I didnt have my EBT on me, but I know the numbers, so I check at a cashier to see if I can use it, and it works, so I go around the store getting food to feed myself and my spouse, only to get to the cashier and be declined, horrible store experience

I recently went to Hannaford near ****** ** with my daughter. After the cashier rang up the order your system prevented her from using WIC, Food Stamps, gift cards debit card, and clipped coupons saying that the $500 plus order did not qualify to use coupons with WIC or with Food Stamps. Help me to understand why someone on a tight budget is prevented from using various payment methods at Hannaford for an order over $500. Not only was this extremely embarassing, but it was inappropriate. It should not matter to Hannaford the method of payment and Hannaford should not prevent someone from using their reward points or coupons because they use public assistance. I would like to know why this happened. This is not the first time this gas happened by their cash register. Help me understand Hannaford's exclusionary policy on coupon usage for poor customers.

I was making a purchase and discovered that the frozen dinner Item I was buying was being taxed. I knew that it should not be taxed so I told a staff member who told me all food had tax. I explained that only certain foods are taxed and not all and I then asked them to ask a member of management. The staff member went to another person and he told me that the item was considered a prepared food so it was taxed. I was being taxed 8% which is the State tax for prepared foods like pizza or pre-made sandwiches. Knowing that this was not correct I chose not to purchase the item. I then contacted the ***** special tax division to confirm that I was correct. I gave them the information for the store and they did not seem very concerned. I then contacted Hannaford and spoke with a Manager. The Manager informed me that they discovered several items that were being taxed that should not have been. They said it was not something they could correct at store level and were trying to get it corrected. I have to wonder if every Hannaford has been doing this in ***** and just how much money the consumers have lost over time.

The produce section of this Hannafords is deplorable. The foods look like theyre thrown into the displays. The broccoli today was rotten - every single head. The lemons were rotting. The asparagus was old. The grapes were filthy. Nothing looks fresh or well cared for. Also, the attitude of the produce section employees is laziness and carelessness. This store is the worst Hannafords weve ever shopped at. Its our local store but well start going elsewhere.

Awful. Their online coupons frequently dont work and they dont say anything (hoping you dont notice). ********* standard answer to anything is offering a coupon off a future visit. Why should you be rewarded for your mistakes?

Long time customer no more. Inefficiencies at ************ Hannaford make it impossible for me to shop in this store ever again. I write this review with a sense of sadness. Ive shopped at Hannaford for many years and used to rate the store head and shoulders above the rest. The customer service used to be top notch. Let me be clear - used to be is the operative meaning here. I understand that the store is currently under renovation and with that some minor inconveniences should be expected. But, Management101 should dictate that you dont have just one register open during peak hours to handle express and full cart orders, lottery transactions and money orders. It should be noted that the customer service desk was done away with long before the store renovations started. Whose bright idea was this? It defies simple, common sense. I tried to purchase a money order tonight and was unable to. The clerk said that the machine was out of paper and none of the employees in the store were allowed to change it. She asked me to step aside and they would try to call someone to see what they should do. I told her not to bother as I would go to either Price Chopper or the postal office in the morning. Unbelievable. This type of inefficiency has nothing to do with a store renovation. This is a management issue. I hear that neighboring stores like Saratoga and ************ are operating in similar fashion: long lines, one register open for all transactions including people running their lottery numbers. Time for Hannaford HQ to re-examine their business model. Its broken and clearly needs to be fixed. Im sure other people like myself are frustrated with similar experiences. This might explain why I observed long-time Hannaford cashiers shopping in Price Chopper recently. I thought it odd at the time. Now, its ******* clear.
