfront for a year in advance, and didn't refund my money. So they lied to me, stole my money, and didn't provide the service advertised. No one should ever do business with this company. The Baltimore Sun Media Group

Have had issues with home delivery since September. Numerous calls to report non-delivery of papers and as of today 11/9/2023, no resolution, false promises of having the issue taken care of. Promises of applying credit to the account for the missed papers. However, what's the point of crediting the account when they continueto fail to deliver the paper? The Baltimore Sun Media Group
