My car has been out of my procession for the last 4 weeks. between Walser GMC Bloomington and Walser ****** of ********** and I got my car back 2 days ago on the 04/19/23. I am very upset at this as I have a warranty which state that I get a free rental car and they said they didn't have anymore rental cars and told me to pay for a rental car from enterprise as I am a 23 year old college student I don't have the money to pay for a rental car. When I originally got it it felt a little off and then as I have been driving it I have smelt something burning which in all fairness I wasn't sure if that was my car or another car on the road but then I went to get gas and my car barley started. I am very unhappy because I haven't had a car in over 3 week and all they did was make sure the engine lights were off basically. I am going to have to give it back after not having it for the 3 weeks and once again I get go to not having a car even though when I bought it the warranty said I get a free rental car.

Our understanding of this situation is different from the customer's.  The general manager of ********************** has called the customer and left several voicemails, but the customer has not called us back.  We would be happy to try to remedy the customer's concerns.

We would, however, point out that our records show that the vehicle was in the shop from April 10 - 19 (not a period of 3 to 4 weeks, as stated by the customer).  Further, we completed over $1,000 of repairs which were covered under the vehicle's service contract, so far more work was performed on the vehicle than simply "turning off a check engine light."

I recently purchased a used vehicle from this dealership paying in full with a check. They requested that I complete a credit check. I asked why when I'm paying for the vehicle in full, and they said it was to verify who I was. According to the **** this is not supposed to happen, as there was no reason to pull a credit report. They never fully explained who they share this information with and auto scrolled down the table screen to allow me to sign. Now I'm receiving mail from companies offering my items based off my credit.I need this credit check removed from my credit report and for the company to stop sharing my information.

I apologize for the misunderstanding.  Walser's finance team has revised the credit check from a "hard pull" to a "soft pull."  There is no way to remove it completely from a credit report unless the result of fraud or certain other very limited situations.

A business is in fact authorized to pull credit where it has a "legitimate business need for the information in connection with a business transaction that is initiated by the consumer."  (See Section 604 of the **** at https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/545A-****-08-2022-508.pdf.)  Car dealerships routinely pull credit on transactions paid with a check to baseline that the customer is in fact financial sound enough to make good on such a large payment.

We hope this helps resolve this complaint.  Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:
Just over three years ago, I purchased another vehicle from another car dealership under the parent company Walser Auto.  At that time that dealership ran a credit check and I paid with a check.  I mentioned this to the dealership that day, so they could have used that record as proof of my good standing.
