We too, called to cancel with Island Trader Vacations, which we had signed up in 2013, a month or so after signing. We were told that if we didn't use the service, we didn't need to do anything else. Now 9 years later a letter came today stating we owed dues amounting to $1900. We ask for them to send all paper work, including our communication about cancelling in 2013, and they said they didn't have to do it. We ask then if they would release it to our attorney and they said no. We talked to a supervisor who said the same thing, at first, then said they would mail us requested documentation, and a cancellation directions on setting the account. We never use their services at all. I was required to leave a star rating, it should be no stars at all.Island Trader Vacations

These members paid their annual renewals on 11/11/2014 when the Mrs called in with their credit card information. These members placed a request and book travel through our agents at ************* on 1/19/2015 traveling on 1/22/15 so to state they told us they were not using services or did not need anything further is simply untrue as pointed out with the facts. These members never previously requested to cancel my phone email, or mail. On 6/8/2018 these members stated they had major surgeries and we home bound for the time being but again never requested to close/cancel and were told they would have to pay their fees up to current at time of next renewal just as the contract states in which they signed stating they had read, understood, and agreed to those terms. There was no request from these members to cancel in 2013 by the facts stated above and there was no such request to release anything to their (attorney) We always send a copy of their contract paperwork upon the members request. This statement is clearly untrue made by the members with the fact that they renewal by contacting us in ************************************** 2015. You cannot play follow the leader on other false complaints made especially when it will in no way line up with the fact of payment and use of this membership account. These members need to contact our office to reach a fair settlement agreement to either bring their account up to date or close it out through a Mutual Release!G. M.

Once again, this company shows no ethics in response to request for documentation of what they said in their response. On every contact with said company, request was made to cancel and documentation be sent, as of this date nothing has been received. Even after they said they would provide all documentations from day one, so it could be handed to our attorney for further actions. Since the State of ****** has a Fraud Unit, under the ************************ We will provide the actual Documentation we have in our possession, and the Court Findings of other States, in cases in like, pertaining to this company and their practices, of bait and switch, threats and unethical business practices. I'm sure class action suits will be filled by the State, as there has in other states where they have promoted this travel scam.Review fromPam S

We like the other comments have tried to cancel our overpriced, underserved account with Island Traders ************** The office personnel are rude and should not deal with customers. They continue to bill os yearly which I explained we absolutely will not pay since 2018. They are very much a scam and I hope no ************* with them ever again in the future!Island Trader Vacations

These members (like others) have used the services, received discounted pricing up front, and cash back bonuses on their bookings. They signed agreeing to the terms and conditions of the membership contract paperwork stating they read, understood, and agreed to those terms which included the yearly fees each and every year and if not paid in a year or years those unpaid fees would accrue as the contract agreement states those fees have to be brought current. These members NEVER previously requested to cancel by phone, email, or mail,. These members by their own statement above knew full well they had an open unpaid accruing membership account and did not respond to the ********, rebilling, letters of the past due accruing balances, and a letter of Audit all by mail. We also as a courtesy contacted them by phone and email offering (then) current incentives to help them bring their account up to date but they again failed to respond to those efforts on our part as well. Turning your back on a debt will not simply make it go away. We fully collect on all unpaid accruing fees so these members like others simply need to contact our office and either make a fair settlement agreement to bring their membership account up to date or close it out through a Mutual Release document to close/cancel having no further cost our obligations!Pam S

This is appears to be a scam. We signed up in 2013. We ended up canceling verbally a couple of years later. Nothing was said about a release form and nothing was sent to us at that time to formalize the cancellation. They are now asking $498 to cancel. This is a 50% reduction from what they say we owe them. They sent us a copy of our original application agreement which states they would send us a notification 30 days in advance of charging our credit card for the annual membership fee. We have gotten no correspondence from them for the past 5 years until this year. Our original charge card was cancelled by us years ago. If they had tried to charge that account, they did not make an attempt at that time to contact us about making the annual membership payment. The agreement also said they would also suspend all travel services if our account became delinquent. If that were the case, what services are they charging us for since the time of suspension. The agreement also does not state any means or requirements for cancelling. Looks to me like fishing for moneyIsland Trader Vacations

