      For customers who are not enrolled in electronic billing, CMP mails a final bill to the mailing address on file at the time an account closes. The final bill includes the balance from their prior bill, any payments received since the prior bill, details of new charges for usage through the date the account closed, and a due date ~25 days after the bill generated.  Some customers may also see additional information, like a credit for deposits previously paid.

      If the full balance is not paid by the due date, CMP mails a letter and calls the customer as a courtesy to remind them of the balance due. If the full balance remains unpaid, CMP forwards the balance to a collection agency.  CMP does not report balances to credit bureaus; however, the collection agency may. 

      When a customer sends a payment to the collection agency, it is forwarded to CMP and applied to the customer's account. Collection activity ceases after a balance is paid in full. 

      CMP guarantees the amount billed is accurate and delivered on time. If there is ever a mistake, we will, of course, correct it.  We will also provide customers with an additional credit to apologize for the error. 

      Upon review of this customer's account, we confirmed that the bill is accurate and all processes were completed correctly. The customer confirmed that they received the bill in a recorded phone conversation 9 days after the final bill generated. As of today, CMP has not received payment for the full balance due.  

      CMP cannot speak to conversations between the collection agency and the customer. We encourage the customer to contact the credit agency for further information about what they reported to the the credit bureau(s).

      Worst electric company ever!! If your thinking of moving to Maine, don't!! Unless you want some of the highest electrical rates on the east coast. My electric bill went from ****** to ****** in less than 2 weeks.

      CMP was unable to locate an active account using this reviewer's name or email address.  We sent an email to the reviewer to offer assistance. There are several ways customers can lower monthly amounts due, like decreasing usage, choosing a different supply company, or changing to a different delivery rate.  CMP encourages the reviewer, and any customer who has questions about their bill to visit our website at www.cmpco.com/understand-your-bill1, or call our *********************** at **************, available weekdays, from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm.

      Worst utility company !!! Owned by a Spanish company- there should be law against foreign ownership of ** utilities.Lost power 2 days ago (4/4)and just got notified that power should resume on 4/9. Unreliable power ** that does not put $$ into its infrastructure. Instead ,it sends $$ back to Iberdrola in *****.Why isn't CMP under US ownership ???

      Their billing app made an error, and because of this I have to pay by cash for the next year. What a waste of my time. This is what happens when you allow a full monopoly.

      CMP is mindful of its obligation to reduce costs which are incorporated into rates for all customers; therefore, has policies which will reduce such costs and unpaid balances. Per CMP policy, a residential customer who has two returned payments in a 12 month period may not pay by ACH.  In the past 12 months, two payments were returned from this customer's bank due to insufficient funds. The oldest of this customer's returned payments was 8 months prior to their complaint with the BBB. This customer can resume making ACH payments in July, 2024.

      I dont have much time rn but I would rate them zero stars if I could. Terrible support. Nobody wants to do their job and would rather hang out in parking lots with 10+ power trucks and socialize with each other. This outage has been insane and CMP needs repercussions, its been too long of such terrible service. And that is why your reviews are worse than ****** Paytass.

      Horrible customer service, extremely outrageous bills, and constant power outages. For a 1,200sq ft house that uses propane as the primary source of heat, and has a propane cookstove, there is absolutely no reason or explanation for having our electric bills be over $400 per month. In the past year, our electric has gone out more than 26 times for at least a few hours, some times for several days, nearly all for unexplained reasons. We submitted a ticket last winter for a large branch sitting on our lines every time there was heavy snow -- they didn't send anyone to investigate until mid-December of this year (more than 8 months after the fact) to come take care of the tree causing issues. After that tree was dealt with, another crew showed up when no one was home, and took down a dead tree that was near the lines, but was technically not within their limit to require felling, and in the process of dropping the tree, they drove over all my landscaping, destroying my lilac and rose bushes. Their disregard for common courtesy is simply astonishing and their ability to do their job is non-existent. How they are able to achieve an 'A+' rating on BBB is beyond comprehension. If giving zero stars was an option, I'd choose that. CMP has got to go.

      They lie that prices power bills outrageous has no need of power of being over $300 at my residence when I don't use that much. Power takes forever to get power reconnected at power outages. I'm going on 4 days now with no power. No heat, no nothing and it's no need of it when they get cruise from all over the country and ****** to come in system for the storm

      During a time when our electricity bills are sky high and we are doing everything we can to make our payments I received a call today that I had sent my payment to CMP but not to the correct payment address I was told she would forward it onto the correct people but in the future I should be more careful and send it to the proper addres. When I told her that I had actually asked ***** what the address was and I apologized she said " well she lied to you and I will not be sending it forward again the future if you do this again." "You need to o he more careful. " And I just told her I absolutely understood and apologized again. While they continue to charge outrageous fees where you either pay them or you get to eat..for me to be treated so rudely and condescendingly was really hurtful. People make errors, I am human...you received my money...you even received it early, how about being just a ******************* ? Truly unbelievable.

      CMP really should be shut down and find a new company thats decent priced has somewhat human people to talk to that can actually help. Worst company I have ever had to deal with. Way over priced and slowest/rudest people working for them. I 100% would NEVER recommend them. I hate CMP with a passion. Id like to flip a switch and them be gone!
