On 6/26/24, after signing the lease with this company, I found myself living in a roach-infested residence. The most distressing part was the fact that the roaches were coming out of the old stove after the leasing company tried to tell me that the stove was new and that was false. During the walk-through, I was told that the roach eggs pasted on the wood between the door frames would be replaced as it was said by the leasing agent. However, after raising the roach infestation concern to the Leasing Company, they simply stated that they would send out an exterminator, which they did two to three days after I moved in. Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem.

I informed the Leasing Company again and sent them pictures, as they requested. They then stated that they would send an exterminator out, but it was an unlicensed exterminator who works for the company, and the product used for insect killer was the same treatment I was already using.

I am a renter paying $1200 a month and $28,000 a year for two years according to the contract. I don't feel that the leasing company is taking this seriously, which is illegal according to Missouri Law. The owner of the residence resides out of state and the leasing company stated that "the owner is not going to replace the stove." I don't know what I am supposed to do. I am scared to have roaches in my home due to my disability and health.

I am tired of hearing excuses. I am asking for a resolution to my complaint, which is to remove the stove, change the wood, and replace the stove. I feel that my family and I are being taken for granted. Retaliation is not acceptable. I haven't dealt with roach problems in my life and I shouldn't have to deal with it now.

    Business Response

We did respond to the complaint. The stove is working. We have a work order request process that the tenant is aware of and should follow.  She submitted pics to BBB of a 1 bug and picture of a man at the stove. We have invoices and a statement from the pest control of spraying and no roach infestation in the stove. There were a few roaches dead but we went ahead and treated 2 separate times and laid out sticky traps. The tenant should contact the office if she has maintenance issues and they can be assessed as they have been when she called in July and maintenance was responsive and attentive to her. The Owner of the property has instructed us not to replace the stove as it is working, there is not a roach infestation and the property was treated as requested by the tenant. The tenant may contact the office is she has any further questions. Thank you.