These members had booked then traveled past their 9/11/15 renewal date. These members simply need to contact our office and reach a fair settlement agreement to either bring their membership account up to date or close it out through a Mutual Release document having no further cost or obligations. These members had not requested to cancel before their 2015 renewals came due.Dale H
Date: 09/14/2022
Sorry, but don't agree, We may have traveled after 9/11/2015, but the travel arrangements would have been made prior to that date. Consider our contract in permanent suspension or any other state you want to put it.Dale H
Date: 09/14/2022
Actually now that I think about this. It does not make sense. If the yearly fee was due on 9/11/2015 it would have either been paid by automatic deduction from our credit card or if it was not paid, our travel services would have been suspended. If our travel services were suspended according to our membership application (Item #8 in the agreement), then Island Traders would not have made any travel arrangements for us for travel after 9/11/2015. What is your explanation for this fact?Review fromLinda A

Our story is like many others. We purchased in 2014, tried to book something a few months later and wasn't successful. We cancelled and never received another bill, so I thought I was successful. I received a letter a couple of weeks ago, saying they have billed us 3 times per year and mailed the notices and also called multiple times. That is a complete lie, we haven't gotten anything in the mail or any phone calls from them until a couple of weeks ago. I called and told them I had cancelled and I was told I didn't submit the right form. I think we paid them $2500 and received nothing for our money! I wish there was a zero star option, they don't deserve the one star.Island Trader Vacations

These members booked three different hotels in 2014. They received discounts up front and also receive a cash back bonus check number ***** for all three bookings. We have never stop billing, rebilling, sending letters of past due accruing balance, and a Audit letter all by mail. We did call and email them over the years offering (then) current incentives to help these members bring their account to date but we received responses like: Mrs. was on a conference call. I made calls myself explaining to her the benefits and use and they were going to be calling back to renew but never done so. These members purchased from an Independent sales/marketing office and paid whatever purchase monies to that distributor not us but as the membership contract paperwork states these members agreed to pay the yearly fees to us the fulfillment company/travel provider. These members need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or close it out through a fair settlement agreement.Review fromB&L

Many of us here got scam by Island Trader Vacations. We cancelled our membership back in 2014 after a few month we signed up. We got their letter couple of days ago saying we owed past due for 2021. We called, talked to a lady that said that I did not cancel correctly with a form that was noted in the contract so my fees are still due. What kind of company is this, if my contract is not cancelled why didnt Island Trader Vacations send any due statement in 2015? 2016? 2017? 2018? 2019? 2020? 2021? What a scam, we all here should take action against this company.Island Trader Vacations

The ****'s were still booking and traveling in late December of 2014 through our ************** When we spoke to Mr. **** in 2015 he stated he would be calling back to renew. Then when we spoke to him in 2016 and explained that the dues are due each year and if unpaid they would have to pay them up to current at next renewal. The ****'s never requested to cancel by phone, email, or mail. We have billed, rebilled, sent letter of past dues accruing balances, and an Audit letter. all by mail. We as a courtesy have called and emailed the ****'s but they simply failed to respond. These members need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or close/cancel their membership account through a Mutual Release document to properly close their membership account having no further cost or obligations. Again these members like all others were billed and rebilled at least three times or more each year and all our mail goes out with (address service requested) and there is no return mail noted to this membership account. The day all members purchase they signed agreeing to the terms and condition listed within and the payment date is clearly listed for each year on the signed forms. Acknowledgement of this yearly payment by the members is understood and accepted when they sign the membership application at time of purchase.B&L

Island trader vacations are scamming consumers, I called to cancel in 2014. You said we still book and travel in late December 2014? Send me a proof of details, we dont travel during holiday seasons coz my wife works in retail outlet that retailer will definitely dont allow any employee to take vacations during holiday seasons. I did not receive island trader vacations calls in 2015 and 2016. And did not receive any ******** from island trader vacations. Your business license should be suspended, the way you want to scams consumers.Review frommargie p

Playing follow the leader and copying others complaints which are not factual does not and will not resolve the open unpaid debt for an agreement signed, stating you had read, understood, and agreed to the terms within. Then simply turning you back on that debt falsely claiming the same misstatements apply to you is painting yourself with the same brush again not resolving the open unpaid accruing balance will be dealt with on a case by case basis! Contact our office to resolve the debt. We are here to help each member based on their membership history but will not and do not tolerate any kind of verbal abuse for a debt owed and not resolved!Review fromBarb B

My situation is very similar to many others in the BBB site., Interestingly, we ************* with Island Trader Vacations about the same time, 2013-2014, and all thought they had resolved or cancelled or inactivated their accounts within a year or 2 of signing on. Then, unexpectedly, we each got a letter in June or July of 2022 saying that we owed past due fees, and offering to "settle" our accounts by paying more money. At first, I thought it was just my problem, but now I know there are many of us. Thank you everyone for contacting the BBB! I do not intend to pay any more money, and will follow the advice to contact my state Attorney General.Island Trader Vacations

