I was contacted by Wakefield Recovery Services a few months ago to settle an old 'debt' of over 9,000$ from back in early yr2000 while I was married. Even then, it sounded suspicious. They threatened legal action against me if I did not use their services to settle for approx 2300$.. Now, I am unable to contact them as my auto pay has changed (card number). I suspect fraud at this time. Please investigate the legitimacy of their integrity to collect on bills that *** be legitimate or scams of identity information misuse. It is yr2024 and I have no way to contact these people to update my info or verify the authenticity, of I was persuaded was a legitimate debt, of this transaction. My reference code is LLC-CCMX-********. Client *******. I fear repercussions and I am very concerned and confused. Is this a scam?

They contacted me six time by prerecorded with return call request. I called. They had sketchy information, over 17 years old address, unknown email address, no original creditor documentation. Threatened to *** me in court and garnishee me. Threatened to negatively report on my Credit. Stated this account has already gone to collection. Advance America is the alleged original creditor. I called them and they said there is no record of me in their system further stating that even if I were sent to collection and if the loan in collection were sold to a debt collector that Advance America would still have my information in their system as they do not remove or purge their computer systems and they encouraged me to report Wakefield Recovery Services to FTC, ************************************ and BBB, file a Police report and contact my Financial Institution and get a refund. Advance America looked up Wakefield Recovery Service phone number and found them to have fraud reported against them and did not have any legitimate reason to believe that Wakefield were collecting a debt on their behalf. I contacted my debit card is***r and reported to them I wanted a refund and then I emailed Wakefield also dba Lakeland (on the bank remittal) stated the facts and my findings they is***d a refund statement sent via email after calling me again to respond to my letter to them.

I received multiple calls from this company and just now had the time to return the call to see what's going on. Upon calling I was given information that I owe a loan company by the name of Loan Now, $3000 and that they are willing to settle out of court for $340 if I wanted to dismiss this matter. I asked for more information about this loan and I was hung up on twice. Once I kept pressing for more information, I was told that the loan had been issued to me in 2007. They had my name, two previous old addresses and the last four of my social, they wanted to know my last known phone number associated with the account which I don't even remember from 16 years ago. He then went on to tell me an email address that I have never had. I have had the same email address for at least 17 years. So I asked for more information about the creditor and case number and once again I was hung up on. I called back and I was emailed a statement with false information. I then went to look up the company and the website address domain is expired and there is no real contact information. I also contacted Wakefield and associates and they said they are not affiliated with that company. Those people at Wakefield recovery are scammers and some how that have ppl information and are gaining extra information on people by claiming they owe a debt. This company needs to be investigated and shut down in addition to having to pay some type of fine and given jail time for their deceptive crimes. Also they should be flagged and consumers need to be made aware that they are not a real company and that they should not send them any money of any kind and to investigate them selves on any issues bought to them by this fraudulent company.

Today they contacted me about a supposed "Payday" loan that I did not take out. This supposed loan was more than 10 years old on a ************ that has no telephone number that can be reached. In addition, I asked for their email address and they said that it would only go to corporate and hung up on me.

This company called and used an auto-dialer message to threaten me with legal action, a violation of Federal Law and also represented as an attorney's office. Repeated attempts to call back and gather any further information ended with multiple hangups from the company. First attempt, the woman asked me why I was calling-- I informed her that her firm had committed a criminal act by threatening me on the phone and that I wanted to know what their business relationship to me was. She hung up. I called back, got a different female, who insisted she had to have the last 4 digits of my SSN verified to proceed-- I refused she hung up. I called back twice and was instantly hung up on-- then finally a male answered, I asked for a manager he said he was a manager--and then told me that my attitude was terrible and disrespectful-- and hung up again.Clearly--they are a scam outfit looking to hustle an easy buck by scaring people stupid enough to put up with their nonsense. NC needs to pull their license to operate-- and make them demonstrate that their autodialed message is not a violation of Federal and State law. (it certainly is-- at least the one I received). After 5 calls, no profanity and no statements other than the illegality of their phone call-- I still have NO IDEA what they are calling about-- and don't care. I have made a referral to the Federal **************************** and I will work hard to put these cretins out of business and in jail where they belong

Just recently I received a phone call from this company and it's a supposably collections company they tried to tell me that I took a payday loan out quite a while ago and they're saying that they came across my name and all that stuff and said that I still owe money to them cuz I never paid it back I tried to tell them that I do not recall ever taking out a payday loan he was very rude to me he told me that if I don't take care of it they are going to freeze my assets which I have none or I'm going to face charges and I'm going to end up in court many many times through our conversation I tried to tell them that I did not owe them anything because I never took out a payday loan but somehow they have all my information and I don't know how they got it... I am scared and terrified because this is something that really makes me nervous because I never ever took out a payday loan ever that I remember like I said they were very rude to me They constantly threatened me throughout the conversation so yes I hung up on them because I couldn't seem to get a word in edgewise with them and that's why I am contacting you today
