The business violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).In December 2021, ********************** (Brookside Apartment Complex in ******** **) turned over an outstanding balance from move-out damages. My roommate got these damages removed as they were false. Once turned over to collections, I, the consumer, was never contacted by Accudata Credit Systems which is a direct violation of the ****** The collections agency never provided validations of the debt to I, the consumer. I was unaware of the debt for 14 months, and only discovered the debt by pulling a credit report before starting my first job. Once I identified the debt, I immediately paid the debt of $281.25 to the Apartment Complex, payment receipt attached, on February 20, 2023. I would like this removed from my credit report as the agency directly violated my rights as a consumer. I recently started a dispute with Experian, they updated the negative accounts payment history. The account is marked paid/closed. Due to the violation of rights, this should be completed removed. The debt was paid directly to the creditor never the collections agency.
