TRT did a very nice job protecting our yard and cleaning up all the trees and the debris. They worked very quickly and were very safety conscious. They have fantastic equipment and they are very skilled at operating it. ***** has been an arborist for 25+ years. However, my recommendation is to get a second opinion before you make a decision....wish I had. We had two sets of co-dominant trees that they highly recommended to be cut down because they were potentially dangerous trees (could fall on the house) with a supposed carpenter ant infestation in the one pair. After the trees were cut down it turned out to there was zero evidence of rot or carpenter ants. The tree did have a big fault line where the two trees connected at the stem which was a cause for concern because it causes weakness in both trees. Dustin mentioned cabling the tree and doing plant care but it was going to be thousands of dollars with no guarantee of success (if it actually had rot which it turned out I did not). I understand that no one knows the true state of a tree till they get into the work but I am beyond sad that I cut down 60+ year old oak trees that maybe didn't need to be removed after all. So I'd definitely suggest getting a second opinion if you're not completely sure.

We understand the customer's concerns and want to offer a transparent explanation regarding the professional recommendation and subsequent removal of their mature White Oak.

      Professional Assessment

      Summary:

Upon inspection, the tree exhibited multiple high-risk characteristics:

*The tree had two codominant leads, each approximately 90feet tall, joined by a structurally compromised union with included bark (see attached photo). This formation is inherently weak and prone to failure, particularly under wind load or ice accumulation.

*A visible fault line and separation were noted between the stems-classic indicators of stress and instability.

********** ant activity was active within the trunk commonly associated with internal decay or dead wood.

*After removal, radial cracks were clearly visible at the base, confirming internal structural failure that could not have been fully diagnosed without dismantling the tree.

*The canopy showed signs of decline, consistent with stress originating either in the root zone or from internal dysfunction.

      Options presented to the customer:

We presented the customer with all available management strategies:

1.Installation of a support cable system approximately 2/3 up the canopy to reduce the likelihood of stem failure.

      2.Root Collar Excavation

(RCE) to expose the trunk flare and inspect for girdling roots or root decay. (Noticed lots of bird seed around trunk flare)

3.Deep root fertilization and a plant health care program to support the tree's declining canopy.

4.Tree removal as the definitive way to eliminate the risk posed by the compromised structure.

These options were explained in detail, including cost ranges and the fact that corrective measures carried no guarantee of long term success given the advanced defects. The customer ultimately chose removal after reviewing these facts.

      Conclusion:

We acknowledge the emotional difficulty of removing a mature tree, especially one that may appear sound externally. However, the internal cracks, visible decay symptoms, and high structural risk of 90-foot codominant stems made this tree a valid candidate for removal.

Our assessment and recommendation were based on standard arboricultural protocols and ISA TRAQ risk evaluation methods, prioritizing public safety and responsible care.

      Sincerely,

      ******

The rep that comes to your home to quote the tree work is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with, he unfortunately is not on site when the tree crew comes. I was led to believe that the tree crew was going to use appropriate means (plywood) to not destroy my aging driveway and lawn when they moved equipment into my backyard. They did not. I now have uneven cracks all over my driveway that have left sharp splinters of concrete exposed. They returned after I complained to fix a massive impression left in my neighbors yard but would not fix the one in my yard 3 feet away. The curb on the side of my driveway is now pushed into the ground 2 inches. The ground under the lawn on the side of the curb has been formed to the wheels of their equipment. I called for nearly 6 months to talk with the owner but was told he was super busy... finally was told that after reviewing images of my driveway prior to the work it was already damaged and they would not reduce the amount owed at all. I had been told to not worry about the penalties while I waited for the owner but those are also on my final bill. Tree work was good but whomever decided to not simply lay down some plywood before rolling up my driveway ruined the entire interaction! Follow up/customer service = garbage. I will discourage anyone and everyone to not hire this company.

******* and his crew did a great job! They were friendly and polite. They used extra care to keep from making big indentations in our backyard with their heavy equipment. We were pleased with their work. We will use them again when the need arises. I would recommend them based on our experience.

I had 2 Oaks fall on my house 2 weeks ago during a wind storm. A thunderstorm was predicted for the next day. ****** had a crew out that day, they removed everything and trimmed as much as they could from one of the trees that is leaning. They put boards down to protect the yard, and were very careful to not cause additional damage while removing the trees. They got my roof well tarped before night fall and this prevented a lot of additional damage as we had a real gully washer the next day. The crew was knowledgeable, and came with the right tools to get the job done safely and right. They even gave me a veterans discount!

Customer beware! I encourage others to write their reviews as well. Storm damage on 7/23, a hickory tree fell on my house. They charged me $25k to take the tree down. Insurance is willing to pay a fraction of the invoice. I called Ada Tree Service and when I saw Timber Ridge Tree Service pull up my neighbor was telling me to not use them. The owner ******, is a smooth talker and is out for price gauging. He told me that is not my invoice, it's my insurance companies. However he would not talk to my adjuster. When the invoice came, it was from Maple Valley Tree Service. When I got quotes for other hickory trees on my property---$1800. I have documented all my conversations with ****** as well as my adjuster when he tried to call the office, and they had a phone problems with the line. They only used one chain saw, and most of the time his crew were vaping. Seems somewhat dangerous..... Negative 5 stars..I had to leave a star to post.
