My 1995 Silverado transmission failed 7/24/24. Towed to Allen Transmission in **********. On 7/26, ***** asked for $1000 which I paid. ***** called 8/9 after towing truck ****** Transmission in *********. ***** returned call 8/21 asking for $2000. Transmission was eventually sourced. I was told several times my truck would be ready soon. Called throughout September, October, and November. Asked for and was told I would receive itemized parts list. Estimate for between $54-5700. In December, issue with the shifter. Took original shifter to shop was later told it wouldn't fit either. I called 1/17/25 for status, no estimate except soon given. ***** said he would give me parts at cost. Called 1/31 still not ready needing test driven for adjustments. ***** called 2/11 said truck was ready but didn't have the paperwork no final cost beyond previously quoted. ***** returned call on 2/12 with a final cost of almost $7000. Significantly MORE than the earlier quotes. At ****** Transmission, drivers side mat was in the bed of the truck; drivers side carpet had brown, oily shop dirt ground into the blue carpet; ***** shifter was installed, but the shifter k*** and lock nut damaged and reinstalled improperly; glove compartment had been rifled through. ***** was not at shop, I spoke to ***. Disagreement about total. He called ***** on speakerphone to no resolution on cost. Told I would not see receipts. I don't know specific parts replaced and if ***** gave me parts at cost. Between two shops, truck out of my custody nearly SEVEN months. Spoke with *** 3/5, requested parts/part number list, transmission invoice and warranty information. He told me he would relay to *****. On 3/13, asked ***** for replacement parts list and warranty information for transmission. He replied he would have parts girl look. *** offered to get the warranty information for me. *** emailed warranty information next day. I am still waiting on the parts list and "at cost" proof from *****.Initial Complaint

My 2011 ****** Tundra was dropped off to Allen transmission on approximately January 16th. After 2 weeks they told me that they were having trouble finding the parts to rebuild my transmission 3 days later they told me they had all the parts so I gave them another week then they told me they had to find more parts but they were having trouble finding them so I gave them another week then they said they had all the parts. So I gave them another week then they said they were having trouble finding parts so I gave them a couple more days and they said they had all the parts. So I gave them a few more days then they said they were having trouble finding more parts. I feel like they have not been honest with me. I have paid them $2,500 now they say that the bill is going to be $2,700 more I don't have a problem paying that but I do want them to finish my transmission first and I would like an explanation of what it's taking so long I know people who have had their transmission rebuilt in one week by other shops.Business Response

They are going to charge me a storage fee for my vehicle being there. He is upset because I filed a complaint with the BBB. He took the transmission out without my permission. I didn't give him authorization to take it out and then now he wants to charge me.

I paid them to rebuild my transmission for about $4000 it took them 4weeks to finish the job unfortunately the transmission had plenty of issues right out of the gate it had loud noises and really bad stomping in between the first and the second gear and it also was jerking and still jerk to this day we took it back to him several times they supposedly program the computer to with some alarm mode or something like that kept my vehicle for an additional 5 days everyone we talked to over there on the phone was very rude and very unprofessional they don't have any remedy to fix the transmission nor do they want to fix the transmission and the transmission is still having problems to this day and they don't want to care or remedy the situation now it fills like it's draining on the engine and I called them and they blamed it on unknown errors telling me I need to take it to whomever fix my ecm which has nothing to do with the transmission no further contact with the business is necessary as far as correspondence it is a legal matter at this point ?? remedies onlyBusiness Response

Ms. ***** original brought us her vehicle in March for
repairs. We completed the necessary repairs per her authorization. Ms. ***** received
her vehicle in proper working manner. Ms. ***** notified us in July that she was
having issues with her vehicle. We asked Ms. ***** bring her vehicle to us a
soon possible so we would be able to diagnose the problem. Upon Ms. ***** bringing
us her vehicle back in July we found that she was having some type of electrical
issue, and by continuing to operate her vehicle would cause the vehicle more harm.
We advised Ms. ***** she needed to take her vehicle to an electrical specialist
immediately, since we do not preform electrical work. We did not hear back from
Ms. ***** after she visit in July.
Ms. ***** advised us in November that she had electrical short
in her alternator, which shorted out her vehicles computer. Ms. ***** had her
alternator and computer replaced in November and upon the replacement her transmission
isn’t working properly. We made Ms. ***** aware that the transmission works of
the vehicles computer to properly know when to shift and operate. We informed Ms. ***** that due to her electrical
short damaging her alternator and computer, her transmission was possibly harmed
in the process.
We are sorry Ms. ***** had and electrical issue that caused
her to have other issues with her vehicle. Ms. ***** is not owed a refund.Customer Answer

I took my car into Allen Transmission in ********** November of 2021. They had it for over a month. They were working on the transmission of my manual truck. I got the truck back right before Christmas. At the end of the month, or early January, I got COVID. I did have a 6 month warranty that they said they would extend due to my illness. I couldn't get the truck back in. I took it back to them in July. They had it again in August. It's still not fixed. I finally took it back and they told me that it was okay to drive; I had many doctor's appointments from being sick. I live fairly far out and if the car stops there's no safe place on the sides of the road. I paid over $6000 for the truck to be repaired. They say they are waiting on this "specialist." I used a credit card to pay for the repair. I have had to have a car rental which wasn't covered by my insurance and I paid by credit card and cash for that.Business Response

We are sorry *** ******** is unhappy with her experience at our location. When *** ******** brought us her vehicle in November 2021 for transmission repairs. Once we were able to remove and disassemble her transmission, we informed *** ******** of a few issues with sourcing parts for her truck. Due to current supply chain issues, we were not able to obtain all the parts we needed to fix her truck in a timely manner. *** ******** was informed of the parts issue and understood once we received her parts we would get her truck repaired. *** ******** informed us she as having some issues with her truck and we let her know she was out of warranty, and we would do our best to work with her due to her circumstances. *** ******** brought us her vehicle and we were not able to duplicate her concern, we asked her to continue to drive the vehicle as normal and inform us if a problem arises. *** ******* contacted us in August and let us know she was experiencing issue with her truck. We inspected *** ******* truck and did extensive diagnostics on the truck. Upon our tested we verified her issue with the truck, which is outside the transmission and work we preformed. We informed *** ******* of this diagnosis and gave a referral to an electrical specialist.
We are sorry *** ******* has been having issues with her truck. We spend many hours diagnosing the vehicle and did not charge *** ******* for the time. *** *******'s transmission is currently operating properly, but she does have an electrical issue. *** ******* is not owed any refund for the work we did.

They are telling the BBB that there was diagnostic and they told me that they didn't have time for one. Now they are saying that there is an issue is not the transmission. How do they know that if they didn't do a diagnostic?
