We purchased a car warranty from carsheild over a year ago, we tried for about 2+ months we turned in all the paper work we had. First we filed a claim and they turned around later and said we didn't, we been getting the run around. We purchased this thinking we have a peace of mind but this has been a trouble experience they giveyou the runn around. My car has been at the repair shop for over a month now should have known Carsheild was a bad company when the dealership said they don't deal with this company and the only company that took Carsheild is getting the run around from Carsheild.. I feel like they want the money but don't want to fix people cars. No dealership around me would deal with Carsheild and the one that will has a bad experience like I am. The dealership told me Carsheild was a rip-off. Also customer service is horrible you can not contact anyone.

We purchased a policy from CarShield. They gave us a packet. We purchased the Platinum package. I made 5 payments and then my check engine light came on. We took it to a H34323430373131****35Hhip. We paid for a diagnostic. The ports needed cleaning. The H33****34313232313430H put that through to H31**34363234333237**H. H31**34363234333237**H said that was not covered. They are saying that&#**;s not part of the engine. They also say that we didn&#**;t maintain our exhaust. We asked for reimbursement and they will not reimburse us. They are also saying that we didn&#**;t file the claim within the first 30 days. I have cancelled the policy.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******************** (AAS) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per AAS' notes, the failure called in is the secondary air ports in the exhaust are clogged with carbon. There are no failed parts the system just needs to be taken apart and cleaned. This is not covered under the contract since there are no failed parts and the failure is also due to carbon build up. This is correctly denied per the contract terms.

As a resolution,CarShield will refund your last 3 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Please email ******************************* to confirm the cancellation and refund. My **** ***** **** had broken down and I took it to a shop its been there for 6 months and ******** **** ****** has had my garage jump through hoops to gain approval to fix it. The adjuster told the garage that it is a covered part but he only needed some pictures the pictures were sent in and no response from adjuster. Because the vehicle had been in the shop for 6 months the garage could not afford to wait any longer and the garage fixed it. My claim was denied due to this and I asked for a.letter saying the part was covered but due to the garage not waiting for approval the claim was denied. As a consumer I have the right to have a letter sent to.me but was denied that right. Their advertisement states let them deal with the hassle and you would have a hassle free experience. This experience has been nothing but a hassle. I would like my money back from the time my vehicle has been in the shop or my claim paid as I now have to pay the garage $2700 I have called every day since my vehicle has been in the shop and have been told nothing, I have not had a supervisor call me back or the adjuster. This has been the worse experience Ever@

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, ******** **** ****** (***) is the administrator of your vehicle service contract and has FULL authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and payments.  Your claim was reviewed by the Legal Claims Director for ***, an ASE-Certified Master Mechanic, who determined the claim had been adjudicated correctly and in accordance with the terms of the contract. Your claim was denied due to you or you repair facility not obtaining authorization prior to the repairs to your vehicle being done. While there were some delays on *** behalf, the largest portion of the delay was due to your first chosen repair facility refusing to perform diagnosis beyond the comp test, and the second chosen repair facility refusing to provide any of the diagnostic information that was requested by the adjuster. The repair facility stated that they did not want to perform the requested diagnostic for free. This would require you to authorize the diagnostic that is needed as *** is unable to cover diagnostic until they verify a coverable failure has occurred.

Instead of any diagnostic being performed, your repair facility performed the repair without authorization from ***. It is unclear whether or not you authorized them to do so, or they performed this repair without your authorization, but it is highly unlikely the repair facility would perform any repair without first being assured that it would be paid for. This resulted in the claim denial for No Prior Authorization.  Your contract clearly states at the bottom of each page "NO CLAIMS WILL BE PAID WITHOUT PRIOR AUTHORIZATION CALL ************ or ************" We have attached a copy of your contract for review.

