Got a loan using my car as collateral beginning of April. Lost my job a few weeks later. I reached out via email beginning of June seeing if there were anyways we could work out a deal since I missed my first payment. Come July 3rd 2025 my car was taken. I reached out the same day multiple times but was not answered then hung up on. It's now July 9th ******************************************************************* law stats they have to notify me within 5 days via mail about the matter yet it's been 6 days and I have heard nothing. By law they have to also allow me to collect any personal belongings but how can I do that if I can't get a response back. After doing some online research this company is known for deceptive and predatory business practices and I will be pursuing legal representation. Yes I missed a payment, but I tried to reach out weeks beforehand to work something out to which I never received a reply. This company simply just wants to ruin people who are in tough situations lives. I've missed job opportunities because of there actions. 10/10 don't recommend anyone to do any kind of business with this company.Business Response

Ms. ******, had a loan with Bay Country. After going to legal, Ms. ****** paid the loan off through the attorney. She can dispute the credit line with ******* and we can have it removed. She previously reported the credit line as identity fraud which is not accurate. She can report for the balance showing and we can delete it for that.
Thank you

The company reported my account as being in collections with the credit bureau and had the account removed from my credit file. The account has never been in collections and there has never been any agreement to have the debt removed. The loan was paid as agreed in full. The credit file must be restored to reflect this as this will stay on my credit file for 7 years as a paid off loan.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: The credit file reflects 100% of payments were made on time. The loan has been paid in full. I am not getting credit for paying this loan off. Also, if the creditor discovers that an error has been made on a consumer credit file, the credit file can be restored in a timely manner by calling the credit agency.

I have spoken with Equifax. They informed me that the creditor has to call to indicate that there was an error made in both putting in collections and having the history of the loan completely removed.Business Response

Complaint: 22901236
I am rejecting this response because:In order to be fair to the consumer and show good faith, the credit file should be restored in its original state before the error was made. The company had opportunity before the error to document any delinquent payments before the duration of the loan and before the loan was paid in full. It is documented that the loan has been paid as agreed for at least 2 years. If the file is not restored to its original state, I will forward the complaint to the state of *********** office.

Although the file has been closed, the matter is not resolved with the creditor because the credit file has not yet been restored as the company stated in their response. It is important that this happens because of the impact to your credit because it reflects the loan has been paid in full. The lender acts as if they have an attitude with me because of my inquiry when I have paid them back in full and want credit for that.Business Response

I opened this acct on 06/21/2021 I received $3,030.00 but was financed on $ 3,666.50 with a monthly payment of $145.19 with my first payment due on the 10th of every month starting on 08/10/2021. My interest rate was 24% and financed charged amount of $1, 560.34 that was a total of $5, 226.84. I made my payments from my debit card, money orders, and checking account. Recently I tried to make a payment but, on the website, it stated that my account was closed. I, called and spoke with a rude female who verified the account was closed because it was paid in full, but I had to now pay all of the late fees. I told her it was only one posted on the site in the amount of $29.00. My last payment was due 7/10/24. I stated to her how was that possible she then transferred me to the manager. I told the manager the situation and I asked for a copy of my statement. He then told me the $29.00 was incorrect and that I owed $38.00 per fee. After going back and forth he then stated "you need to make this payment through him, or my collateral (2013 inifinti JX35) will be repo. I asked him for a copy of my contract, it was sent to me in the mail, and he included my payment history. Enclosed was a copy of all the payments with the late fees. After reviewing I notice most of my payments had late fees added were added on the on the 10th and the payment was made. According to the statement I had a total of 18 payments of $38.00 late fees and 3 payments of $76.00 for each of the late fees. Some of these fees I should have not received because the payment was made before. As of today, the remaining balance I still owe according to them is $1, 788.96. When I make my payments, I pay online with an additional $12.00 fee to make the payment. These are incorrect amounts. I then called back to speak to the manager and asked for my payment history statement again and told him that according to the site my late fee was $29.00 it was listed on my last payment statement on the site.Business Response

