Shady business practices. I paid off my loan, never got confirmation and they are still trying to take money from me. I attempted multiple times and multiple ways to contact customer support and nobody ever answers the phone. I got an email saying my request was closed with no resolution.Business Response

I’m in a poor spot with money and have been spiraling into a rabbit hole of tribal loans and this company TBO Bank was the most recent to accept me. I found out that the company Atlas Personal Finance was bought out by TBO Bank to continue to service their terrible loans. They are backed by the FDIC to be able to service these loans not too sure about the legality of that but once I noticed I was paying for crazy interest fees I tried to contact them over the phone which I waited hours and no response. I emailed them multiple times and still no response I filed a complaint and all they have sent me is an automated email. They have ignored my emails one of them asking to revoke ACH authorization. Them ignoring that request is illegal and they have been ignoring it for 2 days. This company is terrible and i’m trying to reach forgiveness or a settlement. I do not wish to do any business with this company nor do I want to give them any money. At most I will pay back what I owe with a legal interest rate and a new payment schedule. If they can not agree I will not bother with this company.Business Response

We understand the frustration *** ******** may have had related to alleged slow response times. In review of his communication history, TBO Bank has responded in a fairly expeditious manner (same day).
We respectfully maintain that this loan product is valid and enforceable under the governing legal framework. This loan product accrues daily interest charges. There are no additional fees for early repayment and these loans can be paid off in lump sum or additional payments at any time. Furthermore, it was stated that *** ********** request to cancel his voluntary recurring auto-payments was ignored. However, TBO Bank sent multiple confirmation emails confirming the request was successfully processed. TBO Bank continues to work directly with the customer; however, *** ********** statements (auto-pay & early repayment fees) within his complaint are not supported by our investigation.Additionally, when customers request a loan account, they are required to
view and electronically sign the Installment Loan Agreement, which includes the
Truth-In-Lending Disclosures. In those disclosures, we provided the frequency
of payments, the Annual Percentage Rate (APR), the finance charge, the number
of payments, and the amount of each payment in a clear and conspicuous manner. Borrowers must then formally agree to the terms prior to receiving nay loan funding.
Sincerely,
Your TBO Bank Team

I took out a loan for $2,800, but was never informed about the APR. I'm now being asked to pay $471.50 every month for 24 payments, totaling $11,316. This results in an APR of 199%, which is illegal under California law. In CA, any interest rate above 35.99% is considered criminal usuryBusiness Response

Last year my cat got really sick and I needed an emergency loan. The vet recommended I contact TBO for a loan. They lent me 2300 which I got right away. For the last year I've been paying $97 a week. Just recently I wanted to see how much I've paid off. Since I couldn't log into my account I called customer service and they informed me that my balance was $2100. Meaning I've only paid $200 off of my loan. We calculated roughly what I've paid and it was about $4800. They are charging people about a 300% interest rate and I believe that is a scam and rip off especially what kind of economy we are in. They never told me what my interest rate was and it didn't occur to me to ask because I was desperate and usually interest rates for loans are at most 23%. Since I'm having a hard time logging in, I don't have any screen shots or copies of my transactions. I went to the reviews on Google and there are so many others having the same experience. Hopefully we can resolve this and a class avtion lawsuit will take place. Thank you for your time!Business Response

I received a personal loan from TBO bank and have found through inspection of the documents and law for the state of MO where the company is based that their rate of 446.1814% annual interest rate far exceeds the state limit of 36% for said state. Additionally, despite acting as a credit account, they do not report proper on time payments to your credit report. The interest policy was not communicated well, their documentation misleads customers with no mention of the legal limit, and they are incredibly predatory on people facing hard times. This is despicable.Business Response