If you have any additional concerns regarding this repair claim, you may contact ******** **** ****** directly at ************. As your service contract administrator and the obligated party under the contract terms, they will be happy to assist you with any repair claim related concerns you may still have. If you wish to cancel your contract, CarShield will refund your last 3 payments upon execution of a Settlement and Release Agreement. Please email ****************** to confirm the cancellation and refund. On 7/08/22 I call car shield to see where I could take my vehicle to get it serviced under the contract. 7/11/22 I took my vehicle to ******* ******** in ****** Ohio which they said was one of their shops. It sat there for weeks waiting on an adjuster to come out to look at it The adjuster ok the engine being taken apart so they could see what was wrong. They said when talking to myself they needed more pictures and information Told service writer that waiting to see is I was covered cause my claim was started too early. They are basing off the day I called to ask about where I could take it and not when claim was started. Didn't want to talk to me and the service writer together. They have had my vehicle for over 60 days

This is day 21 of the contract. You also called in looking for an repair facility on 7/8/2022 which is prior to completing the waiting period. With the extent of damage shown in the inspection report this has clearly been going on for longer than 58 miles.

I have been paying this company for almost a year for a extended auto warranty for almost a year before I filed a claim. I called every shop listed in my area and could not find one that would take this insurance, they all said this company is fraudulent and do not cover repairs. I finally found a shop that agreed to take it and sure enough they denied the claim and did not pay any part of the repairs.

I have had this auto warranty since 2020, this company continues to take $79.99 from my account for their Gold Plan policy, but gives me nothing but a run around when I have tried to file a claim. There are no shops in my area that will accept this insurance policy, and this company will not honor the promises they make in their advertisements. They have never paid for anything they promised, I have had to pay out of pocket for the policy and my repairs. I am a disabled senior and feel I have been taken advantage of. This company needs to pay for all the repairs or provide me a full refund of all the money they have taken from me.

Per *** there are no claims started on this contract since there have been no covered failures called in by a repair facility. On 10/26/2020 there was a pre-claim called in for a door switch it does not specify which switch. You called this in and there are no notes of a repair facility ever calling in with a claim on this issue. It would depend on the switch and what caused the failure on whether this would have coverage or not.

There is a more recent pre-claim called in on 5/23/2022 for spark plugs and transmission pan and gasket. Neither of these issues are covered under the contract. Since there was no covered failures called in there was no claim started.

Also there are 14 repair facilities within 20 miles of the your zip code on the preferred repair facility network. Hello, my name is ******* ***** and my contact number with Car Shield is/was **********. I filed a claim with Car Shield and my claim was denied for supposed pre-existing conditions which were made up by the claims adjuster to get my file off of his desk. I was told that the claims adjuster did a Vin search and discovered the alledged pre-existing conditions that could have possible existed prior to or while I was under contract with Car Shield. My vehicle was towed to a local repair facility (***** *** *****) where I was told by Car Shield that I must give the repair facility permission to tear down my engine to find the root cause of mechanical engine failure - I gave permission and expected the repair facility to tear down the engine but shortly received a voicemail from Car Shield that the claim had been denied for pre existing condition which is not possible because as required, I submitted all of the auto maintenance and repair receipts for the entire year as required by Car Shield. After finding the claim was denied, I filed a dispute/appeal for Car Shield to reopen the claim as the repair facility DID NOT tear the engine down to fine the root cause of mechanical failure as required by Car Shield. I received a call from the dispute department stating that they would have the claims adjuster reach out to the repair facility to find why the engine was not torn down and properly diagnosed and heard nothing from Car Shield since. I have made several calls to Car Shield and have now filed #3 disputes where NO ONE has returned my call and I was told that there is NOTHING that anyone can do about the matter because the claim was/is denied. My question is, "How can Car Shield find pre existing conditions AFTER entering into a contract when there were no pre existing conditions prior too and during the contractual agreement and why hasn't anyone reached out to me for a resolution?" Please help me resolve this matter -

I have been paying into this contract for a year. I have called them with concerns about my vehicle. They have given me the run around each time. Most mechanic shops do not want to deal with them because they don't pay. Carshield recommends shops, but the shops won't accept it. They should remove those commercials on TV.

The next pre-claim was on 3/21/2022. You noted it was the same issue as last time, that you did not take the vehicle to a shop to have it diagnosed.  You were once again advised to take the vehicle to a shop and have them call in with their diagnosis. *** currently has no diagnostics or any info from a repair shop on this claim. In order for your claim to move forward, you will need to take your vehicle to a repair facility  that is willing to accept the coverage and get it diagnosed so coverage can be verified. There is 57 preferred RF within 20 miles of your zip code.

However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
