  Everything was fine until they could not get a building permit, Then when I asked for my refund of my 40% down payment , they kept 22% and only refunded me 78% of what I paid.

  During a phone call the week of June 12th, it was communicated that, in this case, 10% of the order subtotal would be retained. This amount was explained as necessary to cover costs already incurred, including representative compensation, permit-related efforts, and initial steps toward material or production preparation. Also included in this was the cost of an additional site visit, which was scheduled at the request of the property owner before it was known that permitting would not be possible. The cost of this visit was discussed and agreed to in advance. It was also noted during that same call that the 10% retention was based on the order subtotal—not the down payment. Unfortunately, proper permitting could not be approved for this property due to items out of our control- one of which being: Per zoning: "Metal structures are not allowed per the ordinance." Our standard policy is that down payments are non-refundable, as they are collected to secure services and initiate project-related work. We advise all clients to consult with their local building departments before signing a binding agreement, as permitting and zoning outcomes can be outside of our control. However, in this particular case, an exception to our policy was made, and a partial refund was provided. We remain committed to fair and transparent business practices and are happy to provide any additional information the BBB may require.

  Ordered and paid for a garage. They came and installed good and on time, but didn't finish it correctly. I paid for insulation. I didn't get any insulation. They just wanted to give me my money back. Didn't want money, just wanted my garage Insulated. I now have a moisture problem and it has been a year dealing with them and no resolution. Always tells me they have to schedule someone to come out. Next call says the person I dealt with is no longer working there. I saw the crew working on a garge less than 5 miles away from mine but yet can't come to me. The worst customer service I've had in a while. After 10 calls and too much time.... nothing is done.

   ordered 18x20 enclosed carport w/5 x 20 enclosure. Upgraded to 26ga. steel, had everything signed & $2661 down payment paid 10/23/23. 11/22/23 I receive email stating the vendor could not get original color ordered & I agreed to change it. My order continued to be delayed due to the vendor. You can't always blame the "other guy". 12/14/23, delivery scheduled. Crew stated they wouldn't be able to complete the installation because they were missing panels, I refused the delivery. No one ever called to tell me they didn't have all the materials or else I would have told them to call me when they had everything. After 5 or 6 weeks of nothing, I finally get another call on 1/23/24 stating they still didn't have the materials & asked me to wait until spring. DON"T EVER AGREE TO WAIT!! Apparently by agreeing to wait you void your initial agreement of their guarantee & you are no longer entitled to your $50 a week credit until the job is complete. FINALLY, on 3/22/24, after I made contact to see if they were ready to schedule the installation yet, they schedule me for 4/11/24. After 5 1/2 months of waiting, we may actually get our carport!! WRONG!! A different crew came out this time, neither of which were able to communicate with me. Any time I had a question, they had to call their boss in order for me to understand and then she would relay it to them, so basically a translator. Near the end, as the crew is cleaning up, I am THEN informed that they are missing materials!!!!! MISSING MATERIALS!! After nearly waiting 6 months from the date they got their money it still wasn't right. The CEO gets involved at this point and sure they gave me a discount for my inconvenience & how sorry they were, but the 2nd I brought up their guarantee, he immediately pointed the finger back at me, it was my fault because I agreed to wait. NEVER again will I do any business with this company & I definitely WILL NOT recommend them to anyone else. STAY AWAY!! BUYER BEWARE!!! Still not done!

  I started May of 2022 with the Co. website simulator and created a perfect 20x22 garage. This Co. is dishonest and I highly recommend not to sign a contract with them. I paid $1,116.00 for a roll-up door that I was totally taken on and they took the 1st door back because I forked out another $2,000.00 for the overhead door. I never received a credit or any refund for the 1st door to my account. I was told that the overhead door was on back order about 6-8 weeks, and late Oct 2022 the door was installed. My building was complete in July of 2022 minus the door. Not even a year later, just when I thought I was done my garage door would not go up or down. I did call Midwest when I could heard a clunk and I was watching the whole frame shift. I was told the garage flexes with the weather. I called a local Co. and upon there investigating the frame installed backwards. I couldn't get any vehicles out and with Midwest always 3-4 weeks to service, I had no choice but to have a new garage door installed. Now I'm paying on 3 doors, I tried small claims court and won according to the magistrate but Midwest won by appeal because I signed a contract, the contract was 4 - 2022 until 4 - 2023. To top it off upon my own investigating I noticed the sticker on the 2nd door was delivered to a **** **** co in lansing back in Sept of 2021, the door Midwest stated was on backorder. I called ****** ****** and they stated that the door installed was the lowest construction grade door and it is a model 1285 and installed is only $1,287.00 The invoice from Midwest shows a #2250 which is only a rating number. Should I have Midwest try to fix this problem if wasn't right the first time. 2nd the door is trash and beyond repair. Midwest has a no refund policy, because the door was used. Midwest has done nothing to make this right! The 1 yr. hassle free warranty not there. They sell low quality products and they don't know the meaning of values or standards. New Co. new door and 5yr warranty.

  Allen S and his team at Midwest Steel Carports were very helpful to us with the initial installation of our carport last fall. The team was hard working, efficient, and dependable. All the workers were respectful of the space and property; they cleaned up so well, you could barely tell they had been there. They also helped us with some additional work we needed added to the carport this year. We highly recommend Allen and his team for any type of covered steel structures you may need.
