Service Today replaced my gas and and old water pipes in the basement and installed shutoff valves, as well, and overall it was a good job. However, the next day our house started going cold and we called another company and they found that the technician for Service Today had mistakenly cut our boiler line and installed a valve instead of a valve for my rear spigot. That visit cost me 300 while the original job was 14k. For that price, I expect it to work. The only way we got Service Today to even verbally commit to fixing things was by applying pressure from the payment plan provider, ********. However, soon after committing to come fix the valve issue and to pay for the 300 visit from the other company, Service Today disappeared completely and never returned any calls.

Service Today installed four new smoke alarms on 9/26/2019. They were supposed to last 10 years but failed in 5. I had them out again on 8/19/2024, and they installed four new alarms (again with a supposed 10-year life). Three of the four have been going into error state (three short beeps every 60 seconds; red LED). When I called to have them come out again today, I discovered they have gone out of business. Another business inherited their phone number but won't honor any of their warranties. Now I'm not sure what to do. I can pay AGAIN to have new ones installed, but that would be the third time buying new installed in six ******** I have any recourse in this matter, or am I stuck with another bill?

Service Today was hired for electrical and plumbing services for a renovation project. After installation the sink would not drain. Service Today had to send a new plumber out to fix the issue. We were told we needed to install a gas "manifold" with our new water heater. After install we realized there was a gas leak. We called Service Today, they were not concerned, I had to demand that they send someone out to fix it. When a different employee came to fix the gas line we were told that "manifold" wasn't necessary and that in his opinion they made us do it, just to charge us more money. When the new electrical panel was installed, it was not the correct size, the workers installing it said "that's the one we were told to put in" After attempting to contact the employee who originally did the quote for us I was unable to connect with him and when I called to ask for a detailed list of all the work that had been done in the house so far, no one would provide it to me. I was instead told that someone "would contact me". A NEW (to us) employee came to the house saying he was there to work on the electrical. However, he had no clue what work he was supposed to be doing so my husband showed him the outlets we needed done. We needed a new outlet box installed above the stove for the microwave. This employee said he was told to put electricity in the island ,my husband told him the electricity was already installed in the island. He vanished into our electrical room for a while and when he came back out he said "the island has power now!", but he couldn't tell us where it was coming from since the island had already been done and instead packed up & left. I contacted a scheduling manager at this point and explained what had happened and how dissatisfied I was with the service. They sent a new electrician about a week later but he only did some of the work and never installed the outlet for the microwave, just left bare wires hanging out of the wall in a few places.

I have a monthly service plan through service today and am charged a monthly fee. I have been calling them for over a month for work that needs to be done and havent gotten any response from them. Today, I called a different number I found online, and received a return call from Legendary Home Services informing me that Service Today went out of business weeks ago. I was just charged my monthly fee on 11/18, even though this company is out of business.

Service today has a website where you can "contact them via email" or message. I have reached out several times and recently screen shotted my request to cancel my monthly subscription which I have met the minimum required period a long time ago and they keep charging me. This $24.99 fee has been charged to me for MONTHS even though I have requested at least 5xs for this to be cancelled. I just got charge AGAIN on 9/15

On May 15, 2024 I was charged by Service Today my annual maintenance fee of $299.88. On June 12, 2024 I called Service Today because our ac was not working. During that call I was informed that Service Today no longer operates in ******* and I should have received an email stating that fact. I never received any such email. I questioned why would I be charged a maintenance fee if you could no longer perform the duties outlined in the maintenance contract. I was offered a refund but have yet to see it and the phone number now goes directly to voicemail.

I am rejecting this response because: I was told by the representative I spoke to that I would be receiving my refund "in the next few days". My account never should have been charged in the first place. They have had over a month to get me the refund.

My furnace failed the night of March 3, 2024. I contacted Service Today (ST) and requested assistance to diagnose the problem. ST had installed the Daikin furnace in 2019. ST technicians arrived on March 4. Their conclusion was that the furnace was incompatible with the air duct system in my home. I asked why this wasnt addressed at the time of furnace installation in 2019. They stated that the incompatibility issues only began to arise after the original installation. They offered 3 possible solutions ranging in cost from $7,270 to over $20,000. I was too eager to resolve the problem, agreed to the low cost option and paid them a deposit of $3.635. The work was scheduled for March 7. At this point I decided I needed second opinions and rescheduled the work to be done by ST for later in the month. The first second opinion was obtained on March 12. Their opinion was that there was no incompatibility between the furnace and the air duct system. They also wondered why it would take almost 5 years from the time the furnace was installed for the problem identified by ST to arise. The second opinion discovered that the furnace air filter was dirty. This they believe was cause of the furnace failure. Either ST did not check the air filter or they choose to ignore it. On March 13 I sent an email to ST cancelling the upcoming scheduled service and requested a refund of my $3,635 deposit. On March 14 I received an email from ST stating that the work order would be cancelled and the refund would be credited within 10 working days. Today is May 6 and I have not received the credit. On April 17 I obtained an second second opinion which confirmed the first second opinion that there is no incompatibility between the furnace and the air duct system. At this point I feel scammed and demand a refund of my deposit.

