In February 2023 the office informed me that I have a credit of $160. Since I was soon to move out of the state, I asked for a refund. I have called numerous times and they always respond with "it takes time for a refund. " I have been waiting for 10 months for them to refund my money. Please help me get back the money that is due to me. Thank you.Customer Answer

I went to the dentist at Tidewater Dental in Dunkirk, Maryland on 03/24/23 for a couple of fillings. They make you pay in advance prior to the insurance company paying out based on an ESTIMATE of what they believe the charges will be. They charged me $137.40. i asked what would happen if it was over paid as it was an estimate. They said a check would immediately be cut and sent to me for any over payment. My insurance paid out and said I only owed $54.00. I was owed a refund of $83.40. Two months went by with no refund check. I called and asked where it was. They said they don't refund the money they hold onto it in case you have charges later down the line. I said that is fraud and you cannot do that especially if you have not informed me of it. She stated she would reach out to the corporate office and put in for a refund. This was in early May. I still do not have my refund. I reached out several times asking about my refund. I took my kids in for their appointments on 6/1/23 and AGAIN asked about the refund that was requested several weeks prior. I was told they had to contact the corporate office to get the update. I called today, 6/5/23, about the refund and was told that they would hold the refund until my kids claims from 6/1/23 cleared. I again told them this is fraud and they cannot do that. They told me that it is up to corporate and there is no way to contact corporate. They are committing insurance fraud as they have billed my insurance and me the same amount that both of us paid. You cannot get a manager or anyone on the phone except the front office staff who is incompetent.Initial Complaint

I recently received a bill from Tidewater Dental of Charlotte Hall, MD. I decided to pay the bill in installments, which is the way the bill was set up. Initially, I thought there might have been some type of confusion about my billing, because I got dental work done at the Prince Frederick location of Tidewater Dental, as opposed to the Charlotte Hall location. I've asked staff that work at the Charlotte Hall location why I've been getting bills from them, but I haven't been able to get an answer! I had dental work done at the Prince Frederick branch of Tidewater Dental back in Sept. and Oct. 2022, and I kept my receipts. Recently, I checked with Tidewater Dental of Prince Frederick, and they let me know that I'm all paid up. Also, I checked my bank statement, and it shows that I'm being charged a recurring $83.33 monthly from Tidewater Dental of Charlotte Hall. I've paid in the neighborhood of $700.00, to Tidewater Dental of Charlotte Hall, which I shouldn't have needed to do in the first place. Finally, enclosed are copies of my bank information, as well as receipts.Initial Complaint

On December 29, 2020, I was given an estimate by Tidewater Dental for laser gum surgery. The estimate showed that most of the cost ($4340) would be paid by me, out-of-pocket, but that my insurance would cover $2132. I also agreed to pay for N20 out-of-pocket, which was an additional $222, so in total I paid $4562.I agreed, and had the procedures in January and February of 2021. I received bills from Tidewater for several thousand dollars. I contacted them on May 21, 2021 and was told that they were still working with the insurance companies and I should wait to pay the bills until this was resolved. More than 18 months after receiving the treatment, I got a bill from Tidewater for $670. I contacted them on July 11, 2022 and was told that I actually had to pay $774 because the insurance company had overpaid and would be taking back $104. I disputed this with Tidewater because, although I understand that their original estimate could be off somewhat, I thought that this $774 was an excessive amount to ask me to pay 18 months after the procedure, when I had already paid more that $4500 for the procedure. I asked to speak to the practice owner, Dr. C***********, whom I had been seeing for over 25 years, but he refused to speak to me. They also refused to see me for my regular dental visit on Jun 30, 2022.Tidewater did agree to subtract $169.20 for a charge that I did not agree to, but I am now being asked to pay over $500 for this procedure almost 2 years ago. I believe that I should not be responsible for this amount because their estimate was so far off. If they had given me a more accurate estimate, I may have decided not to have the procedure.Initial Complaint

I was a patient at Tidewater Dental in Lexington Park, MD a few year back and ran into the exact same problem I'm having now. We were able to resolve the issue in due time but I never returned to that location. So, I started received dental care at the Solomon's Islands location. I had been going there for awhile so I requested the free Invisalign consultation. At my consultation I was informed that there was a more cost effective way to achieve what I wanted and my insurance would cover part of the cost. I said, Okay do a pre-authorization with my insurance company (I learned this from my Lexington Park experience) and let me know what my cost would be. I had a cleaning appointment so we discussed it at that time. They print out that my cost would be 640$ and the total cost was 1650$. I agreed and applied for a **** ****** account and scheduled the next step. Due to some type of conflicts my next appointment was moved to Lusby shopping center. I followed up there and was given the same cost information but that location was backlogged due to a fire and COVID so I was sent to the Prince Frederick to start the process. I paid 640$ upfront (**** ******) and started the dental work. All was good. I even brought the staff treats . I had a follow up appointment for a deep cleaning but due to my Mom became very ill with COVID, 28 day in hospital and a 2% chance of survival she is her but still dealing with long term issues. I travel back and forward to La to help take care of her. I spoke to several young ladies and the last one I informed that I would call to reschedule when I was back in town, I did just that but at that point they said I had to pay 50$ to be seen. 2/3 Months later I receive a bill for 980.90$ in the mail. I called my insurance company, they said no pre authorization was requested and that any dentist office should know that this is consider cosmetic. Tidewater billing department is giving me the run around. I am already paying Care Credit Card 640$.