I opened a $4k loan on my 2017 infinity QX60 (which is worth over $20k). I paid my last payment of $189 in August, my went out in Maternity leave August 19th and was out of work for 8 weeks due to have a c-section. I was unable to make my last 2 payments. I came out this morning on 11/10 and my car was gone. I never receive any communication from bag country that they were going to repossess my car. No call, no email, no text, no letter in be mail. They ruined my front lawn from towing my vehicle. My infants car seat base and stroller and my toddlers car seat is in my car along with my badge to get into work. This is so outrages that my car was repoed over $333 past due payment and that they did not try to contact me at all to arrange payments.Business Response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:I am aware that I missed a payment however the time frame in which a repossession letter was sent out and when the vehicle was repossessed is extremely concerning to me. Bay country claimed they tried every possible way to reach me about my missed payment but I find that hard to believe. I switched cell phone companies so I did not receive a phone call but the company had my email address in file that I had previous conversations with them in the past about insurance and such, so they could have easily sent me an email to inform me they were going to repossess my vehicle but they didn't. They also had my work number that if they called it would have been a direct line to reach me, they never did that. They claimed they called my work number and someone answered and told them I didn't work there but I am the only person that has access to that number and phone at work and I checked the call log and there was zero calls from them. I moved a street over from my address they had on file but I still have communication with my old landlord at the address and I she sends me a text when I get mail there and I asked her if I received any certified letters and she informed me that I did not. I had an emergency c-section on August 19th while 38 weeks pregnant and I was out of work for 8 weeks so I was behind on many bills but It also slipped my mind to make a payment on this $4k loan I had with bay country with everything going on. My vehicle is a 2017 Infiniti QX60 that I maid over 25k cash for so I would never purposely let it get repossessed over a 4k personal loan I got on it. I feel like bay country did not do their due diligence with attempting to contact me before taking the extreme step of repossessing my vehicle and with their lack of communication with me it caused me to miss a day of work that I did not get paid for, and I also had to pay $300 to get my vehicle out of the tow yard and the tow company they used to repossess my vehicle, ripped up my grass in my front yard when taking my vehicle from my property. According to the laws I read, a loan company is not permitted to reposes a vehicle without proof that the owner received written notification stating they are going to reposes the vehicle if they do not get their loan up to date. If they were able to find my address to repossess the vehicle, they should have made the same effort to send me a letter to the address. From what I've been reading, they do this often to customers and they have a consistent lack in communication with customers and they are so quick to just reposes a vehicle after less than 60 days of being late on a loan payment. I believe they wanted my vehicle so they purposely did what they could to evade notifying me about my vehicle being repossessed because my vehicle is worth so much money and my loan with them was so little.

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:bay country has claimed they attempted to contact me however they absolutely did not. As I stated in the office the morning of the day my vehicle was towed, I had zero idea that my vehicle was being towed over 2 missed payments. Bay country claimed they sent me a letter and left me messages and some how left my mother a message but I never gave them my mothers phone number or gave them authorization to call my mother and this is honestly the first time I'm hearing about them attempting to call her... I would have never let me vehicle be repossessed with all of my 3 month old daughters transportation items such as a car seat base, a stroller, baby carrier as well as my other children's car seats and my work badge inside the vehicle causing me to miss a day of work without pay and having to pay to have the vehicle taken out of repossession all on the same day. I want to be compensated for the fee I had to pay for having the vehicle repossessed because if bay country successfully communicated with me about wanting to repo my vehicle over two payments being missed and gave me a realistic timeline of what I needed to pay and when I needed to pay it to avoid repossession I absolutely would have done so. If my intention was to now pay and let my car get repossessed I wouldn't have paid the missed payments and the fee to the tow yard to get my vehicle out the same day it was taken from my property and if I was aware of the repossession they issued I wouldn't have called 911 to report my vehicle stolen at 6:20 in the morning getting ready to go to work only to find out my vehicle was actually repossessed. Just because you were nice to me in the office doesn't make what you did to me okay. You caused me such an inconvenience that was completely uncalled for and unwarranted and if I knew that my vehicle would be reposed over 2 missed payments I would have never got a loan out with you. Maybe it's in the fine print somewhere but I feel as though that's something you verbally make customers aware of at the time of the loan disbursement. I've never heard of a repossession over 2 missed payments before until I read all the reviews from bay country. It's really sad to see that in a time like this that bay country is so quick to take peoples vehicles over 2 missed payments of $147 honestly. I can only imagine how many customers they have done this to that just completely threw off peoples days, weeks, months, ect. If you want people to keep coming back after their loans are paid off, this is absolutely not the way to do so. HAVE A HEART Bay Country...like I said in your office...I did not intentionally miss two payments it was absolutely an accident due to me having an emergency c-section and having a new infant in the house and I always found It off that you guys don't send some sort of email notification of late payments or outstanding payments. If you did, this would have never happened. Me coming outside to be vehicle being gone was an absolute surprise and I was so shocked to find out it was repossessed. Do the right thing here by your customer... I would really liked to be compensated for my 8 hours of work I missed as well but if you compensate me for at least the tow charge, I can let this go and I will take my own measures to make sure a payment is NEVER missed again because clearly communication and customers alerts are not your strong suit over at Bay Country