I purchased an "Optimum" Comfort System (furnace) from Service Today for $10,005.56 on 2/17/2020. This package promises you 10 year comfort guarantee, 2 year 100% satisfaction guarantee, 12 year parts and labor... just to name a few. This is a lot of money for a furnace but having the guarantee was worth it to us and this is what they recommended we get. They do a yearly call to come out and do a maintenance check. They were late the first two times which they ended up calling and rescheduling and they finally made it the third time. Our static pressure was measuring at .7 and it needs to read .5 or lower. This means our furnace is having to work harder than it should and may not last the 12 -20 years they said it would. When they installed the furnace they had to redo some of our duct work which was approved by us. Now they are saying they need to do another $6,052 worth of work that I need to pay for. WHAT???? That diagnostic check should have been free, they called me to come out and check. This was July 10, 2023. Looking back in my paperwork, they system also failed in 2021 when it measured .56. Nothing was said at this point as I was still "under warranty". When I buy a furnace for over $10,000 I would not expect to have to pay a $398 diagnostic fee, especially since they called me. My husband was home and agreed to the fee and when I spoke to ************* did say he would "credit" me. I never saw this credit. This is false advertising and breach of contract on their part. I relied on their expertise on which system to buy for them to now say it doesn't work properly and they want me to pay more money. I have to plug a portable heater in my bedroom in the winter and a portable air conditioner in the summer. No 100% satisfaction there. DO NOT USE Service Today unless you want to get scammed. They are a complete joke and will NOT standby what they are selling. Paperwork can be provided in person.

      Business Response

When the furnace was installed, more ductwork was added to provide more air flow.

The system needs additional air flow and solutions have been provided to fix this and ensure the system is running according to manufacturers standards. The furnace was installed 4 years ago  and is a high efficiency system. At the time of the furnace being installed the ductwork was not fully updated. To ensure the system can run at its manufacturers standards, additional upgrades are needed to increase the duct work capacity.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 03/11/2024

I am rejecting this response because: the $10,000 furnace that YOU recommended I put in and the CORRECT duct work needed should have been done initially.  You will see from my initial complaint, the static pressure failed inside the 2 year 100% Satisfaction Guarantee, however, you did NOT disclose the failure at this time. You sell this amazing warranty with your product of 12 year Parts & Labor....  why was I charged a diagnostic then?  Where is my $500 No Frustration Guarantee or Money Back Guarantee? No one in their right mind would pay $16,000 for a furnace for a less than ***** square foot house.  Options were given to me to pay for an extra wall air conditioner in my bedroom, like they use in the older hotel rooms, or the Air Flow Turbo Charge Kit for $6052. Another option was to "redo" duct work.  Why didn't you do it right the first time?  Service Today is the expert in Heating and Cooling, not me, so I went off their recommendation and now they won't stand behind their product and warranty.  All paperwork to back up my complaint can be provided and it will show the dates.  I was told by **************** would get the diagnostic money back and I have yet to see it.  The furnace they installed is having to work to hard to heat and cool my house which will then cause the entire system to fail.  Currently the warranty has gotten me nothing.  They have "A No Lemon Purchase" which is a Furnace/AC Replacement Guarantee.  If they are saying my system isn't working efficiently, I would like to have the replacement guarantee. How do you think you don't have to stand by everything promised on the "Optimum" Comfort System checklist.  We have been a customer of ********************************************* as we bought an A/C unit from them.  We thought we could trust their warranty and their salesman to deliver what the warranty guarantees, well I guess not.  Take ownership in your product and your company to do what you promised in my warranty, in my contract which you have now breached.

      Business Response

We are sorry for the miscommunication. We will refund the Diagnostic Fee charged. Please contact us at ************ to discuss further solutions.

      Customer Answer

      Date: 03/25/2024

I am rejecting this response because:  I was told before by ******* that I would get the diagnostic fee back. My last conversation with him was he couldn't refund me the money... and now you can?  You sold me a warranty and you refuse to standby it.  Where is my Comfort Guarantee, Your Peace of Mind, Materials & Labor, ******************** A No Lemon Purchase... to name a few.  See attached documents or documents will follow in a different email.  I have documents from *********** that proves there is no Energy Savings.  ******* told me that the manufacturer (******) changed their specs in the last couple years and they won't warranty their product if ratios are not met to this standard. That ensures ServiceToday installs their equipment correctly.  My system was not installed to meet the specs adequately, they say the air flow makes it run harder than it should which will make my system fail sooner than it should.  They added duct work at installation and turned out to be inadequate.  This is NOT my problem.  When the manufacturer changed their specs, that's an issue between them and ServiceToday.  They want to charge me another $6450 for an Air Flow Turbo Charge Kit.  That would have been over $17,000 for a new furnace at bidding time. There are lots of complaints that read a lot like mine and this needs to stop.  I not only want my diagnostic fee returned but the complete cost for another company to install everything needed for my furnace to run properly.  It didn't last 2 years under the manufacturers specs and surely won't next time I call when my heating bill rises because it has been running over capacity and eventually dies. What happens then?

I financed a new furnace and central air unit in January 2023.The central air doesnt work. They mentioned a few explanations that dont match including: the other team installed it wrong, the capacitor was faulty, the duct work in my house caused it to break, its my fault the centra air doesnt work. Its under warranty. They ordered the part (or so they claim). We have had three dates where they were to come out here and fix the central air. Its not fixed. I mostly just speak to a nice receptionist who isnt sure what to do but out a note in the system. Ive spoken to a tech once or twice who is friendly but two heat waves have come and gone, Im still making payments on this, and I have no central air. I have children and I want the house to be safe and comfortable. I want the central air to work. Now.
