June 5 th they filled with courts for a garnishment of my payroll, the contact is paid off. Ive called over a dozen of times to get release of garnishment email/ fax to my employer/ Im told everyday they dont know whats going on. Im told para legal havent responded to emails/ I call daily for a status update/ and told they are sending emails. I called the court and they said they just filed this on June 5th, the day before my last payment?? Very fishy, I need my release form and no answers. Ive asked to be emailed that contract is complete/ they cant do that/ I asked for mailed copy thats cant do that either. My hands are tied/ Im a single income home and I paid my dues and now wont close it out so I can move on and support my household .

I received a letter dated March 3, 2025, regarding ****************. It gave very little information. I have emailed, tried to call, and tried to submit to their website "contact us" page on 3/10, 4/10, 4/21, 5/15, 6/6. I also sent a certified letter on 5/15. I have not had a response regarding my request for debt verification. Nobody answers the phone and nobody has called me back. I would like to know WHAT this is, the correct amount, and settlement options if it is truly my debt. I have read of other individuals being taken to court by this company with NO prior notice and I am afraid they will try to do that to me, if this debt is in fact correct.

This company, out of the blue, with no previous communication, sent a man to my home. He knocked on the door as if he knew me. He had zero identification and wore a ball cap, jeans, boots and a tee shirt. This action in and of itself is extremely frightening and should NEVER happen, especially if done out of the blue! I did an extensive internet research to see why a man would show up and knock as if he knew the resident. It was at that time, I learned this company filed a lawsuit against me. There was absolutely NO prior documentation provided, so I can only assume they went into my credit report to search for old debt. They have yet to provide me ANY, not one bit of documentation about their claim. This is a clear violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They are required to provide documentation but have not! This company also employs nasty tactics like hateful accusatory people to answer their calls. Those same people force words in people's mouths by negative legal tactics to intimidate. Furthermore, they not only send strangers to people's homes, they placed my phone number into robocalls that have been calling nonstop. When I block the number, another one pops up. This is absolute harassment and unconscionable actions to scare people. This is being done to me, even though I made every effort to obtain information on the reason they are harassing me. They just say a company name and that is it. Not when it was opened, the debt purchased, the terms, the supposed balance, or basically anything that would allow a person to research the information. The company they are accusing me of owing, I have had no dealings with in over 8-10 years, but it is now emergent such that they are harassing me. There are statutes of limitations in states for a reason, because this kind of out of the blue abuse is dangerous, especially to the well being of those who suffer from medical issues, specifically PTSD! This company needs to back off!

I am rejecting this response because this writer has received ZERO notification, written or otherwise, before a man showed up at my home.  I reside in a townhome community and have a locked mailbox.  Any supposed mailed was either NOT sent or was intercepted by another.

People should not be traumatized and harassed because of matters that are completely out of their control or knowledge.  It was incumbent on the pursuer to resend supposed documentation if they did not receive a response!  I completely dispute the information was ever sent!  It is an easy EXCUSE!

This company is sketchy and operates the same.  They can say whatever but that doesn't make it real or true.  They have STILL NOT produced one single bit of paperwork to this writer, despite MULTIPLE requests!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  What is so hard about resending the supposed paperwork?????  Why is there a delay?????

I am rejecting this response because: AS OF THIS DATE, JUNE 6, 2025, I STILL NOT RECEIVED ANY, NOT ONE IOTA, OF DOCUMENTATION. This is complete BS!  As stated previously, I receive many (18) medications, VAMC medical appointment letters, and all bills at this address.  HOWEVER, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE ONE PIECE OF DOCUMENTATION FROM THIS COMPANY, which lead me to believe this is a scam!!!!

I have written this company repeatedly asking for documentation.  Nothing has been received as of this writing!!  They have no issue sending an unknown male to my home address, yet they are unable to send mail to me.  Something is terribly wrong with this situation.

These are harassment tactics to force payments from people cannot validate the debt.

I wrote the Stenger and Stenger Compliance Officer yesterday, about this issue and, again, DID NOT receive a response.

