Around March 22nd I contacted Best Buy because my vehicle started shutting off, they referred me to Precision Claims about the issue, they then sent me to one of their repair shops, at the time I was told I had a oil value issue and told me what it would cost to fix and that they already spoke with Precision Claims and they were covering it, they told me I needed a oil change and offered to do it I refused bc of the price and took where I normally go for oil changes. Three days later I notified oil leaks in the driveway, I was losing oil at a high rate and this wasnt a problem before hand. So maybe two weeks later I contacted Claims again and explained the oil leaking, this time I took the car to Robinhood Muffler another one of their shops and was told the alternator was full of oil and once again Claims dont cover that so I on my own purchased a alternator and had it replaced, now a month later car still cutting off, called claims again , took it back to Robinhood and was told it was the engine and it need to be replaced ! Now claims agreed to this but I had to pay a $500 deductible. The vehicle was fixed took about a month ! Picked the car up and before I made it home it shut off again. I called Robinhood they told me to bring the car back the had it all weekend and when I called that Monday I was told it was the thermostat and water pump and it would be $500 , I said wait those are part of the engine werent you supposed to check all that , when I picked up the car the mechanic said I fixed all your leaks and your good no charge. Didnt make home before it shut off again and I live four minutes away.Business Response

In May of 2023 I went to carcity location in Muskegon. I leased a 2014 dodge journey. As I got it home a few days I took the doge in and had a mechanic inspect it for me,which I feel I'm entitled to so, so he found that the rear main was leaking and a rusted out oil pan. So I called precision claims with the concerns of oil leaking so they gave me a mechanic they use that was M37 auto in white cloud ********. So I made an appointment and had it fixed within the 1st 30 days so I did not have to pay a copay. So after I got the journey home the next day I noticed oil in my driveway guess what still leaking. So I took it back they said there was nothing leaking well I collected oil under the leak with a clear jar very visible it was oil. So after taking it back 3 times, I went and had my car inspected again from a different mechanic. Never told him what was done just told him it was leaking oil and if he could help me find where it was coming from. Well after a very thorough inspection guess what he found, rear main seal and oil pan. So I called persion claims to let them know it was not fixed. So I've been trying to get carcity to help me. So they agreed to have it inspected and fixed. So I was suppose to take there and on April 4th the power steering went so I talked **** from sales he was suppose to call me back with a day to come pick the car up. I called orbit leasing to try to get help, so ****** from carcity called me Wednesday and asked for my address she said she would call right back and tell me what day. So now my car has been leaking oil for a year and now the power steering is out. I've been calling ****** and leaving messages and emails and she still won't return my calls. My next payment is due Monday the 15th and I haven't even been able to drive it and trying to find rides to work. I feel she never had any attentions on helping me, she said it's orbit leanings problem if payment isn't made. I want to do the right thing, but I feel carcity does not.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because: carcity finally came and picked the journey up on April 15th, never got a call or respond to message until April 22nd and they haven't even diagnosed it yet and lied about calling me. So I talked with ****** on the 23rd and before they would even diagnosed it I had to agree to pay $100.oo for deductible for the power steering can get fixed, not even knowing if all the oil leaks will be able to be fixed by them. I agree to pay and still waiting for a call to see if they are able to fix the original problem in the first place. So I'm sorry I won't be satisfied until I know I'm able to drive the car knowing it has been fixed. I take very good care of my vehicles and this car has been leaking oil since day 1 and should of never been for sale. This is a big investment for me and I need to trust who I'm buying from and who works on it. I'm still waiting to hear back from ****** which she said she would call by Thursday the 25th with an answer. Just so you know I've been without a car since April 4th and their costumer service has not been very good why has taken this long to even let me know if they can fix it. I should not have been without a vehicle this long. So until I have the journey back in working order I can not accept this response.

I bought a 2018 Dodge journey in October 2023. 6 days after I bought it I was stuck on the side of the road because the alternator went bad. So it was towed to my house and I took it to the mechanic precision claims gave me. A week later it was chugging at 55 mph. Got it scanned said catylictic converter and o2 sensor. In the process of waiting for the same shop to get me in the break sensor went out and had to be towed from my house. When it went to the mechanic he had it for about a month before I got it back. Picked it up the traction control light was on which it wasnt before. Then the check engine light came on right after. Car city did provide me with a loaner car both times. But since my car was in the shop for the 30 day no deductible warranty I didnt have to pay it. My car is still chugging the motor revs. I got the whole warranty for everything. But its hard to take it in to a shop as to i work. Being a business and customer are there way of living they should try a little better. I would have loved to take this one back and get something else. I put 3000$ down even and my payment is still 484. If its technically a lease you should be able to trade it in.Business Response

First even though my payments have been sporadic and inconsistent I have not missed one monthly payment since the beginning of my lease. Car City has turned off my vehicle 3 times. Two of those times they apologized and turned the vehicle back on without payment because I still had time to make it. And one time AFTER I made my payment because their system didn't update. Also several times on the day of or day before my car payment is due , upon getting into the car and starting the car a very high pitched annoying beeping occurs that last for at least a minute. And it does this all day. Even after making the payment. I have to either call them or wait for their system to catch up. On one of the occasions I accidentally parked the car at my home and didn't put the car in park. (My mistake) When I came out to the car it wouldn't start because the battery was dead. I then realized that I made my payment one day after I said I would. And because car city cannot turn the car off when it's in drive they killed the battery sending signals to the car all night long to see if the car was in park. Not only is this very annoying and frustrating it is also VERY embarrassing when you have a client in the vehicle with you. That happened once WHEN THEY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. It cannot be something that is good for the vehicle or the battery to keep doing this every single month. It feels like harassment. Keep in mind again that I haven't missed one payment yet. As in my payments have all been paid before the end of the month. Secondly, the day I signed my lease I was told that Car City has loaner cars for when your vehicle is in the shop being repaired. I've been in need 2 times since July. They do not answer the phone at the Muskegon location so I had to take a cab there at $20 a ride TWICE.The first time they told me they would have one the next day. Well they didn't.And now I need one again. This time they told me that they made cuts so there are no loaners available. EVERBusiness Response

