      I lived in the St. Louis area for just over a year and used
      the St. Charles and St. Peters Club Fitness locations throughout my time
      there. 16 moths later I canceled my membership in person at the St.
      Peters location because I moved out of the area at that time. I received
      an email titled “Re: Club Fitness - Cancel Membership Form Result
      #********”. I figured my membership was canceled and it would not be
      something I would have to think about ever again.
      This past week, 2 months later I was billed a monthly fee by Club
      Fitness. It turns out Club Fitness put my account on a two month freeze
      instead of canceling as I asked. I have called Club Fitness 6 times
      today and it appears that their automated phone operator doesn’t even
      give an opportunity to talk to a real person. I called the separate
      billing number hoping the gentleman could help me with the situation. I
      was told that I can only cancel my account in person(which I tried to do
      two months ago), or via letter. Is this the 1980’s? The fact that I
      can’t even cancel my membership online in the year 2022 is preposterous.
      Under the tab, “cancel membership”, the website only allows for a two
      month freeze on the account. I believe this is deceptive and misleading.
      I had to call my bank and file a stop payment. Otherwise I believe they
      will drag out the cancellation process as long as possible so they can
      milk me $29.99 monthly even though I haven't used their gym in two
      months.

      We apologize for the processing error made by our billing company, *** Fitness Solutions. They processed your Cancellation Form as a Freeze Request. We have corrected this and processed your cancellation.Your Cancel form was submitted on 6/16/2022 which would have made your last billing date 6/22/2022; since they processed a Freeze by mistake, you were not billed for your 30-day notice on 6/22/2022. We have used your drafted payment from 8/22/2022 as your final payment. Again, we apologize for the error.

      The staff at this particular fitness center is very nice but the cancellation process is in need of improvement. I went to the club in person in July of 2022 to cancel my membership and it seemed to take quite a while to process the cancellation but the staff was very polite and I was eventually told that one more monthly charge would take place before my membership was cancelled but I should be all set. What I was not aware of is the $32.67 annual fee would be charged any time you cancel within 75 days of your renewal date. It was my understanding we had an open ended monthly membership that you can cancel at any time. Which is true minus one extra month of charges and annual fee in my case. When I saw this charge on my bank account I tried to contact the club directly but there is no direct line to speak to anyone so I called the ***** number which simply tells you how much you owe but there is no one to actually speak to so you have to go back to the club only to be told that you have to pay the annual fee in August for a sign up date that took place in May. So according to the assistant manager you must pay the annual fee any time you cancel within 75 days of your sign up date. This is the first time in two years I heard anything about an annual fee. Cancellation process is not very timely, accurate, or efficient.

I authorize this deduction to be processed annually through the same account as my regular monthly dues. Member Initials: _____CANCELLATIONS: If you wish to cancel your membership, a 30-day written notice must be mailed to *************************************************************************** regardless of membership plan., Certified mail is recommended. All members are required to pay the Annual Membership Fee if it falls within the 30-days as well as the monthly dues and any past due amounts owed. Initials: ______Perhaps the employee you spoke to misunderstood your question. We apologize for any confusion. Your cancellation was processed according to your signed Membership Agreement.