This is a HUGE SCAM. We have been fighting with them for years regarding a cancelled membership and they continue to harass us. We were NEVER - I mean NEVER able to get a single benefit from this scam. How are they allowed to still be in business?????Island Trader Vacations

The *********** have used the services and had never previously requested to cancel. They continued to pay their annual renewals on 8/18/14 then again they paid 10/13/15. These members purchased from an independent sales/market company and they purchased the (Island Trader Vacations travel membership package) and had complained to us that the distributor never got their timeshare deal taken care of but that would have been a direct issue where they purchased having nothing at all to do with us the fulfillment company/travel provider for the membership packaged purchased. We as simply the travel provider would have no knowledge of a timeshare deal these members made with that distributor until the members told us of that issue and I replied to them the following email: *****, thank you for responding and I have noted your email to the membership file. Please understand we are simply the third party (travel provider) for what you purchased. You purchased nothing from us. Your purchased from an ************************ and they were Infinite Discount Living and the only contact information I have for them is 714-XXX-XXXX. They no longer sell the rights to use our services (memberships). I do see where you had placed request with our travel department and booked travel. I will at anytime go over the membership benefits with you and help you see the advantage in using your Island Trader Vacations travel club membership for all your travel needs. I am in the office daily Mon. thru Fri. from 8 am to 5 pm CST. I cannot help you with any arrangement you made with the Distributor as they are a separate company and we are once again simply a travel provider. Please call when you have time to speak. Thank ******* ****** Services *These members never responded to me or the company and we continued to ****, rebill, also mailing letters of delinquency and as a courtesy we called and emailed to no avail. No one should EVER purchased a travel club membership to unload a unwanted time share as the paperwork clearly states there were no separate written or oral warranties only than what was listed and agreed to in the membership contract!Review fromJames S

This complaint is like many others that I have read. Spent $4500 on nothing but a scam. I was told four years ago that I could place my membership on what they called (inactive status) and would suspend my dues, but of course could not use the benefits. The benefits being a joke anyway. Skip forward to a couple of months ago and now am getting bills about past dues. This has been nothing but a scam from the first.Island Trader Vacations

These members purchased 5/11/13 and never paid their fees as agreed in 2014 then took advantage of a special offer to renew 7/16/15 having their 2014 dues waived. They again failed to pay their yearly renewal as agreed in 2016 and took advantage of a different offer to help them get their membership up to date on 5/31/17 having yet again another year of fees waived for 2016. **************** stated he had been ill and renewed his membership on the club site 5/9/19 skipping yet a third year of annual renewals for 2018. At no time were these members told they could put their yearly fees on (inactive status). We have worked with these members in every way possible to help them get and keep their membership in an active status so they could use the services purchased. The membership has unpaid past due yearly renewal fees for 5/9/20, 5/9/21, and now their 5/9/22 renewal fees are past due and due! It is in their own best interest to contact our office and either pay their fees up to current to use the services or reach a fair settlement agreement to close/cancel their membership account. We have been here every business day to provide the services purchase keeping our part of the contract agreement. These members have failed repeated to pay their fees each year as agreed. Again, the ******** need to contact our office and resolve this once and for all!Review fromchristine L

ABSOLUTELY a scam! We cancelled the membership a week after purchasing in 2013. We now received a collection notice for some annual fees unpaid for 9 years. $1K+ crazy !!! Letter was rude.. CSR individual even more so.Island Trader Vacations

There was no cancellation or refund from the Distributor noted in our membership file, in fact the ******* did not contact our office until 7/5/13 wanting to stop the yearly recurring electronic debit for annual renewal making them a yearly billed member by mail. These members would have had a three to five day right of recession time under state law to cancel and purchased 3/23/13 so it was months later when the first contacted us. These members were told their membership account was in an active status until 3/23/14 then their yearly renewal would be due! We have never stop billing, rebilling, and as a courtesy we called and emailed to no avail. Additionally they have been mailed notices of past dues accruing balances and to please contact our office to resolve this ongoing matter. These members simply need to contact our office to either bring their membership account up to date or close it out through a fair settlement agreement. These members never placed request, got pricing, or booked so in no fair way could they judge the services and make the slanderous claims as they have!