This company is scamming me and I refuse to pay for debt that cannot be validated.  They are no in compliance with applicable laws, i.e., Fair Debt Collection Practices Act because they have not provided one piece of documentation to me about the debt that they are harassing me about.

Please feel free to contact the ***************** for this area to validate that I have received NO documentation to date!

    Sincerely,

    Complaint: 23337641

I am rejecting this response because:

    Dear Aireyana *****,
Thank you for forwarding the response from Stenger & Stenger, P.C. regarding my complaint.
I do not find the business's response satisfactory. There are several key inaccuracies and FCRA violations that must be addressed:
No Valid Debt Verification: I never received a copy of the original signed agreement or any documentation validating this alleged debt, as required under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Simply stating that they were retained by *********************** (GLS) does not constitute legal proof of a valid debt.
Lack of Original Creditor Agreement: I did not authorize or sign any contract with ************************ nor with Stenger & Stenger. Without a copy of the original agreement bearing my signature, there is no lawful basis for this account to be reported, collected, or pursued.
FCRA Compliance Failure: Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), any item that cannot be properly verified must be removed from my credit report. Since this collection cannot be validated with original documentation, and Stenger & Stenger acknowledges they are ceasing collection efforts due to jurisdiction issues, this account must be deleted entirelynot merely closed and returned to the creditor.
Continued Reporting is Harmful and Unlawful: Allowing this unverifiable and potentially fraudulent account to remain on my credit report is damaging and in violation of my rights. This collection account must be removed from all consumer reporting agencies immediately.
I demand this account be permanently deleted from all credit bureaus and that written confirmation of the deletion be provided. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will pursue further legal action and file additional complaints with the **** and state attorney general.
Please update the status of this complaint accordingly.

Stenger & Stenger, P.C. is in receipt of your BBB complaint # ******** response rejection in which you indicated you have not been provided with valid debt verification, you did not sign a contract with GLS or Stenger & Stenger, and that without a signed contract, there is no lawful basis for the account to be reported, collected,or pursued; additionally, you state that the account is being unlawfully reported on your credit report and must be removed entirely due to being unvalidated, and that the unverified reporting of the account is damaging and in violation of your rights.

This account was serviced by Stenger & Stenger from January 15, 2024, through May 19, 2025, and during this time period the firm does not have record of any correspondence from you to Stenger & Stenger, such as a prior validation request; additionally, prior to this BBB complaint, Stenger & Stenger does not have record of a prior request for account documentation, such as an original contract.Considering Stenger & Stenger is no longer servicing this account or a party to the account, the firm cannot speak on or take any actions in regard to the account on behalf of the Creditor of the account, *************************** (***), and you will need to contact *** directly for all matters concerning this account, including any requests for validation of the debt and/or account documentation.  Furthermore, Stenger & Stenger is not a credit reporting agency and thus does not report any accounts to the credit ********** previously stated, if you would like to dispute the information on your credit report or otherwise request an accounts removal, that request will need to be made to the Creditor, GLS, who can be contacted at the phone number ************. Complaint: 23337641

I am rejecting this response because: To Whom It May Concern,
Thank you for your response. However, I respectfully disagree with your position and stand by my original complaint.
First, your firms claim that there was no prior communication from me is incorrect. I have previously submitted written disputes and debt validation requests regarding this accountdirectly challenging its accuracy and legitimacy. If these communications were not received or properly processed by your office, that is a failure on your firms part, not mine.
Second, your attempt to defer responsibility to *********************** (GLS) is not sufficient. While you may no longer be servicing this account as of May 19, 2025, you were actively reporting, collecting on, and pursuing the account for over a year, during which time no proper debt validation was provided. Your firms failure to provide timely and adequate validation while the account was under your control is a violation of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).
Furthermore, while you claim Stenger & Stenger does not report to credit bureaus directly, your actions and communications contributed to the continued furnishing and collection of inaccurate and disputed information, which has damaged my creditworthiness.
    At this point, I request:
    Written confirmation that your firm has permanently closed and returned this account to GLS;
    A full record of all actions taken by your firm related to this account, including any attempted contact with me;
    Assurance that Stenger & Stenger will not further pursue or transfer this alleged debt without proper validation;
A statement to the credit bureaus clarifying your firm is no longer involved in servicing this account.
Lastly, I reserve the right to pursue further legal remedies and report this matter to the ***** FTC, and my state ************************ should this issue not be resolved fairly.

