Bad experience. We agreed a scope and design for a deck. The design was paid for, designed, approved and permitted by the City. That was not was built. They agreed it was different but after months of ignoring the issue they said they would fix the issue - then refused. Stay away from this dishonest outfit.Business Response

We apologize this has been a bad experience for the customer. After finishing the deck project the final inspection was called in and passed inspection by the local municipality. The client notified Midtown about one of the support posts being out of level. We went and inspected the post and it was slightly out of level. We then made arrangements with the client to adjust the post accordingly, which we have. Now it seems there is another post out of place slightly, even though the deck has passed final inspection and is up to code. This is purely a cosmetic issue the client is not happy with looking at the underneath of the deck. We want to resolve this issue for our client. We will be in touch immediately with our client to find a solution that corrects this.
Sincerely, Midtown Home Improvements

I signed a contract on 6/04/2018 with Midtown to replace two front doors, two storm/screen doors, and three windows. They completed the work and I paid them $8,943.00. Since that time, one front door became harder and harder to open and close and on the other front door, the door handle fell off. I called them on 5/12/2022 and made an appointment for them to come out on 6/07/2022. On 6/07/2022 they didn't show up, and I called to have them tell me they forgot to put the appointment on the schedule. They then said they'd come on 6/15/2022 and they did; only to tell me they needed to remove the whole door and reset it and they couldn't do it that day. They also said they needed to get a new screw to fix the other door's handle. After that, they later asked for photos; I took photos and emailed to them. They scheduled to come out on 8/05/2022 and I got the same excuse on that date...they didn't have the tools to do the job. They rescheduled for 9/05/2022 and finally removed and replaced one front door, but didn't have time to replace the storm/screen door, so stated they'd come back the next day on 9/06/2022; they also still weren't able to fix the handle on the other door. They didn't show up on 9/06/2022. I called and they re-scheduled to come back on 9/23/2022. They called on 9/23/2022 to say they weren't coming because of rain. They wanted to re-schedule for 10/05/2022 and I told them that was unacceptable. My door was getting scratched by a dog with no storm/screen door. They were going to look into coming earlier. I heard nothing, so I called again this morning (9/28/2022) and left yet another message asking them to call me today.
I want my storm/screen door put back on and I want the door handle fixed or replaced. It's getting close to FIVE months I've been trying to get this company to fix these problems.Business Response

This complaint is also for *******************. They were soliciting around my neighborhood and gave me a quote for my deck because my deck had collapsed around that time. I agreed to contract with them. They used deceitful tactics on the loan. They told me it was a 6 year loan. It actually is a 16 year loan. The interest rate was higher than I was told as well. They started the deck in June of last year. Just today they finally finished it. I had to constantly contact them about the status. I had to threaten to take them to small claims court to even get on the schedule. I spoke to ********* who has the worst attitude and customer service. She sat there and argued with me about trying to get help with this. The workmanship was not up to par. I spoke to a manager named ************************* who said he can understand why I thought it looked bad but it is up to code and won't fail. That is not acceptable to me. The salesman are shady and manipulative and very deceitful.Business Response

I am rejecting this response because:
Your employees, ********************* and ***************************** knowingly approached me with a soliciting offer when my door clearly has a sign that says NO SOLICITING, that is not professional and does not acknowledge my demands at all.Your loan rate was not at all what was disclosed to me on paper. At 10% APR for 16 years is an absolutely criminal rate for someone with excellent credit and the price of the deck is outrageous for what I ended up getting. I accepted a loan for 6 years. Not 16. Not to mention how long your company took to complete the project. OVER A FULL YEAR TO COMPLETE.
This is by no means a professional way of dealing with a customer and it is clear you dont care about the quality of the deck considering you wont accept responsibility to replace the railing that does not match up properly nor the gap left on the first step of the deck stairs. No professional business would ever treat a customer like this.
Sincerely,

We paid over $32,000 for this backyard fence with two gates on April 2022.
Since fence installed in May 2022, we have had to call them about our gate not working properly. The problem is gate is jammed and won’t open or close. They came out in June and fixed it. Had to call again in July 2022 to get it fixed again for same problem. We were told the repair man was on vacation and it would be a week. A few weeks later 2 people came out, looked at it and left did nothing nor talked to us. We have called several times since then to get it fixed. Even talked to our salesman, *** ******, over two weeks ago, but nothing has been done nor have we been contacted. We have a 25 year warranty.
Please help us to get the issue fixedBusiness Response