I owed a balance and they repossessed my vehicle and sent me a letter stating that they sold my vehicle and that I had a deficiency balance of $361.96 that I was liable for but when I look at my credit report online, it says I owe $3,174 which is incorrect.Business Response

Thank you for giving us a chance to respond to this complaint. After reviewing the file, Bay Country Finance discovered that a post-sale letter was sent incorrectly. I am rejecting this response because: The first letter clearly stated what I owed and on the updated letter that was attached in response isnt even close to the balance owed in the first letter which shows that was not in error. It wasnt missing a number its a completely different amount.

As stated in previous response. the letter was sent out in error. We provided an updated letter with the corrected amount along with the payment history. Ms. ******* was provided a copy of her contract at the time of the loan showing her amount financed of $7575.65. Ms. ******* made three payments and then the vehicle was repossessed and sold at auction for $4400 - 270 in fees for the auction. so the $4130 was applied to her account as a principal payment. Leaving her a remaining principal balance of $3174.31. We apologies for the error in the letter that was sent but we have all the loan documents and auction check providing that the statement of $3174.31 is correct.Customer Answer

I took out a $1500 loan with Bay Country in 2019. In 2020 I took an additional $700. I recently submitted a complaint about Bay Country's predatory lending practices and received a response from ****** ***********. Someone that I have personally spoken with on numerous occasions. Since I am unable to respond to what she wrote I will submit again, as Bay Country will not bully me into being quiet about the lies, deceit, and predatory lending practices that they have put on many people. If you look at the reviews for Bay Country on BBB or other review sites. All the customers have the same story. No customer is benefiting from lying on Bay ********************. Bay ******************** however, benefits greatly for taken advantage of their customers by making hundred of thousands off of them if not more. So anyone reading this. Take this as a warning to stay AWAY! I have lost my car. I have lost my job. And will mostly soon lose my home. Its not worth it. In Autumns response(attahced) she states that at the end of my loan I would have paid $4121.81. Since 2019 I have paid over $5000 and they state that I still owe over $3000. In her response, she is stating that my loan did not finalize at $4121.82 because I was slow to pay, late fees, interest and *** fees. My Car was repo'd for $460, two month worth of payments. I have paid them more than what she states my loan would have finalized as and they took my car that resulted in my losing my job for $460! In order to get my car back, Bay Country states that I need to pay them $914 which includes all the arrears and bogus fees that tack on. Fees that include cert letters from 2021 and 2022. Letters that they state I get billed for but wont know they billed they until the end of the loan or if the car was repo'd. Let this give you more of a idea of how they hide fees and deceive. The tow company they use wants $545 +35 a day. Which totals to so far $810. so in total it will cost me $1,724 to get my car back. Please send attached docs for continueInitial Complaint

in 2019 I borrowed $1500 from Bay Country through a Title Loan. In 2020 I borrowed another $750. Totaling $2200. As of February 2023 I have paid Bay Country $5000 and they say I still owe over $3000. On February 7, 2023 Bay Country repossessed my vehicle for a non-payment of two payment totaling $459. Bay Country is a predatory title loan lender. They add ********************* to my loan to up the repayment price that they now deny what required. Upon contacting them today February 7th to get information on how to get my car back they stated it would be $689. When I asked what the break down in fees where that stated late payments in repression fee. When I asked What the break down was the representative became very agitated as if I was annoying him. He advised me that it included a $130 repossession fee, 2 late payments, $50 returned check fee, and a $75 fee of "other". I asked what the other fee was and he stated "the amount due isn't going to change",. Which is strange because I understand why me asking how much I need to pay is such an agitation to him. It also proves the lack of transparency that they have. I asked to speak to a manger, asked her the same questions, She advised the repossession fee was $140. $75 fee was for certified letters send on12/15/2022, 8/15/2022, 12/15/2021, returned check fee and late payments totaling $459. I asked why am I still paying for letters sent in 2021 and Aug 2022 and she stated that I didnt pay them. It is important to note that they NEVER disclosed that I owed them. I got a copy of my ledger in September 2022 and no "Certified letter fees" were listed. I ask and she stated they arent listed. I ask, so how would someone know they owe them she said you would pay them at the end of the loan or if the car gets repossession. How can you bill someone and not tell them you billed them and that they owe it until something happens. it speaks to the lack of transparency and predatory practices at Bay Country Finance.Business Response