    Sincerely,

Stenger & Stenger, P.C. is in receipt of your BBB complaint # ******** response rejection in which you indicated you sent prior disputes and debt validation requests, that Stenger & Stenger actively reported, collected on, and pursed the account without providing validation, that the firm has contributed to the inaccurate and disputed credit information, and that you would like confirmation the account is closed, a record of actions taken by the firm, assurance the firm will not pursue the debt without validation, and a statement to the credit bureaus regarding Stenger no longer servicing the account.

It is ********************** & Stengers position that your complaint has been sufficiently addressed. This account was closed with Stenger & Stenger on May 19, 2025, due to the firm not practicing within the state of ************. Additionally, debt validation is provided upon request, but Stenger & Stenger does not have record of correspondence from you proceeding this Complaint, and as such, no validation has been provided. Complaint: 23337641

I am rejecting this response because:

Thank you for your continued assistance in this matter.
After reviewing the response submitted by Stenger & Stenger, P.C., I would like to formally state that their reply is unsatisfactory and does not resolve the issue I raised in my original complaint.
Stenger & Stenger has confirmed that the account in question was closed on May 19, 2025, due to the firm no longer operating in the state of ************. While they claim to have not received prior dispute or validation requests from me, I maintain that I made multiple good-faith attempts to request debt validation and contest the accuracy of the account reporting. The absence of their records does not invalidate my efforts.
More importantly, if Stenger & Stenger is no longer servicing the account and they acknowledge closure as of May 19, 2025, then there is no reason this collection account should remain on my credit report particularly if the original creditor ************************* has failed to validate the debt. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), consumers have the right to dispute inaccurate or unvalidated debt. Continued reporting of such a disputed account is both misleading and damaging.
I am requesting that the BBB assist in ensuring the following resolution:
The account related to *********************** be permanently removed from all consumer credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion).
That Stenger & Stenger and *********************** be held accountable for any failure to follow proper dispute and validation procedures.
That I be provided written confirmation that this account will no longer be pursued, reported, or re-sold to any third party.
This matter remains unresolved, and I urge the BBB to continue its investigation and advocacy for fair reporting and consumer protection.
    Sincerely,

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:
I am not able to take off work Wednesday and I am really trying to find a solution to avoid court. Is there something I can sign to try to work this out by email? I would be willing to to have automatic payments taken out of my account each month and sign something stating that.

Had a garnishment, paid it in full before the garnishment went into effect. Stenger refuses to issue me a receipt for my payment. And refuses to contact employer to stop garnishment from progressing. *** was beyond rude and this company made it insanely difficult to actually pay the debt. So give me my proof! And send it to the employer! It's not about the money! It's totally my fault for ignoring it, but if I'm actively paying you what you want why be so rude and make it so difficult? And how are you not giving receipts for the transaction?

    Business Response

Stenger & Stenger, P.C. is in receipt of your BBB complaint # ******** in which you indicated that you paid off an account prior to garnishment, but Stenger & Stenger refuses to issue a receipt for your payment, refused to contact your employer to stop the garnishment, that the Stenger representative was rude, and Stenger &Stenger made it difficult to pay the debt.

Stenger & Stenger received payment in full for this account on a May 8, 2025, call, and has commenced the closure process for the account. The firm filed a release of the garnishment with the court as well as faxed a copy to your place of employment on May 13, 2025. The firm also mailed you a receipt letter as was requested on the May 8 call, mailed to your address on or about May 12, 2025.  In regard to your complaint allegations, please note that Stenger & Stenger sent you a letter notifying you of the firms intention to proceed with a garnishment on March 19, 2025, and did not proceed with filing the garnishment until on or about April 18, 2025, after receiving no response. Stenger &Stenger also reviewed the call recording for the May 8, 2025, call. This call was between your spouse and Stenger & Stenger, and the firm found no evidence of rude behavior on behalf of the firms call representative, nor any difficulties processing the payment, or a refusal to contact your employer to stop the garnishment. The firms call agent advised Stenger & Stenger would issue a receipt for the payment and fax the garnishment release to your place of employment. Your spouse expressed dissatisfaction with the timeline that was provided for the letter and release of garnishment and requested to be transferred to a supervisor, but the call disconnected while holding to be transferred.

