Member of NASA FCU since 2019. They gave me a $10k signature loan. Fully paid before term date. Financed a used vehicle with good interest rates. This loan, was paid off before term date. I moved from ********* to ******** in 2024. I would then be close to a NASA FCU. I visited the ********* branch. We had a substantial amount of business to conduct. My wife and I were treated like immigrants being processed at a border. They never offered us a sit-down in the office. We had a checking and savings account. Our ********************** card was paid off. We parked some money in a CD. The *** wanted to charge us $5 per check, for checks to be drawn against our checking account. Absent compelling reasons, **** does not ask customers if they need any checks. Terrible visit. 1st, we were tired from the move. 2nd that branch does not get many or any African American customers, just by their demeanor and **** posture. One month later, I contacted customer service. My experience with two customer service ***resentatives went well. I thought that ****************************************************************************************** needed to be done. I requested checks. It never happened. Maybe two months later. I had purchased a whole home generator. It was a major purchase, i.e., gas line installation, electrician, permits, and the unit. Over $10K. A follow-up call was made to NASA FCU. I inquired about needing my checks. The work was completed. The contractor only tooks checks. The only checks I had were "consolidate debt & save checks," advertised a low 7.9%. I used it. Low n behold, **** ***resentative phoned me and informed, the check that I used, is a "cash advance." You only have a $6,000 line of credit. We have to increase your credit to $10,000 for the check to be honored. 1 month later, that transaction cost me $357. They claim they could not withdraw money already in my account to process transaction. They just hustled me. After 3 requests, 9 months later, my checks arrived!

For credit card, the website clearly states: see if you pre qualify, after short application, does NOT state what is next step all about and asking which credit cards like to consolidate giving a choice of current open cards. after choosing, no warning signs no status, or options just PULLS Hard inquiry CREDIT. This is wrong, this is NOT how pre approval works!

I applied for a savings account and was rejected almost instantly. The adverse action letter sent to me stated that they were unable to verify my identity. Did they attempt to contact me to get more information? No. Ok, so I applied again a few weeks later and made sure to upload all documents that were requested. I also unlocked my credit file as that may have been an issue the first time (I keep my credit locked). I've never heard of a bank doing a hard inquiry on someone's credit to open a saving account. I've now been waiting almost 2 weeks with no response. Meanwhile, my credit file is unlocked and my identity is open to being stolen. It's a good thing I use Lifelock, huh? After reading the reviews and complaints here I'm going to refuse to bank with them if they ever get back to me with an approval. I'm also going to recommend to my fellow employees at ******, to avoid joining this bank and to come here to read the reviews and complaints. If it takes this long to get approved for a savings account, how long does it take to get an auto loan or a mortgage? I'm a diamond member with *************** anyway and have banked with them since 2005. No other bank has ever beaten their rates on loans for me. In the near future when I'm cashing in my millions of dollars in ****** stock it will not be going to **** credit union.

This is the worse credit union ever to deal with. Mr. ******** of the Bowie branch is so ignorant you want to charge a high price (over price for a stamp duty) that is over somebody paycheck and not listen. Instead of firing an employee for snooping in my account you move them to another branch and still has access to seeing my account. Next step is start climbing change of command until this is resolved.

A few months ago, I signed up for NASA Federal Credit Union's "Premiere eChecking" account which said no monthly fee is charged if you make 3 BillPay payments. So I have been making 3 or more BillPay payments to my credit cards diligently every month. But I noticed that NASA FCU did charge me the $7 the monthly fee the last couple of months of September and October. I tried to dispute this through secure messaging, multiple times, but they just wouldn't acknowledge that they're outright dishonoring what they publicized on their website "No monthly maintenance fee - With direct deposit or BillPay+ and eStatements". The original account description page has vanished mysteriously but it's still recorded on the Wayback Machine site. I always keep screenshots for my records. They employ a very sneaky way to take money from their customers knowing some customers just won't monitor account activities carefully.

