We gave a large deposit($9111.60) in January in order to start work on the promise that *************************** would return unused portion of the deposit. ***************************, owner, has yet to return owed amount $5681.04. The business is not honest and needs to return acknowledged debt. Please help.Initial Complaint

I had a small water leak that did some damage to a hardwood floor in March 2022 home again renovation said they would do the job for us and we filed with our insurance. My insurance company did not want to pay them for profit and overhead. I informed them that is what the insurance was paying them. I received an invoice of $1046.77 on 7/15/2022 for who knows what. I paid a deposit of 50% of this invoice. However, they said they would still do the job on 11/18/2022 with no more out of pocket cost to me sans my deductible. I was also informed in this same email that they would have a hardwood floor specialist contact me. However, this never happened. I contacted them numerous times and told them the type of hardwood flooring that they needed to replace and they sent me out to find the hardwood myself. I waited several weeks with no response about the flooring. I contacted them in June 2023 asking for my money back or the job to be finished. They said the price had increased. No way. Was told management would call me. Management called while I was at work. I returned his call 4 times over the space of 2 days, left messages with no response. Sent an email regarding the refund and contacting the BBB. This was the response I received refunds, typically take ninety days to process. You should be seeing it very soon. The job hit a standstill in November after the **** information was added to the estimate. Allstate should have paid the additional coverage for the flooring. If you look at your estimate from us, for the flooring, it says pending ****. There is no way this job could have been done, with supply, for under $2000. It is not uncommon for a homeowner to provide information and to shop for their own material. We are a general contracting form, not an interior designer. If you will recall, I did a lot of leg work with ******** Flooring to find your original product or the best possible match. This was a cutesy. We were only being paid to install the flooring not find it or source it. As stated back in November and in the email that I had forwarded to me this morning the cost of insurance consultation and the cost of the **** report will be deducted from the refund. My time and energy have been wasted since 2/23/2022, so I quite understand how you feel, ****************Business Response

This customer signed a contract with my company for work to be completed. As stated in the signed document we were charging him labor to install his provided flooring once his insurance company detailed the pricing information. The customer then refused to return phone calls to Home Again or to schedule the job. He is asking for Home Again to give him free work and when we refused he turned to complaining here

I am rejecting this response because:
This is absolutely untrue. I paid this company for a job that has not been touched. As you can see from my included email they were upset that my insurance was not paying them the amount they requested. I stated that of course I want to proceed with the job in the provided email. I was sent on a wild *********** to procure my own materials for a discount for this company so they could profit my job. It seems to me like they wanted more money and didnt want to do any work. They required me to send my own flooring samples in for an ITEL report and thankfully the demo company left some of the flooring for me to do this. I have provided emails that show I paid for the job and that I intended to have the job completed. I 100% refute the claims of this dishonest business. You can see that on June 15th of 2022 I explicitly stated we wanted to move forward with the job. Then on June 23 I received an email about overhead and profit with no other explanation or plan of action, except a general complaint that insurance wont pay them what they expected.Business Response

We reached out to the Critchers on 2/24/2022 and on 3/2 our estimator visited the home. We issued our original estimate #**** on 3/15. On 4/18 we scheduled to send one of our associates back to Mr. ********* to collect a sample to send to ****. We agreed to bill the deposit while waiting on the **** results
This is Invoice #**** for an amount of $1046.77. The original was written by Mr. ********* insurance adjuster. The first line item is for Flooring - Engineered ****'' with the description stating Pending **** report.
The flooring distributor ******************** will need to bring in a sample and they will try to match it.
On 11/11 ******************** had no news for either the flooring or **** . We emailed Allstate and asked the status of the claim and received a finalized estimate with **** in it. On 11/18 we discussed the final estimate from Allstate. Despite the additional coverage he was not happy.
No response until 4/26/23 and explained that we would need to bill for the estimate with **** factored in to do the job. Since so much time had passed, the estimate would need to be reviewed in keeping with current rates and material costs. We sent a new estimate, #**** with the flooring as labor only.
Home Again Renovations worked extremely hard to get Mr. ********* job started but between the long gaps of no communication, the inability to acknowledge Allstates revised estimate with the ****, and unwillingness to pursue leads related to his material there is nothing else we can do. The notion that we did not do everything possible to get this job off the ground is astounding. ******************** didnt mention that the final Allstate payout was $4055.87, though, well above our final asking price for the job at $1646.77. We refute claims of dishonestly and consider such statements to be libel.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
This is absolutely untrue. I called several times and stated I do not care what the costs are, that I simply want the job finished. This company has my money, and I still have a hole in my floor. The last real communication I had with this company was 4/6/22 when I called to inform them that I was unable to find a discount box of flooring for them, so that they can finish the job within their budget. ******* stated that she would be back in touch with me and I never heard back. It was not until I called and demanded a refund or for them to finish the job that I was told, I would have to have a new estimate due to the amount of time that had passed. They have my money I have no job that is completed. That is the end of the story. This company has done absolutely nothing but give me the runaround and send me out to do their work. I want the job finished or I want a refund in full, including what insurance has paid them. This is fraud at the highest level.Initial Complaint

They owe me $20,000.00 dollars as a refund, They are difficult to work with and refused to do work. I was ready to pay for anything extra because I wanted the work done right. Instead all I got was grief and their refusal to fix a small problem with drywall that was not part of the water damage. Properly paint the walls. I need my refund to pay a new contractor,Business Response

Mr. ****** is making false claims about our business and our working relationship with him. Mr. ****** first contacted Home Again Renovations for repair work in his home on May 12 2022. Well over a year ago. We initially started the estimation process with Mr. ****** but on 5/26/2022 we were notified that he was in the hospital but was expected to be released "soon". No contact was made with the customer despite multiple documented phone attempts until 7/8/2022 when the customer notified us that he wished to put additional money down on his job but still wasn't ready to proceed. In August of 2022 (8/15/2022) we attempted to install carpet but due to the filthy nature of his home (we can provide photos if necessary -trash, animal feces, excess dirt, etc) the flooring subcontractor required that Mr. ****** clean the space before they would let their crew work in the home...Please see the attached document for the remainder of my explanation. I can provide dozens of photos, access to our system showing time stamped conversations or attempts of contact etcCustomer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:
I am asking for a refund: I spent over $20,000.00 dollars. This is a simple matter, The business refused to do the job correctly or make some simple changes, Basically the entire finished basement is being redone after significant water damage from a pipe burst. Is it too much to ask that the job be done properly?Business Response

Im not clear on where Mr ****** spent the other $8,203.49 to bring him to the $20k he says he spent but as a professional company we keep detailed records of all payments made to us. These payments are reflected in the invoice I sent with my last response. ***************** claims that the items he was demanding be completed were not simple or easy repairs and they certainly wouldnt be given for free. At the time we last spoke he was NOT willing to pay for the repairs. The story he shares with BBB is very supportive of his side of things but we have documented proof to the opposite. His job estimate was provided by his insurance company and the agreement from my company to him was that we would complete the repairs to the letter of the estimate and nothing more. Aside from that he was verbally insulting, emotional erratic, and carrying a firearm around while my production manager was on site. Overall the job was unsafe and problematic. We tried to help a customer out because his ailments kept him from processing the repair initially but once he popped back into the picture over a year later he became demanding and made working with him impossible. Please see my documentation of this.
