Service was terrible came time to renew contract and I told them not to renew that I would find another carrier when it ran out. Turns out they signed me for a new contract anyway and when I would call customer service would just repeatedly hang up on me now they are turning charges into collections. Has been a horrible experience from beginning to end.

I was a hughes net customer since 2/2023 knowing there was a 2 year contract. It was nice in the beginning but i started to notice the internet slowing doen. I've called plenty of times about slow internet because i work from home and became not as effective. 11/2023 I moved to a new address. They told me I wouldn't be charged and everything was good to go. I called about the speed a few more times but nothing really helped. 9/2024 I called to cancel my plan, void the contract and go with another company but Hughes net offered to match other company's price and internet speed if I stay. I tried to give the internet time to adjust. I called a few times but here we are 7/2025 and I have had enough. I called to cancel my plan. I explained the reasoning then they told me I'd have to pay $280 for early termination fees. I told them my contract was over at the beginning of 2025. They then informed me that the 2 year contract started over when I moved then again when they offered to change my plan. I explained that I was not informed of those contract extensions and that my app said my commitment date was 7/02/2025. I was under the impression that I've completed my 2 year commitment and is now paying on a monthly basis. While I was on the phone with the operator my commitment date changed to 9/2026, the date they matched the other company's plan. I was told the 2 year commitment started over because they added a promotion to one of their existing plans. No one explained any of that to me on any of the calls previous to today. 7/2/2025. I believe they're trying to get money out of me anyway they can due to me leaving.

No stars. I am writing a review for my elderly mother, who is supposed to have internet/phone services through HughesNet in ****. My step-father was admitted to a ** at the start of June, leaving my 85-year-old mother alone in rural ****. I am her daughter, living in **, and have wanted to call her every 2-3 days to check on her. Her phone does not receive incoming calls. It does not ring and my brother has verified it is hooked up right and the ringer was on. I made calls to HughesNet "customer service" (and I use the term loosely) 6 times in June, 6/2, 6/4, 6/9, 6/10, 6/18 and 6/27. I have all the names of the employees I have spoken with, I was on hold several times for 45 minutes to an hour and nothing has been fixed. I cannot call my mother and she is paying for a service she is not getting!!! Not until the last call did they offer to send a technician out "free of charge", now we are just going to go with a new company. Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my 60+ years on earth. They should not be in business.

Our service was lousy to say the least. We contacted Hughes net several times and they adjusted signal numbers on my phone to help pick up better . None of them worked in fact the last time it blocked us from getting a signal at all. My husband called once again in May - the tech told him he was too far from the box for it to work! He was standing next to it at that time! The tech told him it would only pick up -up to 14 feet away ! We struggled with this a year - finally we cancelled and they were to send the box to return the equipment. That hasnt come - it has been six weeks! But they took the money out of our account for service. Last night my husband talked to several on the help line at Hughesnet they said we had an early termination fee due and it had not been canceled. We feel this is not right because we have begged for assistance to make this work! We cancelled so that month should have not been charged AND they were at fault for not being able to provide the service we signed up for . Yes Ive turned them in to the BBB but - they have deducted $225. From our account this morning. This is not right !!!

I would not recommend this service to anyone! Everytime it rains our internet goes out. We were having problems streaming so I called Dish, they did a test and our internet speed was 0.04 mbps. No wonder our streaming was nothing but buffering!! . We run out of priority data with ***** days and then have speeds next to zero!! We want out of our contract to be able to go to something that will be there for us!! Being on disability only we cant afford to go up in price! Ive asked for discounts for seniors, hardships, etc but am always told no! From reading other reviews it seems like that is Hughesnet favorite word!! I will be filing a complaint with the BBB shortly!

Hello - I have been a 5 year customer with **********************. My internet recently went out for 5 days. On June 25, 2025, I contacted HughesNet. After an hour on the phone, where we literally restarted the device 5 times and they kept asking for the service code. Finally, I was forwarded to second level support and they decided to send a technician. They initially said it would cost me $150 for a technician to come out until they realized that I was a paying service customer. They assigned the service time between 11:00am-2:00pm ET on June 27. Thursday, June 26 I received a call that I would receive notification through text and call when the technician is on their way. I did not receive any notification through text or call on the arrival. When the technician arrived, he did not explain anything, did some type repair and left. After leaving we noticed now two satellite dishes. The operable dish is on the ground and the old dish is still mounted on the pole. I called Hughesnet and this is how they treat a customer by saying to contact my waste management to remove the old satellite dish because the technician has the support case closed. How can the support case be closed when the technician just left? And the HughesNet agent insisted it was my responsibility in a raised tone. I asked for a manager. The manager started down the same direction toward my option of following waste management instructions to remove the satellite dish. I repeated the old dish is mounted and the new dish is on the ground. This case is not closed and it is very much open. Why? It was not properly installed, It is not safe. My mother has a safety issue with this dish on the ground. HughesNet cannot simply push this off on a 3rd party installer saying it is not their problem. HughesNet is responsible for deploying an unreliable third party to perform a repair. This is a Hughesnet unprofessional service call and a safety issue.

We tried to cancel our service and switch to another service that we already had set up but our 2 year commitment wasnt up. In that phone call they offered to reduce our rate for the remaining 7 months. When we called back 7 months later they said we had committed to another year with the reduced rate and refused to cancel our service without the early termination fee. The amount of data in our $120 plan was not enough to stream shows. Every month we had additional fees added. The internet service is poor, the customer service is poor and there are better options out there.

I had the weirdest experience with their sales **** I told her I need to get wifi for my parents and since the previous landlord used them. I wanted to see what plans they offered. She said they would need to do a soft pull. I told her ok. She sounded surprised by my response. I told her again yes, I give you permission to do a soft pull. Which bureaus are they going to be checking so I can unfreeze my credit. She told me, its not that type of credit check and that I didnt need to unfreeze anything!!! WRONG! So, I had to ask again what info do you need from me to do the soft pull?! Of course she told me, my credit didnt go through because I had a FREEZE. SMH!After pulling, she text me the rates and discount (while on the phone with her) of what they can offer me I asked if they have a 1 year contract since my parents lease is only for 1 year. She said yes thats what the rates are. Then I asked her why does the contract state 2 years? She then said, I can cancel at anytime! I asked if I cancel before the 2 years, wouldnt there be a penalty? she hesitated to answer. After having to dig the answer out of her. I realized I dont trust this company. Yes, there is like a $600 penalty! The *** seems very misleading and unethical. I decided to contact a local provider and signed with them within the hour. If it wasnt for the previous landlord I would have thought this company is a scammer!

Ive been dealing with HughesNet for the last 10 plus years. The service is very poor, but they want their money regardless. For the last 9 months, HughesNet has been trying to bill me twice a month for one service. We have tried to resolve this, but they still are trying to get an extra monthly fee as late as 5/14/25. At this point my banks have suggested another method of pay because they take money that doesnt belong to them. So I mail in my payment, but they insist that I pay back the money they stole out of my accounts. They dont have my cards now so when they try to draft a second payment, theyre blocked so they shut off my service. They tried it with both bank accounts. ********************** is the only internet service provider in the rural areas , and they take advantage of it. They are trying their best to convince me that I owe them when they were stealing money. I want my account back to a monthly status without any pass due. Ive never missed a payment so Im confused as to what they are talking about. You cant bill a customer twice a month unless they agree to it.
