I had my 2015 ****** Forester at *************** on 12/23/2022. At this time they did a State inspection and gave me a sticker stating I would need new front brake pads before getting a new sticker next year. Last year in September of 2021 I had new back brake pads installed at Maine Auto Service in ******* with no issues so decided to go back for the front brake pads. I made an appointment stating i wanted new front brake pads and an all wheel alignment. I brought my car and left it stating if any other work such as rotors were needed to be done please contact me. I received a call from ***(service manager) stating my front brake pads were fine but my left rear caliper pad was locked up in the bracket causing it to overheat and damage the rotor. He said I needed 2 new rear rotors and new pads which were covered under warranty and total would be $500 approximately. I just had my car inspected 10 days ago and was not told this was an issue, just to change front pads within the year. How is this even possible that this was not seen by ************** 10 days earlier when they gave me a new inspection sticker? Maine Auto service in ******* is dishonest and trying to make money off of people with little knowledge regarding car repairs. Oh and an fyi.there were no other cars there just mine. Thought they had a sucker. I had them do the work but truly believe it wasnt necessary they found something wrong to get more money out of me!!! BEWARE OF THIS BUSINESS!!! HIGHLY NOT RECOMMENDED!!!

We regret that **************** believes that we were dishonest. That was not the case. We completed a full inspection of the brake system on his vehicle, and we identified a problem with the rear brake pads. We brought him out to the vehicle, and we showed him exactly what was going on. It is certainly possible that this issue would not have been identified in the course of doing a Maine State Inspection, as the wheels are not removed as part of that process. Therefore, ************** may not have discovered it. We gave **************** the option of putting everything back together at NO CHARGE, or of doing the required repairs. He stated that he had worked as a mechanic, and that he understood the problem. After reviewing the situation with us in person, at the vehicle, **************** AGREED that the work was necessary, and HE ASKED US TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS. At Maine Auto Service, we follow national industry standards for diagnosis and service, and we stand by the work we did with some of the best warranties in the business. Again, we regret that **************** is so dissatisfied. However, the work we did was required to restore the brake system to its proper operation, it was completed at teh customer's request, and it was performed correctly.