Do not create an account with **********************. After opening a ePremier Checking account with 3 months of direct deposit and 15 purchases, they said the account do not qualify for $300 bonus because the purchases were Amazon GC. The banking transaction from their website clearly says those transactions were purchases as required by the bonus agreement. I will also file a BBB complaint on them.

Trying to open an account at NASA FCU is a frustrating experience. My husband was a member and had a savings account. It was not our main bank so I was not a joint account holder. Unfortunately he passed away so I was told to go in person to a branch to provide documentation and my drivers license to close his account. NFCU then sent a letter requesting written instructions to close and disperse his funds. I wanted to open a savings account in his memory to transfer his funds. So on 11/19/23, I applied for membership online and uploaded my drivers license. I received an email requesting an ID but I uploaded my drivers license with the application. I was told "I do not need to upload anything further at this time, the messages are automated and may be discarded." Normal processing time is within 2 days. After almost a week, I received another email reminding me for an ID which I already uploaded. Then I received an email that my application was denied. I was told they were unable to authenticate the information provided. I could appeal the decision but had to go in person to a branch and bring the following documents.
*Letter of explanation detailing the reason for the reconsideration
*Proof of current residence (fixed utility bill, lease agreement, mortgage statement, etc.)
*Physical driver’s license or state identification card
*Completion of a Decision Logic request prior to your arrival (the link will be sent in a subsequent follow-up message)
*Any additional documentation supporting your appeal
*Authorization to hard pull your credit if the application is over 30 days old
I received a follow-up letter that the decision was based on my credit report which has a score of 846 out of 850. It stated the key factors that adversely affected my credit score (which is almost perfect) was too many inquiries and accounts recently opened.
I will not waste time appealing since their process is laughable.

This is the absolute WORST company to work with. Terrible and rude customer service who is not willing to work with you. I always get hung up on the first time I call in, and then just keep getting transferred multiple times before I get to the yet another rep who is rude and unwilling to do anything to try and resolve your issues. Will NEVER use this company again, cannot wait to be done with this car loan.

NASA Federal Credit Union is a nightmare bank. I decided to withdraw all my funds via ACH. The first was rejected because NASA attempted to withdraw it from the wrong account. A supervisor suggested I consolidate the funds into my NASA savings account so there would be only one account. I sent a secure email explaining that AFTER my account balance is zero, to proceed with closing my account. My 2nd ACH was also rejected. This time the reason given by the destination bank was "account closed".

NASA closed my account PRIOR to my account showing a zero balance, contrary to my clear written directions.

I spoke with two supervisors who acknowledged bank error for closing my account prematurely. Meanwhile NASA sent out a check which I have yet to receive for the balance. I asked NASA to stop payment and wire the funds instead. NASA told me that stopping a check is a 30 day process so I'd be worse off. 30 days? What kind of bank is this?

Meanwhile, the destination bank that had the two ACH rejections lowered my transfer limit dramatically so it is practically useless. In order to restore the transfer limit, the destination bank required proof that NASA was to blame for the ACH screw-ups.

This morning, despite two supervisors already verbally admitting that NASA was to blame for closing my account prematurely, this NASA supervisor would not put in writing that NASA was at fault. She instead escalated it to a "regional manager". Finally, that regional manager, Chanelle Williams, prepared an email with the supervisor that did NOT explicitly admit fault. Instead the email used the phrase "due to a miscommunication". This implies shared blame. There was no miscommunication. NASA did not follow a clearly written email directive to close my account only AFTER my account was at zero balance.

NASA's incompetence is one thing. But the lack of integrity is an even more glaring red flag.

Horrible, don't do it! Their phone lines hardly ever work and when someone does finally answer after hours of on hold, they place you on hold for transfer only to hang up on you all over again. They date their correspondence 30 days previous, and you receive your correspondence one day before their claimed event. In my case, a $14 letter of charge off against my credit. I do not recommend this credit union at all. Not one bit. What a horrible name for the Space company that everyone so trust. They have very nasty, unethical way of doing business.