We talked to ****************, he told us about a promotional opportunity where you pay $100 down to get on the schedule. And then the day the job is complete we have one year no interest to make whatever payments you would like. And then after the one year it would refinance to the adjusted amount of what was left of the remaining balance. We prequalified for the amount of ******. Signed a work order on 3/8/ 2022 and put down a payment of $100 for the work and to get on the schedule. On 3/31/2022 someone came by to take measurements of the deck. and we got a phone call from ******* saying that I was gonna to call an extra $5000 a material because he forgot to add some extra material to help support our roof that is covering a portion of our deck. Signed an updated work order on 4/1/2022. We did not get any other financial information at this time. We did not receive anything until after the job was complete and we had signed the papers to approve the deck. Nothing was told us that we would not be qualify for the promotional deal due to the extra money needed. The job was completed 6/30/2022And when the first of the month came of the following month. We got a notice that we would have to start making payments on our deck. We contacted ******* and he said that he didnt know what was going on because we did get approved. And that this it happened to one other customer. That he was going to work on it and get back to us. For a couple weeks he was going back-and-forth saying that he contacted the lender and that we all of a sudden didnt qualify and it was resorted back to The lower interest-rate. Because the interest-rate with the promotional deal was very high. At this time you continue to make payments on our deck because we did not want to go into default. After about a month I finally got contact with ******* to get me the financial agreements from the lender. There is no mention or Application of the new total of $37,400. We signed a contract the end of February to have a covered patio installed. At the time we signed the contract we also inquired about having the steps removed off the back of the house and have them install new steps/handrail. We were told they would send someone out to measure and take a look at the steps. I gave them a check for $2,200 that day. We were told by the salesman that this job could be completed by June. I only received one call from them from the time we signed the contract and the beginning of August when I finally said I wanted my deposit back. A lady called to ask about a survey which I told her I didn't have one and this project was not close to the boundary lines. No one ever came out to measure or even respond about the steps. When I asked for my deposit back I was told that someone needed to come back out to the house to discuss what happened. ****** ******* showed up to the home and tried selling us on the patio again which we told him we were not interested. He went to the back of the contract telling us that they could come after us for 20% for us backing out. We told him they never held up their end of the bargain. No one ever came out and measured or looked at the steps. He said they had already ordered materials which how could you when you haven't even measured anything. He got upset walked outside to "cool" down and then came back in. He told us we would get a check back in 2 weeks. It has been 3 weeks and still nothing. I want my $2,200 back as they clearly dropped the ball on our project. Be careful when dealing with this company as they over promise and under deliver. Worst experience ever!!!Business Response

06/15/22 the *************************** visited my home to discuss the replacement of my roof. After his extensive demonstration we discussed payments. During the course of this I discovered that ********* financial wanted to charge 9% interest rate . I was quite apprehensive of this since it wasn't even necessary as I had intended to pay thru the usual and customary way of one third down , one third during the construction, and the final payment upon completion and receipt of waivers. ***** explained the 9% would not enter into it until after 6 months. He said I had 6 months to pay. The interest would not apply until then and only towards the remainder of the lone. I anxiously awaited my first invoice so I could proceed to pay off the bill. To my astonishment with the very first invoice I was charged $99.98. without being given a chance to make any additional payments. *************************** repeatedly said his company charges more because they do better work. My experience has been detrimental to this statement. His company charge more because they hired a saleman who was willing to take advantage of good people. I contacted Midwest Improvement on Tuesday 8/16 and left a message and have received no response from them. I contacted ******** financial and their agent stated that that plan I described was available however the Midtown Improvements did not submit the proper paperwork. I want an apology and from Midtownand either pay $99.98 or request the charge be forgiven. Thank You in advance regarding these circumstances.I'm submitting this complaint not only for myself but all the others that they take advantage of such as unsuspecting immigrants.Business Response
Date: 10/13/2022
We feel this may be a misunderstanding. We always disclose rates and terms with every agreement as does our lender through follow up contact with the client. We will speak to our lender and ask that the $99.98 be forgiven. If the lender will not forgive this amount, we will send a check for that amount.
Sincerely,
Midtown Home Improvements

Work was completed in august of 2021. I have text messages of trying to get punch list items fixed since October of 2021. I’ve been in contact with the office multiple times about trying to get the issues resolved and have never been contacted back. I’ve been told I will be contacted the next day and no call. I’ve had someone come out once but have never heard anything back nor do they have any record of them being at my house. I’ve been in contact with a manager that completely ignores my request through text messages.Business Response
