RUN! In August 2021 we purchased a salvage car from Laker. We test drove the car and it seemed stable. I talked to the salesman about the frame and was assured the car was safe. The dealership had good reviews so I naively thought I could trust them and I chose not to have the car inspected by an outside source since it can take weeks to get into a mechanic! I did attempt to protect myself by purchasing a warranty. Within days of bringing it home I noticed it was leaking oil. I immediately called them and brought it in. They took it to their mechanic who basically just cleaned it up and sent me home. It started leaking oil again, not trusting their mechanic, I brought it to mine who did a brief inspection but they did not accept my warranty, I decided to wait until Christmas break when my son did not need the car and take it to a mechanic recommended by Laker. I contacted them again in December and at their recommendation went to a mechanic in Holland. The next day the mechanic called and said they did not want to fix the oil leak because once they had it up on the lift they saw that the frame was improperly repaired and would be unsafe. They recommended I take it back to Laker Motors. I immediately contacted Laker and went in the very next day to speak with them. I was told I would get a call back in a few hours. I did not. I then took the car to a frame shop. After inspecting the car they told me they didn't even want to attempt to fix it. He recommended I return the car to the dealership and said he would not let a family member drive the car. I immediately requested that Laker contact the frame shop. They never did. Through all of this I tried to communicate and got no response. When we went in we were then told by the owner that they would not be working with us for any solution. Legally I have no rights under lemon law, Morally, Laker Motors is forcing our family to take an $8,000 loss or drive an unsafe car that two mechanics do not even want to fix.