According to the notes provided by Orbit Leasing, the vehicle finance company, the customer has communicated with Orbit Leasing about the customers payment situation and has made weekly payment arrangements. In the arrangement, the customer agreed to pay the amount by 5pm on the day of the arrangement, the vehicle is shut-off. After one incident, the customer and general manager of Orbit Financing amended the weekly payment date to provide more time for the customer. However, the customer has not always been able to pay by the agreed upon arrangement, resulting in the shut-off of the vehicle.
A warning alarm has been set on the customers vehicle and it is set for 24 hours as a signal to have the customer call Orbit Leasing. If the customer calls, the signal is turned off.
Car City does provide a courtesy vehicle if one is available and when the vehicle is diagnosed by a participating repair facility and the information is submitted to Car City. However, this is not a guaranteed benefit outlined in the lease agreement.

I am currently leasing through Orbit on a 2015 ***** Impala Ltz I got from Car City 993 location *************** Ten months later after spending over 3 grand in repairs the car is still not completely fixed. Fuel pump started going out 2 days into driving got it fixed gas mileage is still horrible. Many other issues including abs breaking system errors had to replace the leaky sunroof. Wiring issues that my mechanic asked if the car was in a flood. Not to mention the cost it took to get the vehicle towed and paying for a vehicle that spent alot of time sitting or in a shop. I call Orbit the leasing company and they can't even tell me the actual progress of my loan, when credit karma tells me I have only paid off $161 of my loan. I feel like I got robbed. They only way out they gave me was to go buy another car somewhere else to take over the lease or get it refinanced. This place sold me a total lemon. Came with a 6 month warranty but when I called the warranty company they would not pay for any of the repairs. I am extremely unhappy with this experience I basically bought a <4000 dollar car for when it's payed off for over $20000. Thanks alot Car City for the peice of garbage you sold me I understand your a bad credit lot so I guess I should just assume the position on this one.Business Response

I bought a car in august and in November my car wouldn't start. I took it in to the auto shop that was under the warranty. The auto shop told them what was wrong with the car. The engine was bad. They said i needed another engine. The engine was 3700. They also said it was 4 liters low of oil. The warranty company said if anything is low on fluids then it is not covered under the **************** carcity said it was my fault because I should have seen the oil leak. The mechanic told them I wouldn't have seen it. They said the car set on their lot a couple days and it showed no leak. They said they hoisted it up in the air and there was no drippings. They didn't find out until they started to touch certain things. They said that it evaporated around a gasket so I would not have seen it. Carcity said after they were told this that they'd pay 100 towards repairs. How am I supposed to have a warranty for something and it's supposed to make sure I have reliable transportation and the warranty made me feel at ease with buying from them. I will never work with a company like this again.Business Response

Thank you for reaching out to Car City with your concerns. Were sorry that the customer is having an unsatisfactory experience.
The customer contacted ********************** on 1/4/24 and spoke with our Warranty Manager to communicate vehicle mechanical issues in the stated complaint. The customer indicated that Precision Claims, the *************** Contract claims administrator, did not approve the submitted claim.
According to the information received by the repair facility and Precision Claims, it does not appear that the customer had the vehicle inspected upon first sign of mechanical issue, resulting in significant damage to the engine. The vehicle would have had visible and obvious issues with the condition that has been reported regarding the engine oil level.
Prior to contacting Precision Claims regarding the stated complaint, the customer had reported to Orbit Leasing, the finance company, on 11/2/23, that they were involved in an accident where the customer had rear ended someone in the vehicle. The customer provided images of the vehicle damage, stating front-end damage and indicated that the radiator was leaking fluid.
It was therefore determined that the issues were not caused by normal use, resulting in the denial of the claim.
Car City offered to pay up to $1,000 towards the repair or provide a repair agreement where the customer can pay for the repair in installments. Initially, the customer indicated that they would select the repair agreement option.
All Car City vehicles are inspected by our licensed mechanics before they are placed on our lots. Vehicles are inspected for safety and customers can have their vehicles inspected by an outside licensed mechanic prior to taking delivery.
Currently, we are unable to fulfill the customers request for a replacement. The customer is welcome to call and speak again with our director of sales or our warranty manager if there is anything we have missed or miscommunicated to the customer.

I am rejecting this response because: yes I did have an accident but I paid for that out of pocket. According to the mechanic my accident had nothing to do with what's wrong with the engine. The mechanic said their was no way for me to know what was happening with the vehicle. There was no oil leak or anything. They simply stated this was just a bad engine. Actually if I didn't have the accident I would have never known this was a bad engine until it locked up. This was the first time I had any idea anything was wrong. They said they would not enforce the warranty because it was low on fluids. Car city said I should have noticed an oil leak. The mechanic himself told them that I wouldn't have. Yes they offered to pay ******* towards the new engine. That is not enough. I got this car to make sure I had a reliable way back and fourth to work. I don't have that anymore. Why should I pay for a car that doesn't work. If I couldn't have known anything was wrong with the car how am I responsible. For that 1000 dollars they offered to pay. They also require me to pay the 2000 by myself first. No payment plan for the 2000. If I had 2000 just lying around I wouldn't have went to carcity. I'm sorry but this is unexceptable.
