      Account number ********. $419.63 diagnostic said low compression will not crank . Brought unit home and did the basics, cleaned the air filter, charged the battery, put fuel in tank. Engine started right away. Return to business, told my story. Was told they didn't want to spend a lot of money trying to start because of low compression. I told them I didn't spend anything and got it started. My hope was that they would at least return a portion of $419.63.

      Diagnostic fees are explained at the time a machine is checked into our shop. If the customer chooses for us to diagnose the issue, we proceed. Once the issue is identified, we provide the customer a quote for consideration and discuss recommended repairs based on manufacturer guidelines. In this case, the customer agreed for us to diagnose the issue and approved a quote for $1,521.97. Our service manager initiated an additional conversation with the customer to ensure there was no confusion regarding the possible state of the machine's engine. The customer understood and approved for us to further diagnose the extent of damage to the engine, which we did and discovered internal damage including cylinder scoring and dusted cylinder walls. Once these discoveries were made, repairs ceased and payment was provided for services rendered.