Not sure why a garnishment order was filed again at the end of February for $2,187.00 with $517.50 of payments made when there was a settlement offer on $1,669.50 (debt owed) was mailed to me at the beginning of February and had until the middle of March to accept it. I accepted the settlement offer at the beginning of March and first payment was made with recurring payments set up. After looking over all of my documents I realized I had an agreement from April of 2024 for the amount $1,500.00 so the $517.50 should have applied to that balance. When the settlement offer was made at the beginning of February, I had accepted that settlement offer at the beginning of March and first payment was made with recurring payments setup. I got the agreement paperwork on March 19th and signed and emailed it to the garnishment department and the documents email noting that I had just received the agreement since it needed to be signed by March 14th. The garnishment department told me that no settlement offer had been made, and no payments or payment arrangements have been sent up. On April 3rd I made a $150 payment and then on the 4th an automatic payment $97.38 came out. So, if my math is correct the payments of $517.50 should be applied to $1,500.00 plus the recent payments that were made, I should only owe $735.12 on this account. All I have been doing is trying to get all this figured out and filed with the court so that I dont have to go to the hearing on April 30th. I have provided all my documents and emailed 7 different times and have not gotten a response yet.

    Dear ***** ********:

Stenger & Stenger, P.C. is in receipt of your BBB complaint # ******** in which you have indicated that Stenger & Stenger filed a garnishment order after offering you a settlement, that you had an agreement from April of 2024 that the payments should have been applied to, that you signed agreement documentation for the settlement offered in February of 2025 and emailed it to the garnishment department, but you were advised that no settlement offer had been made or payments set up, and that you should only owe $735.12, and are attempting to have this figured out to avoid the April 30, 2025, hearing.

Stenger & Stenger mailed you the settlement offer you referenced in your complaint on or about February 6, 2025, however, please note that the garnishment process had commenced prior to this date. While Stenger & Stenger had a settlement arrangement with you from April of 2024, the firm stopped receiving payments for this arrangement after a June 7, 2024, payment, and with the payment arrangement no longer active, the firm intended to proceed with the request for garnishment. Furthermore, mailing a settlement offer does not guarantee Stenger & Stenger of its acceptance, and thus the firm does not halt all actions on an account when a settlement offer is mailed; however, if the offer is accepted, the firm can then halt any garnishments if necessary.  Stenger & Stenger has your account noted with the settlement arrangement and payment plan, and with the hearing date set for April 30, 2025, the firm filed a request to vacate the hearing. If the hearing was still held, the firms appearing attorney would not request the garnishment be entered by the court at this time.

In regard to the previous payments of $517.50 referenced in the garnishment documentation, please note that those funds were received via voluntary post-judgment payments made in 2022, 2023, and several in accordance with the former settlement arranged in April of 2024. These prior payments, and the recent payments received in accordance with the 2025 settlement agreement, have all been applied to the account balance; however, they would not be subtracted from the $1,500.00 April 2024 settlement considering it was voided for non-payment. The current judgment balance on this account is $1,422.12, and current balance of the settlement agreement is $921.27, which is the discounted amount offered in the February settlement offer ($1,168.65), minus the two April 2025 payments received in accordance with this settlement agreement ($247.38). If you would like any additional information or discuss the balance of the account in more detail, please contact our office at the below referenced number. Stenger & Stengers standard customer service hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am 6:00pm EST. The firms call records indicate we attempted to call you on April 16, 2025, and on April 18, 2025, in response to your emails, but the firms call representatives were unable to reach you.
